3 | Is the Heart and Soul the same? | Bible general Archive 2 | Ken hepting | 101755
[In most cases the Heart is referenced as a seat of our emotions. The soul is referenced as center of our conscience or the essence of our being.] I believe you may have that in reverse, EdB. The soul houses the mind, will, and emotions, correct? The Lord gives us a new "heart" of flesh, taking away the stony one, by the disposition of Himself within us at "new birth" which then brings a fresh desire to purify our soul making us into that new man that can be one with Him.[Jn.17] This endeavor to overcome is spurred on by our vision of the kingdom. Without that vision we perish in our effort to be. |

Thanks anyway, Fran. This forum software is narrow and tricky to navigate in. I've enjoyed better times of it on other forums. But these conversations make hanging in, worth it all. Ken |

7 | ONLY ONE BAPTISM | Bible general Archive 1 | Ken hepting | 91115
"There is only one Baptism that subordinates all other baptisms. That Baptism is the Baptism into the Body of Christ, the one Paul was refering to. All other subordinate baptism's underpin this one very necessary Baptism". The above is a statement. "Since Pentecost was mentioned it might be interesting to note there are three manifestations of the Holy Spirt, all, unlike baptisms, very significant in a Christians life. Anybody want take a crack at that one?" To repeat the question: How many "manifestations" are there of the Holy Spirit? Not to be confused with how many times the Holy Spirit has appeared throughout the Bible. Manifestation---ways which the Holy Spirit acts upon man. This is no trick question. |

8 | ONLY ONE BAPTISM | Bible general Archive 1 | Ken hepting | 91122
"You are very right that there now is only one baptism, but wrong that the great commission. Christ told them to go into all the world and preach the Gospel, baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Ghost." Oh, I see how you are saying that. But that is still only water baptism at best...could be a verbal thing like what's done in a marriage ceremony but I'd rather think that since baptism means to submerse that that's what it was, orthodoxy being observed at all times back then. |

9 | ONLY ONE BAPTISM | Bible general Archive 1 | Ken hepting | 91125
"The other baptism in the New Testament was that of the Holy Ghost, and it was only recorded twice. Once with the Apostles(Acts 2) and the second was with Cornelius". Lets not forget: Eph 19.3 And he said unto them, Unto what then were ye baptized? And they said, Unto John's baptism. 4 Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus. 5 When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. 6 And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied. 7 And all the men were about twelve. "The baptism that is for us today is to be submerged in water, representing Christ's death, burial and ressurection, and therefore being added INTO the body of Christ by God." I agree with this but it is not all there is for us as a provision from God for our intimacy with Him: Acts 2.39 For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call. That means us and He's speaking of the Baptism of the Holy spirit as demonstrated on the day of Pentecost that was prophecied by Joel 2.38. I very needed experience in ones private prayer life and worship. |

10 | What is my role in my sanctification? | NT general Archive 1 | Ken hepting | 99822
Great explanation! If I may I'd like to push it a degree further. That it is not the character of Christ to be asmmilated into us but rather Himself; His wholeness. If it can be discerned to be a larger transformation it will take us beyond the 'WWJD' experience and take us further into the "becoming a son" journey.

Mark 10:14 (NASB-U) But when Jesus saw this, He was indignant and said to them, "Permit the children to come to Me; do not hinder them; for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. Don't you think it a bit strange that Jesus could say this and He wasn't even crucified? No one seems to ever ask that question. Salvation, for anyone, wasn't even made availabble for anyone at this point in time. Yet the little children were safe regardless of the "Elect". |

Ok, but since it is an interpretation of a Biblical passage on which a demonination [s] has/have established itself/themselves, I can leave my comment stand that it is Calvinism, right?

Didn't say that. I made reference to the children of "unregenerate", "unelect" parents. Since Jesus made no distinctions, why should we? It is the 'disposition' of the child that the kingdom of God is so comprised....and requires. Jesus' words, not mine. |

[The kingdom belongs to SUCH as these, not specifically to them...] There is a difference between innocence and purity. A baby is innocent. Purity is from nuturing and not a given but must be learned in innocence. Jesus saves to make innocence by virtue of the new birth. Purity happens when we abide and are nutured into "son-ship". It says such AS these. Therefore I believe it safe to asumme Jesus means disposition and innocence; an imputation of Himself. Purifying is to happen when one hungers and thirsts and is fed "mother's milk"; an impartation of Christ through the teaching of the church. Hopefully 'mother's milk' is pure and not full of 'strodium 90'. |

agree that it is not Scripture. However, the statement that the WCF is not biblical (i..e. that its contents are contrary to the Bible) is a reflection of denominational bias....Joe How so? WCF is an 'interpretation' of that which is Biblical and therefore is open to challenge. In that I mean they have an emphasis they wish to probagate. Make sense? Ken |

Lot's, Joe. But I'll let you think about that for awhile. ....While you're thinking consider all the bad thoughts you still entertain then think about your own "purity" and ask a few questions of yourself. The first one maybe should be, "How come if Jesus saved me"? |
