1 | Which did He make first? | Gen 1:11 | Stevia | 167474
But it distinctly says that no plant of the field had yet sprouted when he created man, and Gen. 1:12-13 talk about the earth bringing forth grass and trees on day three, then Gen1:27-31 talk about man being created on day 6.

I like your answer. I was wondering about this portion of scripture, and why it was admirable to "struggle with men and God and prevail". Your answer gives me hope as I struggle in my search for God. Thank you |

5 | How did MATTHEW know it was a prophesy? | Hos 11:1 | Stevia | 167814
Dear Doc, That's a wonderful principle, but it doesn't help when I'm looking for proof that Jesus was the Messiah. Matthew was making a case that Christ was the Messiah because He fulfilled that prophesy, but the only way we know it was a prophesy is because Matthew's gospel says so? That doesn't sound like a very good case to me. |

6 | How did MATTHEW know it was a prophesy? | Hos 11:1 | Stevia | 167820
Yeah, I guess I should've said Jesus. I do consider Him to be the Christ, just run into doubts from time to time and seek proof. :-)
7 | Why do they both include Shealtiel? | Matt 1:12 | Stevia | 167533
I wouldn't be surprised to find a Shealtiel listed in each geneology. What is surprising to me is that both Shealtiels have a father named Zerubbabel.
8 | Why do they both include Shealtiel? | Matt 1:12 | Stevia | 167816
I mean both Shealtiels have a SON named Zerubbabel.
9 | Why do they both include Shealtiel? | Matt 1:12 | Stevia | 167819
I realize that one is the geneology of Joseph and the other is the geneology of Mary. What I don't understand is why both have Shealtiel and Zerubbabel in them. In Matthew it says that Jeconiah was Shealtiel's father. In Luke it says that Neri was his father. One interesting thing is this note: (Matthew 1:11) Josiah begot Jeconiah and his brothers about the time they were carried away to Babylon. So here's the only possibility I can think of: Shealtiel was born to Jeconiah, then something happened to Jeconiah as they were in captivity, and Neri adopted him. His son was Zerubbabel and Zerubbabel went on to have at least two sons- Rhesa (Luke) and Abuid (Matthew). This makes some sense since Luke counts Heli as Joseph's father, maybe he includes this other adoption. This is the best I can come up with. I would be interested to hear other thoughts.
