If you aren't "100 percent" sure don't post it. It can be damaging to othere's reputation. Take on individual teachers within these denominations. Anyone anywhere can say that they belong to this or that and say whatever they want. Check your sources first next time. My church is New Song Community Church Portland Oregon. I can tell you that we definently believe in the Trinity. One what, and three whos. The Father The Son and the Holy Spirit. All three are God. The Watchman Expositor has a ver concise website on cults and fals teachings. http://www.watchman.org/cat95.htm Word-Faith Movement: A movement based in large part on the teachings of E. W. Kenyon (1867-1948) that became a distinct movement under the teaching and leadership of Kenneth Hagin, a Pentecostal faith-healing evangelist. God himself is said to have created the world and to do all that he does by speaking words of faith. Man’s creation in God’s image is commonly understood to mean that human beings are “little gods” capable of speaking creative words of faith. The fall of Adam into sin is interpreted as having transformed Adam (and all unredeemed people) into Satan’s nature and as having transferred Adam’s godhood or dominion on earth to Satan. Jesus is believed to have become man in order to restore human beings to godhood as renewed “incarnations” of God. He is said to have done this by dying spiritually as well as physically on the cross, suffering in hell, and then while in hell becoming the first person to be “born again,” before finally being raised from the dead. Those who believe in Jesus are supposedly empowered to speak words of faith again, especially in order to obtain bodily health and financial prosperity (both of which are supposedly guaranteed as present possessions in the Atonement). . In contrast, traditional Christian theology teaches that God and God alone can bring about whatever he chooses; that man was created to reflect God’s character and to implement his will, not to be little gods; that man is fallen but not Satanic in nature; that God is still in control of this world; that Jesus Christ alone is God incarnate; that Jesus died physically, not spiritually, to redeem us; that Jesus therefore was not born again; and that health and prosperity are promised to believers in the future resurrection. In the meantime God heals and prospers people providentially and miraculously when and as he sees fit. Most of the followers of the Word-Faith teachers are Pentecostals and other evangelical Christians. Profile available. |

I completely agree with you about these word-faith teachers. They are heritics and false teachers. I was just saying not to broadbrush all Pentacostals/Charismatics with them. The Church universal (all believers in Christ/the bride of Christ ) is made up of imperfect fleshly individuals we are going to find extremes in all denominational camps, unfortunantely. The best thing to do is to find a healthy well balanced church home that preaces the word and faithfully administers the sacrements. We do not however have to listen to the false teachers or let them into our church or home via television. The best thing we can do is "become so familiar with the truth that when a counterfeit loomes on the horizon we wil know it simultaneously."-Hank Hanegraff's quote I suggest getting into the word of God.Don't worry bout the tares around you and be concerned with yourself, are you wheat or chaff. The tares will grow along with the wheat till Christ comes for His bride. The only one we can really be sure of is ourselves. Are we in a right relationship with God? Do we personally know His Son Jesus Christ? Are we talking to Him everyday? Are we reading His Word. Are we meditating on His Word? Are we letting it dwell richly in us? Is it changing us? We are constantly being renewed daily. Daily being conformed to the image of His Son Jesus. From glory to glory. There are some questionable individuals in my church home and at one time I was a little questionable myself. God is the Author and Finisher of my faith. Amen for that. I tried too long to do it on my own and didn't change anything. I only succeded in becoming legalistic and religious. Religiosity doesn't change people it pushes them away. Romans 8:29-31 says: 29For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the likeness of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers. 30And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified. 31What, then, shall we say in response to this? If God is for us, who can be against us? |

I could not agree with you more gambling is indeed a sin. As is playing the lottery, it is sin also because it is not good stewardship of the finances that the Lord has placed in our provision. -Jeshuafreak |

That is ok Hank if you don't like it. You don't have to adopt the name. I am however "late harvest", I didn't grow up in the pews of a church. I grew up around drugs, sex, and alcohol, cons and bikers. I grew up striving to be different , before I became a Christian. Now how different I am. I am completely different from the old me. It makes me a freak, one who stands out in stark contrast to the backdrop in which I live. I am different for a good reason now. I have fully "come out of the closet" so to speak, and am not ashamed to tell others I am a Christian. And that makes me weird and freakish to the unregenerate. Let em laugh but I know the truth and the truth has set me free. -Jeshuafreak

Thank you Hank... I also would like to add that in calling myself a freak I take the wind out of their sails. If the best they can do is call me unsavory names than i have a long way to go to being truelly persecuted. I don't wish to be persecuted but Christ said that it is going to happen to those who serve Him. I am blessed to live in the USA for now. I see I time coming soon where this will not always be so. -Jeshuafreak |

Hank - I thank you again for your comments. There is much wisdom in the words you so eloquently stated. The attack on our religious freedoms is eminent indeed. Be sure to go to www.aclj.org and sign the petitition to protect the Pledge of Alegience, which is under attack. God bless you my friend and keep fighting the good fight. -Jeshuafreak aka Joshua Olinger |

Having been on the losing side of the marijuanna debate I am now completely convinced that it is sin and I can now longer entain the thought of a positive defense I humbly bow in retreat. Thank you again all of you for the lively discussion. Check out this article which is a true debate on the issue and he is a true Christian his argument is against the use of marijaunna by Christians.. it was very persuading. I can no logically debate this topic with my pot smoking Christian friends. Thank you again all of you and please let's move on. We have taken up too much space on this already. One Toke Over the Line By Douglas Wilson http://www.christkirk.com/images/Marijuana.html "But suppose this is granted, but a further question is asked. What about the fellow who is not wiped out? He smokes marijuana but remains (at least in his own mind) fully functional. He grants that "drunkenness" is always wrong, but denies that marijuana has to produce "drunkenness." Why cannot cannabis provide an equivalent experience to wine gladdening the heart of man? We have to look at this argument carefully. We have seen that drunkenness is flatly prohibited by Scripture, but we have to recognize that other uses of alcohol are approved and encouraged throughout the Bible. In order to do this, we must back up. According to the Bible, alcohol has at least five lawful scriptural uses. Let's look at each, and see if there is a parallel to marijuana at that point. The last one we will consider is the "gladden the heart" argument." SEE ARTICLE FOR THE WHOLE DISCUSSION. |

I especially liked his ending. I will pray more on this, I don't want it to be an issue for me and to hinder my reaching out in love to my pot smoking Christian friends. I have isolated and cut them off like lepers when my love should be of the top most priority. I can't put myself away in a Christian comune I have to reach out to those who are in bondage and perishing for the lack of knowledge. "Christian liberty is given so that we might learn to be holy. "That he would grant unto us, that we being delivered out of the hand of our enemies might serve him without fear, in holiness and righteousness before him, all the days of our life" (Luke 1:74-75). Those who desire holiness have to walk away from marijuana for good. " |

18 | What is the right amount to tithe. | OT general | Jeshuafreak | 54502
I wanted to say that it was mainly a heart thing rather than a legalistic compulsion or self imposed law. It should come down to purposing in your heart to give "X" amount of money. A tither is a good place to start. I really liked your illustration and I have given a 10th off the top for quite a while. I also gave a tenth off my tax return. It is not only about money. It is about our heart. God sees the intentions of our heart, sometimes...er maybe alot of times He sees the original intent before we do. He alone sees or motives and were our loyalties lie. If our loyalties lie in the Kings domain we are deemed good subjects...if our number one , top priorities lie anywhere else our loyaty is not for the King. My priorities have at times been all out of whack..and still are in a certain respect...Thank the Lord He is looking at my heart's intent and not at my track record....we are no longer clothed in the filthy rags of our humanity or of our own self-righteousness. We stand clothed in the righteousness of the Lord Jesus Christ. **(I switch back and forth from first person and second person to emphasize that I am part of the "you"- sorry bad grammer but you can folow me i am sure)** *** sorry bout the rabbit trail..I tend to do that alot...****Tithe not out of "have to" but out of "want to". A lover will out- serve a hired servant anytime. Give a tithe out of honer, love, respect, sense of duty for the build up of the body of believers-the bride. Tithe and give offerings to the Christian missionary that God has put upon your heart. Offering is what you want to sacrifice...couple Mocha -Cappucinos or a soul reached with the good news....That's why I said last post to look at your pocket book and see where your focus is ...is it on things eternal or temporal.. Of course you have to pay living expenses but when it comes to extras where do your loyalties lie. Do they lie with the King or with the subject.. Do they lie with the Creator or the creation. "Where your treasure is there your heart will be also." - know it's in the text somewhere..see if you can find it before I do..lol. Thanks again Steve for the illustration I copied and pasted it for my own personal use if you don't mind. God bless you and your's..Thank You Lord for this opprtunity to come together on a forum such as this. I pray Lord God that we continue to edify one another, to build up with exhortation (transitive senses : to incite by argument or advice : urge strongly intransitive senses : to give warnings or advice : make urgent appeals) that is rooted in the principles taught in the 66 books of Holy Spirit breathed Word of God. That is able to divide joint and marrow to cut right to our hearts it is salt and it is light. Salt to presrve and heal, clean. Light to inhibit growth of mold, disease and fungus. To cause good seed to flourish and to bring fruit to maturity. The Word is also water to cleanse, refresh and prevent the drying out or dehydration of the viable plant. God's Word is revealed in His creation. Let him who has eyes to see and ears to hear. Praise Him who made heaven and earth . Praise Jesus Christ the Holy Lamb of God teh Passover lamb who bore the sins , the iniquity of us all, He who laid down His life, He became the bridge back to God, teh only Way by which all humanity can be saved. READ THE BOOK OF JOHN. I better stop now I could go on and on . I love You Jesus!!! Praise You Father God and thank You Holy Spirit for living in me and bringing such wisdom and clarity and illuminating Your Word Jesus and showing me a simpleton the plan You have layed out from the beginning in Genesis on through to Revelation. It is only the beginning and I pray that You continue to reveal You Word to my heart and my mind And most of all that You will continue to bring me up into the fullness of Your Son, Father God, Jesus Christ who is the express image of God. I know i will never be perfected here but one day I will be glorified in heaven. Please continue the salvation and regeneration, justification, and sanctification and ultimately glorification. In Jesus name I pray AMEN |
