3 | What is the law? | Bible general Archive 4 | elder4yhwh | 232872
EDB, Once again that you for being thourogh. Their are some many people say that upon the death of Christ his blood did away with the law (which is true) Mat 5:17 Christ did come to fulfill the Law and his death abolished those things (laws) that was against us as well. So that always me to ask my next question which law(s), staute(s), judgement(s), covenant etc. And as you stated the Torah (1st five books) is known as the "book of the Law" God covered every-life- situtation that can comes up. That being said, the part of the torah the Christ fulfilled I would like to explore and the ones that Christ's blood nailed to the tree. I'm not trying to start a debate (the word of God was not for that intednt) I would like to have a stimulating conversation with the forum |

7 | Which God appeared and talked to Abram? | Gen 17:1 | elder4yhwh | 232523
My view on Gen 17 is that whomever Abram was speaking to was an respensitive sent on God's behalf (it was a fleshly being) Here are some other scriptures to vailidate my point. Gen 32:22-32 It was a person (he wrestled with) Num 14:14 He appeared in the Fire and the cloud (something that they can see) Duet 5:4 He spoke from fire which in that tense he communicated with him by means of fire. Judges 6:22 Once again it was a respresentive sent by God with a answer. In all places mentioned above a person can "see God" in HIS many forms. |

8 | Sunday Sabbath or not? | Ex 20:8 | elder4yhwh | 232722
Edb, Yes sir indeed the was doing the Lord's work on Sabbath and first of the week. To say he wasn't keeping the Sabbath is streching it seeing that he was a chief Pharisee from the tribe of Benjamin and the law was given to Isreal. Well then Acts 17:2 should be addressed as well as Acts 13. I think we can agree the Jesus was a Sabbath keeper (right?) To address your comment about him walking to far when the commandments were given (Old Testament they didn't need to walk that far seeing that the sactuary was always in the middle of the camp wherever they went. My second point is Jesus stated that the priest prfaned the Sabbath and they were blameless (Mat 12:5). Whenever healed a person on the Sabbath they (Pharisees) accused him of working, and he would respond be saying it was lawful to do good on the Sabbath. If that day wasn't so special why did they make a issue whenever he did something on that day? huummm.... |

9 | Sunday Sabbath or not? | Ex 20:8 | elder4yhwh | 232725
When you say it was special for the Jews wouldn't it be important to Paul seeing that he was a Jew?? (blood-line) Well spoken they didn't feel like he did but my question is did he not based on what "they" believed a person can believe what they want but the truth is the truth. Which goes back to my original question did Jesus keep the Sabbath?? (Luke 2:41-42;Luke 22nd chapter; John
10 | Sunday Sabbath or not? | Ex 20:8 | elder4yhwh | 232726
John 7th Chapter it was a custom of the Jews to celebrate in Jersalem on the feast days (Lev 23rd chapter) by the way to save conversation the blood of Jesus did away with all of the sacrifices. |

11 | Sunday Sabbath or not? | Ex 20:8 | elder4yhwh | 232737
Bradk, My point is that the Sabbath was important to Jesus, alot of people believe that Sabbath was done away with. Now you pointed out that Jesus rose the first day of the week (based on what you wrote) Now a person can't get 3 days from Friday and end up with Sunday. In the passage of Matt 28:1 the Sabbath was on the seventh day. Yes Jesus came to preach the Kingdom of God. All I'm saying is that the Sabbath should be kept by all people not just "Jews" only Based on Mark 2:27 becuase he didn't day a particular group of people. Hope that clears things up.... Be bleassed |

12 | Sunday Sabbath or not? | Ex 20:8 | elder4yhwh | 232738
Bradk, I sorry I meant to address that Paul will aways be a Jew (nationality) and that has nothing to do with him being converted to following and teaching the principles of Christ. So are you saying that when he was converted that he stopped keeping the Sabbath? Then Acts 18:4 must be addressed becuase it destroys your point. |

13 | Sunday Sabbath or not? | Ex 20:8 | elder4yhwh | 232765
EdB, The thing that gets me is whenever I point out that he clearly kept the Sabbath that's when people starts putting in their own opinion. Once again we don't know if he traveled or not on the Sabbath (the bible doesn't say) but to make a statement such as "clearly" that's when I say show me it's statements such as those and topics such as this misleads people. Yes I'm fully aware of Lev 23rd Chap and I keep them as well becaue he said that they were pertucal covenants. Once again if you look into why/how Sunday worship came about I'm sure it would bring the Sabbath into a different perpestive (if you haven't already) My point once again is you can worship God any day of the week. But Out of all of those days he made (holy) and no other day. Yes we are required to live everyday holy; but God said one day is and not the other six. (Ex 20:8-11) So seeing that Jesus was a Sabbath keeper as well as the rest of the disciples I read on that point. be blessed |

14 | Sunday Sabbath or not? | Ex 20:8 | elder4yhwh | 232819
The very same scriptures you use supports my point (Sabbath Keeping) Jesus fulfilled the law that's why picking up sticks is not as strict during the appearing of Christ. Paul is stating to leave people alone(bother them) concerning meats, days etc. Just let that person be conviced in their own mind. And just because a person thinks the Sabbath should be observed I'm not going to beat them over the head and say "OH YOU'RE SO WRONG!" I just want to know where Jesus says it's no longer valid alot of people use those scriptures to quote Paul but they leave out Act 17:2; Acts 18:4; Acts 13th chapter hummmm. Now on the other hand every time Jesus healed someone on the Sabbath the Pharasees/Sadduess told him he was breaking the law because he was healing (to them that was work). Each time an healing took place and they accussed Him he let them know that it is lawful to do good on the Sabbath because he is "Lord of the Sabbath" (Mark 2:27) Paul said that the commandment is holy as well as the law (Romans 7th Chapter) Paul states the need for the law.My question will always be, God gave 10 commandments and a person would point out the one that says "remember" is there anywhere where Jesus took that out if he fulfilled the law does that mean I can commit adultry?? because that's the one I want to pick out (I'm being sarcastic) I don't see where Jesus gave us authority to put any of them away. People say Paul, Paul, Paul but I'm looking for Jesus' point of view not Paul's... |

15 | Sunday Sabbath or not? | Ex 20:8 | elder4yhwh | 232874
I still find it quite amazing why God the Father would said "remember" out of the ten and Son come along and say it's not necessary anymore because he was there from the begining. Paul spoke of so many laws that's no longer valid because (after) of the death of Christ. Now certain laws he was clearly refering to (Acts 15:5; Act 8:2) Now in Col 2nd Chapter it appears here that he was speaking to Jews (only) based on the wording of the letter. I believe we can agree that everything stated in that chapter is Jewish based agreed??? I can't understand how you get Paul is abolishing the Commandments in this chapter. I look at that as him saying that the commandments that was written on tables of stone was not enough becuase it was not in them (Jer 31:31-34) God gave the New Covennt out before Christ even appeared here on earth so if whoever say "New Covenant" start in Jeremiah 31 because that's where God started. Now I understand that salvation was only given to the Jews but becuase of Christ death I have that same "rights" as the natural born Jew. (Rom 9) Seth the Jews were tryinig to kill him becuase they thought he was putting himself above God. Where in the New Testament that Jesus said He's writing a new coveant? Here Paul says: now new commandment" it doesn't state which one he's refering to but he does say the "old" so once again what was the old commandment he was refering to?? I'm understand the persudsion he's refering to the Old Testament myself. The thing I don't get is Paul was a Jew teaching on the Sabbath (Gospel) it plainly says he did it every sabbath day and since he followed Christ's teaching I will do as well. Now you gave the scriptures concerning the 9 commandments I can give you alot commandment number 4 where it's valid to day for everyone of those who chohse to keep it holy |

16 | Sunday Sabbath or not? | Ex 20:8 | elder4yhwh | 232886
Then why did God make the Sabbath holy, blessed (seventh day) and not the rest??
17 | Sunday Sabbath or not? | Ex 20:8 | elder4yhwh | 232888
I don't know where you received your information from but in the Hebrew text Sabbath means "rest". When you talk about creation, redemption, glory that's all self included in the Sabbath through Christ.
18 | Sunday Sabbath or not? | Ex 20:8 | elder4yhwh | 232930
edb and beja, I'm sorry to read that you two have went to such far estream(s). God said the day is "holy" and he gets the last word not these authors you guys are talking about. You can say dispensational/antinomianism the Sabbath is still holy because God made it holy (the day) I know people say seven means complete and all that good stuff but the day is holy why?? because God said it is. Jesus came down here to save man (John 3:16) Guess what though the s Sabbath is still holy Alot of people won't enter into that Sabbath rest because of unbeilief (Heb 4:6) But the Sabbath is still holy the Pharisees acussed him of breaking the Sabbath because he healed a man (Mat 12:10) But the Sabbath is still holy. Paul said let not man judge you for meat/drinks, Sabbath, New Moons (Col 2:16) But the Sabbath day is still holy. Sidebar that word judge means "to condemn" not to "sentence" you may follow that sidebar up if you so desire. Jesus said that is Lord of the Sabbath (Mark 2:28) And the Sabbath Day is still holy the day itself will always be holy becuase God said is. So if anyone can show me in scripture where God/Jesus say the the Sabbath is no longer "holy" I will glady change my position on the Sabbath being a holy day. By the way a woman was made for a man (by God) Gen 2:18 so he wouldn't be alone. Jesus said: The Sabbath was man for man (Mark 2:27) so he can rest from his labor I want to point out woman for man (made by God) Sabbath for man (made by God) so no matter how we slice it God is the Creater of all things John 1:3 and he created the Sabbath for purpose of rest both nagturally and spiritually as well. And one more time for the road the Sabbath day is holy becuase God said it is. |

19 | Did u know Jesus filled this? | Lev 23:2 | elder4yhwh | 232951
edb, This is why I say these "days" should be reconized until the return of Christ. The Day of Atonement has been fulfilled through his blood because He is the Atonement (ref already given above) These days points towards Christ so I memoralized them (keep them holy) Christ did away with the things that was against me by nailing it to the cross, so I don't worry if people judge (condemn) in my honoring those days. Now I realize that those days are a shadow of things to come but the body is Christ (Col 2:14-17) People reconize the 4th of July, Mother's Day, Labor Day etc. for it's particular use but once again those days were not deemed "holy" as God's Feast Days (Lev 23:2) |
