In Hebrew the word 'Netzer' means branch and is the root from which the name 'Nazareth' is derived. Jesus was referred to in Isa.11:1 as a Branch from the stump of Jesse (David's father) which will bear fruit. Stump of Jesse means that there is nothing left of David's dynasty but the Branch that would grow from it would be extremely significant and abundantly fruitful...hence Jesus was called 'The Nazarene' - Branch in Mt.2:23 Hope this throws a bit more light on it !
