Dear Justme, If you think your computer may be at fault, you may want to download Ccleaner. It is especially good for people who spend alot of time online and it has NO spyware, adware, or any-ware type junk. I use it on a daily basis. Dhaniei |

2 | Is there a reason to debate? | Bible general Archive 4 | Dhaniei Zewditu | 219928
John, I don't see this discussion at all as a debate where one is trying to convince another. I see it as a few people who are sharing views that slightly differ, but it appears all have scriptural basis. We are simply sharing insights, maybe right, maybe wrong, but no one is getting upset, we are just trying to learn.... Isn't that what StudyBibleForum is for? To share and learn? Sorry our discussion offended you. Dhaniei Merry Christmas all. |

Merry Christmas to you, John The Bible is far from silent regarding the events of the Passion Week. It gives us a timeline, just not explicitely clear to us - but the scriptures are not silent about it. Besides, if God didn't want us asking questions, He would not have created us with inquisitive minds. Today we would not be discussing His word on an internet forum, we would be out in the field without even a wheel or a hoe to help us do our work. Instead, He created us with minds that ask questions, that figure out problems, that bring light and understanding into our lives where once there was darkness and confusion. :o) Dhaniei |

hehehe No need at all to apologize, but thank you for it anyway. People usually do have trouble with my name (how to pronounce it) so I rarely notice it. sure didn't notice it this time. I've misread names on this forum too. Hope your day has been a joyful one? Dhaniei |

John, Just because something has been a part of traditional belief doesn't mean it is true. I recall a man who had a bunch of problems because he discovered that the planets revolved around the sun and not the earth as had been believed up until that time, and many continued to believe that the earth was the center of the universe - but they were wrong!!! How long did the people believe that the Pope was the all in all? How long did the people believe that only the Pope and bishops and elders should be able to read the Bible? Isn't that why the Reformation took place? Cause those people were wrong? (Note, I'm not saying that I'm right, just that long time belief of or in something doesn't make it right.) If you recall, I originally stated that I believe that He arose during the Havdalah period, which, in actuality, would be considered the first day of the week (to the Jews, but not to the Gentiles - to them it would still be Saturday evening). Have a good night Dhaniei |

6 | What is origin of grace before meal? | Bible general Archive 4 | Dhaniei Zewditu | 220085
Doc, Thank you for the further info, but isn't blessing food a somewhat superstitious thing to do? Thank God for His goodness, yes; request blessings on those at table with you, yes; bless the food? for what reason? Why does that which God considers to be food and good for nourishment need to be blessed? I can see in the feeding of the multitudes that Messiah blessed the food, but I'd always seen that as possibly being for a miraculous increase over what would have been normally possible with what was available. That wouldn't be necessary at an ordinary dinner table... Dhaniei |

8 | Page format of the new NASB giant print | Bible general Archive 4 | Dhaniei Zewditu | 220227
Hi prr, I have one, it's 2 columns, verse by verse, with references at the end of verses (Just to be sure we are on the same page, my large font NASB is size 15 font, genuine leather, runs about 50-55 dollars at the local bible store.) You can also go to CDB and pull up several pages to view. Dhaniei |

Doc, Lockman itself sends one to one of 3 different sellers. I noted CDB (one of the three) from experience, usually the lowest price, quick shipping, and it lets you take a look at the inside of most bibles. Sorry for misunderstanding Dhaniei |

10 | Five fingers relation with the Church | Bible general Archive 4 | Dhaniei Zewditu | 220351
Makarios, I think the person may be referring to the WOF version of the hand. It's not scriptural, but here it goes: Thumb represents Apostle because it covers the whole hand, and is distinctly NOT a finger but can stand in any of the other four "offices" quite admirably. Pointing Finger represents the Prophet (which is the office of Hinn, Copeland, Hagen, etc, according to themselves) because they point the people to God, to repentance, to turn away from sin, etc. Middle Finger represents the Evangelist because it stands the tallest, is easiest seen and recognized, is the "glue" keeping the other four digits in unity. The Ring Finger represents the Pastor because it is the finger symbolizing the "marriage" of the church to God and to the five-fold ministry. Little Finger represents the teacher, small but vital to the health of the whole hand, without it the hand may live on but it will be malnourished and deformed. :o) Dhaniei |

11 | How is Fri to Sun 3 days and nights? | NT general | Dhaniei Zewditu | 219333
Dear Searcher, I must agree with you on the Friday thing (or Nissan 15) as this would be the first day of the 7 days of Unleavened Bread. This first day (whatever day it falls on each year is a Special Sabbath). Special Sabbaths have a few less restrictions to them (such as being able to prepare the meals, a bit more traveling distance, etc.) but the restrictions such as touching a corpse still applies. If one follows the days, counting backwards, in the book of John (John 12:12-13, you quoted it yourself), we actually find that Yeshua's (Jesus) arrival in Jerusalem was not on a Friday, but on the Sabbath (most likely Fri. evening after sundown, but still to the Jew, on the 7th day, on the Sabbath). Then we have the 4 days that the Lamb was to be brought into the house and examined. (Again, you stated it!) It was a common term to call the Temple the House, and He was indeed examined for 4 days by the Pharisees, Saduccees, scribes and ordinary people for the next 4 days and was found to be without fault, spot or blemish. He was slaughtered on the 4th day of the week, the Saduccean Day of Preparation (this would be Weds. when the earth was covered in darkness). (The Pharisaic Day of Preparation fell on the next day, according to the time the very first meal was eaten in Egypt, which was around midnight on the 15th of Nisan.) This would put our Lamb in the tomb sometime before sunset on Weds. evening to the time just after sundown on Saturday (a time the Jews call Havdalah, a very short period of time where heaven and earth touch, where the holy merges just for an instant with the common as we leave the holy for the mundane of the coming work week[just a tradition, but a very profound tradition]). Within a few short hours, very early on Sunday morning at dawn, there is the wondrous finding of an empty tomb!! So, we have Weds pm to Thurs am equaling 1 night. We have Thurs pm to Fri am equaling 1 night. And we have Fri pm to Sat am equaling 1 night. 3 Nights. We have Thurs am to Thurs pm equaling 1 day. We have Fri am to Fri pm equaling 1 day. We have Sat am to Sat pm equaling 1 day. 3 Days. He was never actually in the tomb on Sunday, He had risen, His empty tomb was discovered on this wonderful day. Dhaniei |

Justme, Amen and amen!! Although it's not an issue to become divisive over (very few are) I do believe that a prophecy that is so clearly one of Messiah, one that is so "black and white" must be reconciled or it will have to bring into question other prophecies that are not so clear and yet are accepted as concerning our Savior. It is not something that I feel compelled to convince anyone on, I've put it out there for everyone's consideration, that's all. If I'm right, I've done what is required, if I'm wrong, please forgive and we both know our Father will straighten me out, lol. Dhaniei |

Searcher, In your scenario, you seem to have left out the 4 days of inspection that the lamb is to go through before the actual slaughter after it has been chosen and taken into the house (which would have been day one)? Dhaniei |

searcher, It most likely was Saturday (according to John 12) that He entered Jerusalem, but in the evening. After sunset it would have been considered the first day of the week but still a part of the waking time of the current day. (I observe the Jewish calendar and hours and it can get a bit confusing at times :0) ) Dhaniei |

Shalom again, doday, I do agree with you on the Weds crucifixion (at the third hour) but not on the rising. I believe that happened on the Sabbath during the time just as the Sabbath is dissolving into the first day of the week (today this time period is called Havdalah - separating the holy from the common). The scriptures never actually state that Messiah rose on the first day, only that the tomb was discovered to be empty at dawn. But this really shouldn't be a divisive subject, just put the possibilities out there and let anyone who wants to chew on them - the fact that He Arose is what is important!! Amen?! Dhaniei |

Greetings doday, I simply use the "sign of Jonah" (three days and three nights) quote from the Master Himself. The timing works out just fine - not exactly 72 hours (as some demand) but 3 actual nights and 3 actual days. Dhaniei |

Good morning doday, Oh, sorry. I think I misunderstood your request when I first read and answered your post. I can be dense sometimes (too much always going on in the background - kids). I use the narrative from John chapter 12 to get the starting point, Saturday evening entry into Jerusalem, the 4 days of inspection, the day of slaughter being the 4th day. Then you have our Savior in the grave, Weds pm-Thurs am, Thurs. day, Thurs pm-Fri am, Fri/ day, Fri pm-Sat am, Sat. day, then rising as the 7th day dissolves into the first day. I also get alot of my information from extra-bilbical sources, such as the Mishneh and the Talmud. (Believe it or not, those two volumes of books can really help to answer some difficult Christian questions, especially where it concerns customs and traditions during specific time periods.) Doday, I have no problem with Shabbat morning, or afternoon, or evening, not at all. I am just extremely convinced that it was on the 7th day that He arose. When things get quieter here, I will look further into your timeline. But, once again, it is the fact that HE AROSE that is the biggest concern!! Dhaniei |

Lightedsteps, What a nice screen name. When there are a number of hours involved, then a portion of that day could be considered a full day. But when it is only just over maybe an hour, I don't think a Jew or a Gentile from 2000 years ago or today could in good conscience state it was a full day. I don't count Weds just before being placed in the tomb as a day, I count it as the first night (using a timeline of 6pm to 6am as a night and 6am to 6pm for a day). Once again the Bible is quiet on exactly how much time elapsed from Messiah giving up the spirit (which was around 3pm) to His actual burial, but one would imagine thay it took some time for Joseph to get a personal interview with the leaders and to obtain permission to take care of the burial since being thrown in a common heap was part of the humiliation that crucifixion had in mind. We only know that he had only about 3 hours in which to do all of this - so the actual placing of our Savior into the tomb was probably very close to the "cut off" time. The Last Supper as portrayed in the Gospels has always been considered the Pesach by most Christians. I believe it to be a traditional meal eaten by Galileans when the time changes days the day before (that would be our Tues. evening), then the Galilean first-born men of the area would fast until the actual Pesach meal some 20 to 24 hours later.
