I'm writing a book and need to know the approximate year.
2 | I'm confused by the dates...help? | NT general Archive 1 | Songbirdca | 47188
No problem. Thanks anyway. Laura |

3 | So she should only be eating fruit? | Gen 2:16 | Songbirdca | 152382
Terrib, I agree with you. But how can a perfect world (Eden) have included meat-eating? It seems wrong somehow.
4 | How old was Jesus when the Magi brought | Num 24:17 | Songbirdca | 46185
That makes sense, however in Luke ch. 2 we read that Mary had to wait until her time of purification was complete before they could go up to Jerusalem to present Jesus in the temple. According to Lev. 12:4 that time was 33 days. Luke 2:22 says they went to Jerusalem when her time of purification had been completed. Which would make Jesus 1 month old. Luke 2:39 goes on to say, "When Joseph and Mary had done everything required by the Law of the Lord, they returned to Galilee to their own town of Nazareth." Not to Bethlehem but Nazareth, which is why I'm finding the age thing very confusing.
5 | Joseph and Mary in Egypt where did they | Matt 2:13 | Songbirdca | 74388
I thought so. I was at a several Eygptian travel sites and they have the "supposed" travel route that Mary and Joseph took. I was wondering how they got it. I wonder if Mary and Joseph took refuge in the city of Petra? I'm writing a book about them and I wish I could get a sense of where in Eygpt they fled to. |

6 | How old was Jesus when the Magi brought | Matt 2:16 | Songbirdca | 46186
Thanks so much Giam! I have never seen that before. Isn't it wonderful when God opens your eyes to new things in Scripture! Herod sent them to Bethlehem, because his advisors told him that is where the baby was, but the Wise men "wisely" followed the star until it reached Nazareth! Awesome! I have always assumed they went to Bethlehem. This makes more sense. Thanks Your sister in Christ Songbird |

7 | How old was Jesus when the Magi brought | Matt 2:16 | Songbirdca | 46208
Just a follow-up to that Giam I've been looking at a map of the Holy Land. King Herod was King of Judea his decree that went out to kill all children two years and under was for Bethlehem and it's vicinity. Nazareth was in Galilee, which as far as I can tell (correct me if I'm wrong)was not under his jurisdiction. So if Mary and Joseph were in Nazareth why would they have to flee? Take a look at a map and you'll see what I mean. Thanks Songbird |

8 | Was James the son Alpaheus Jesus brother | Matt 10:3 | Songbirdca | 49756
You should know that it was common during those times for parents to give the same name to more than one of their children. Also I would be interested in knowing the verse about the tribes not allowing to intermarry. I understood they weren't allowed to marry foreigners but I have never heard about the tribes not being allowed to marry. Songbirdca |

9 | why were James and John called the sons | Mark 3:17 | Songbirdca | 49543
Thank you, that gives me a better picture of them. Songbirdca |

10 | I'm writing a book, need to know | Mark 14:16 | Songbirdca | 48946
It's central to the story I'm writing. Everything is from her perspective. Since they went up each year to Jerusalem to celebrate the Passover, I'm assuming she would be there (she was there for the crucifixion). Also, I'm told the Upper Room was big enough to hold about forty people. Why would Jesus need a room that large for twelve people? I need to take a little artistic license, but only if it's feasible. 11 | Who was at the Last Supper? | Mark 14:16 | Songbirdca | 48953
Thanks for your input Raven. However, since this is a novel I am writing and since it is central to the story, I think, based on what I hear from the others who have responded to my query, that it will not cause a problem. Again, the verses I quoted in Mark leave some question. And you are right in quoting 1 Cor. 4. I will take that verse into consideration before my final edit. Songbirdca |

12 | I'm writing a book, need to know | Mark 14:16 | Songbirdca | 48954
Thanks so much Parable, I will try to see if I can get these books. The more input the better. Songbirdca |

Thanks for the input I appreciate it!
15 | Was Mary from the line of David? | Luke 3:23 | Songbirdca | 173214
Thank you! I thought they were both from the same line but the geneology's were confusing me.
16 | Why does Psalm 82:6 say we are gods? | John 10:34 | Songbirdca | 75348
It still doesn't make sense to me. I know that I'm a child of God, but that doesn't make me a god. I've just had two Mormons to my door and they insist we will one day be gods. Using all the verses you pointed out. How can that be?
17 | Who were Mary's sisters? | John 19:25 | Songbirdca | 139567
Emmaus I thought so too, but the confusion lies with Mark 15:40 which reads: "There were also women looking on afar off: among whom was Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James the less and of Joses, and Salome". Now if you compare that verse with John 19:25, wouldn't Mary's sister be Salome?
18 | Who were Mary's sisters? | John 19:25 | Songbirdca | 145345
Did you notice that the same verse John 19:25 is used to show that both Mary the wife of Clopas and Salome were the Virgin Mary's sisters?
19 | replacement theoplogy is incorrect? | Rom 11:25 | Songbirdca | 139388
Thanks. I didn't realize there was such an absurd doctrine out there. I would have to say that anyone who believes in replacement theology has been greatly deceived indeed.
20 | Explain spiritual gifts ? ? | 1 Corinthians | Songbirdca | 99455
DL5 you have insinuated from your answer to the question on Spiritual Gifts that one needs to ask for them. This is not scriptural, there are no rules to receiving Spiritual gifts accept that of receiving Christ as Savior. 1 Cor. 12:4 says that there are different spiritual gifts. All are not the same, and they are gifts of grace, not earned or achieved (or asked for). However, it is the same Spirit who gives the different gifts. Vs. 5 states that there are different or varieties of ministries, but the same Lord who gives or directs these different ministries. These are spiritual ministries related to spiritual gifts. Again vs. 6 uses the words "varieties" and "same". The person of the Godhead who is connected with these workings or effects is God who works all things in all believers. The Holy Spirit gives the gifts, as He wills. You cannot "get" or "earn" more gifts than the ones you have been given since you became a believer. If that were true everyone would have all the gifts and we would not need each other. I refer you to 1 Cor. 12:12-27 on how the body of Christ needs each other. I hope this clears things up. |
