1 | NASB with blank pages for notes? | Bible general Archive 3 | Vincent | 182778
"Hi, Vincent... Most of the ones I've seen you make them "yourself" through a copy shop. Tony Reinke has a detailed discussion of doing so at his blog: http://spurgeon.wordpress.com/2006/08/15/building-a-blank-bible-part-1/ I keep looking, though. If you happen across one will you let me know? I'll do the same for you. In the mean time, if either of us end up with one, let's speak to it here, too... okay? In Him, Doc" ---- Thanks, Doc. :) I've read the entire blog that you mentioned. Very interesting. I currently have the NASB on a bible program, so I can easily transfer the text to a Microsoft Word Processer to get the font and typesize that I desire, along with column width. From there, I would then print the bible pages so that the left hand pages would have text and the right hand pages would be blank (since I'm right-handed for writing purposes). Thus every right-hand page would be totally blank. I'm not quite sure what type or weight of paper that I'd use. It'd have to be thin enough for compactness, but heavy enough for durability and writing. Further, I'd have to decide on the type of binding. Either sown binding with leather covers by a professional bookbinding company (which would start to get expensive), or some type of comb binding, or just simple loose leaf folder binding. Having the binding done shouldn't be as terrible as I previously thought, so long as I do all of my note writing on the rigth-hand pages and not the left-hand pages (since I'm right-handed). The binders usually make it difficult for hand-writing on the left-hand pages. Please let me know your thoughts. :) What I'll likely do is create 16 volumes as per the following: HISTORY BOOKS 1. Genesis to Numbers 2. Deuteronomy to Ruth 3. Samuel/Kings 4. Chronicles to Esther POETIC/PROPHETIC BOOKS 5. Job/Proverbs to Solomon (excluding Psalms) 6. Psalms (Books 1-5) 7. Isaiah to Lamentations 8. Ezekiel to Malachi GOSPELS (WITH ACTS) 9. Matthew 10. Mark 11. Luke/Acts 12. John EPISTLES 13. Romans/Corinthians 14. Galatians to Philemon 15. Hebrews to Jude 16. Revelation - Vince |

"You have some great ideas! I would expect to need more space for the NT, in general, than for the Old. Keep us posted." One option in that direction is actually inserting a couple of blank pages for each page of text for the New Testament to compensate. Thus the New Testament could end up having as many actual blank pages as the Old Testament, even if the Old Testament has more text pages than the New Testament. "Drop me an email sometime. If possible, I'd like to coordinate this with you. Perhaps by making multiple copies, the total cost would be less. My only problem is making sure the font is large enough." I generally prefer the Times New Roman Font (found in many word processers, for example) which may reasonably range from an 8-12 point fontsize. Of course, fontsize will affect how many pages there will be for each volume in the end. I certainly wouldn't object to splitting the costs by making a larger number of copies either. Do you have any preferences concerning font? Let's say maybe a Times New Roman font with a 10 point fontsize? "Meanwhile, I'm still looking around to see if there are other options. I'll let you know if I find anything. In Him, Doc" Sounds great. It's definitely something that I'd like to do. Vince |

"Vincent, Greetings. There use to be some looseleaf bibles on the market,I havent seen any in quite some time though. They would come with blank pages in the back and you could take them out and insert them where needed. This might be an option for you. In Him, lionheart" I once had the bible that you're talking about, which was previously published by World Publishers if I'm not mistaken. It was a looseleaf bible which allowed for the insertion of blank pages. Moody Publications had also made looseleaf pages avaiable. Both of these are out of print now unfortunately. The only shortcoming that I found with The World Publishers NASB was the fact that you could only insert about 100 blank sheets as compared to 1200 pages of the bible. Since I write quite a bit, I would need more blank space than text space. Hence the bible would have to be broken down into several volumes with that much blank space for journaling. Conceivably, it may still be possible to somehow obtain the looseleaf bible pages themselves (and have the blank sheets manufactured separately). Afterwhich, multiple covers or binders would have to be constucted (which isn't that hard) to split the text pages into multiple volumes. Vince |

"Try christianbook.com. I think they still list a few looseleaf Bibles in their catalog." That's a good idea. I will check into that. Or worst case scenario, I can run off text prints from my home computer, insofar as I have the bible pages already in my Microsoft Word Processer. From there, I can easily alter font type, text size and column width. I currently have a Times New Roman font with an 11 point fontsize. Column width is a narrow 1 and 7/8 inches, insofar as narrower columns are easier for the eyes to read. Narrow double columns allow the eyes to simply glide down the page, whereas wider single columns force the eyes to move from left to right, causing double the physical exertion for the eyes. Vince |

"Vince, Good hearing from you. With all the resources we have now this would'nt nesessarily be vary efficient or practical. In Him, lionheart" :) What specifically do you suggest would be impractical? And what resources might be better? Vince |

"Vince, With the online resources and the abundance study tools at our disposal. All that I sugjest is that there are more effective tools at our fingertips. There isn't a substitute for pen and paper, but we can keep it simple. I'm developing a decent research library, but as once was said Rome wasnt built in a day. Such is it in our study and pursuit of Gods Word. That my friend is a lifelong endevore. Withe tools like e-sword and other online resources available it sure makes things simpler. In Him, lionheart" The grievance that I ran into with E-Sword is that I actually took about 150 pages worth of notes, but the files and background highlights became corrupted, so that everything was lost. And subsequent corruptions began to occur just days afterwards. I'm absolutely afraid to use E-Sword at this point. Vince |

"I liked e-sword but found it it notas user friendly as some of the others. I've had allot of luck with The Blue Letter Bible has been pretty reliable. What works best for you? lionheart" - E-SW0RD- What I really loved about E-Sword is that you can highlight bible verses, and then write the notes right next to the verse itself while viewing the verse. However, the file became corrupt so I lost all my highlights. Also, you can't export all of your notes simultaneously into a Microsoft Word text file. POWERBIBLE CD- I think that I'm decided now to use PowerBible CD, insofar as you can create and export your own entire commentary with a single press of a button into a Microsoft Word text file, as opposed to doing a copy/paste for each and every verse. You can even export the bible verses themselves all at once, or even interweave the bible verses with your text notes into a Word text file with a single press of a button. The shortcoming with PowerBible CD, however, is that you can't actually highlight text. However, everything can be exported and later highlighted in Microsoft Word. Plus it's only 20 dollars plus a little more for an unlock code if you want NASB. BLUE LETTER BIBLE- What features do you find available with the Blue Letter Bible? Can you write commentary notes with it? Is it strictly an online program or do you purchase it? How might it be comparable or superior to E-Sword or other programs that you've encountered? Vince |

8 | Unitarian Universalism? | Bible general Archive 3 | Vincent | 182837
Well I certainly don't agree with the Unitarian Universalist belief system. I believe that we are all sinners and I believe in the biblical miracles. Would they tolerate a bible-believing Christian attending their services? Vince |

"It has been my experience that Unitarians are quite tolerant of absolutely anyone... except Bible-Believing Christians. :-) In Him, Doc" I've run into some groups like that. It makes me question their sincerity. Vince |

Hi Lionheart - Thanks for your response. I read the scriptures that you gave. I'm sorta sorry that man was made upon the earth too. Vincent |

12 | Why do people like to accuse me? | Luke 6:37 | Vincent | 188935
"Dear Vincent, Might you be a bit more specific? Who is accusing you of what?" The police entered onto the property of the medical facility where I've been treated for eight years, and randomly pulled my car onto the medical property. They wanted to see my driver's insurance card, but it was lost in my glovebox, so now I have to go to court. "Accusations never send a person to hell. Just like today, when a person is accused of breaking the law, the accusation does not condemn that person." Guilty until proven innocent. "The lost receive the just recompense for their sin when God sends them to hell. In Him, Doc" Then I'm going to hell for a traffic violation. "People may accuse you but they are not your judge nor do they send you to hell." I have to go before a judge, so people do in fact judge me. "God does not send you to hell either. It is your sins that condem you, and that is why we all need a saviour who will save his people. Read John3:17" Then I'm condemned. Vincent |

13 | Why do people like to accuse me? | Luke 6:37 | Vincent | 188939
"Sounds like you may be a bit disgruntled over a traffic incident…" They pulled me off the street with no valid legal basis, and then accused me on the property of the medical facility which I've attended for eight years due to medical disability. "So quit lashing out and complaining. Make your appearance in court; uphold your responsibility as a citizen and more importantly as a Christian. Stand in His grace, WOS" I'll make my appearance in court. But I'll cease attendance at the medical facility that I was stopped at. These police are little more than criminals who've broken the law before. "People love to point out the faults of others, it makes them feel superior (they don't realize that they could not see the fault in you if it was not in them as well). blessings in Jesus cheri" These police officers claim to fight against alcohol while using anabolic steroids. 14 | Why do people like to accuse me? | Luke 6:37 | Vincent | 188953
"What you’ve got, if those are all the facts, is a real bad case of injustice and I feel sorry for your grief, we sure don’t live in a perfect world to say the least." Thanks, I appreciate that. I haven't told half of it. It made me very ill. "Why don’t you turn a bad situation, the injustice that come your way in to a good outcome and tell God that you are going to trust Jesus for your eternal life and cause it to be a blessing for you?" I will have to get away from certain people for it to work I think. "Again I’m sorry about the improper justice you received!" I don't expect to always get treated fairly. I just want to be left alone sometimes so that maybe I can restore my health. Vincent |

15 | Are Rapture and Apostasy the same thing? | 2 Thess 2:3 | Vincent | 187776
""Apostasia" could be a spatial departure, or it could be some other departure. For me, the context, theme, and Paul's mention that he had previously taught them about this all seem to point to this being the rapture. Love in Christ, Mark" Why doesn't the church generally teach this then? Vincent |
