1 | Defend the Offender-Attack the Offended? | Bible general | CDBJ | 241667
I have found that it’s best to turn many situations over to the throne of grace and let the Lord iron out the problems. If there has been any wrong doing He is more then able to fix the situation and there is a time coming when we must all stand before the judgment seat of Christ. Then there is are several promise we can claim. Isaiah 26:3 (NASB) "The steadfast of mind You will keep in perfect peace, Because he trusts in You. Job 5:21 (NASB) (A) "You will be hidden from the scourge of the tongue, Proverbs 6:16 (NASB) There are six things which the LORD hates, Yes, seven which are an abomination to Him: Number seven is: Proverbs 6:19 (NASB) 19 A false witness who utters lies, And one who spreads strife among brothers . My two cents worth, CDBJ |

Hi Jashar, I’m sure glad to see this portion in your post, “we have to arrive at a conclusion based on our knowledge of Scripture at the time.” Is the “truth” of God’s Word determined by our lack, as it were, of the accumulated knowledge of the Bible? I’ve been a believer of Jesus for close to 65 years now and a believer in Jesus for over 42 years. I think I’m growing at a faster rate now then when I was first saved due to the knowledge of Bible doctrine and the building of Scripture upon Scripture to arrive at truth. Many of my views have changed over the years with regards to certain doctrines. Psalm 119:160 The sum of Thy word is truth, And every one of Thy righteous ordinances is everlasting. The sum of God’s word doesn’t mean “some of God’s word” but “all”, and that being the accumulation of “all” the verses that pertain to a specific doctrine not just pet passages that we like for the purpose of backing up our misunderstandings. Have fun and have great day, CDBJ |

Greetings, You claim the following with regards to marriage of couples that aren’t "godly": Your statement; “No that is not what I suggesting. I know that people who do not have a relationship with God get married as well. But I was taught that those marriages are not acknowledged by God.” Since you were taught that information and seeing this is a Bible study, the biblical evidence that God doesn’t acknowledge those marriages, rest with you. I’m not saying your wrong; I just don’t know where this is taught in the Bible, if you could site the location of this information, i.e. chapter and verse and then we could all be privy to it. 2 Tim. 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: I’m still learning and seeing that my wife and I just celebrated our fiftieth anniversary maybe I could spring that one her and check out her reaction? We were married 8 years before either one of us became a child of God. CDBJ |

Greetings and reference to your take on l Cor. 13:10, Your logic seems realistic enough, looking at the verse from an English translation but the Koine Greek spells it quite differently. 1 Cor. 13:10 (KJV)(A) English But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away. 1 Cor. 13:10 (KOINE GREEK) (A) When (HOTEN) but (DE) comes (ELTHE) the (TO) completion (TELEION) The word translated as perfect in the English is from the base word (TELEIOS) (Adjective) pronominal, or having the function of a pronoun. In the nominative case, i.e. designating, of, or in the case of the subject of a finite verb. It is in the neuter gender; Jesus Christ is masculine gender not neuter gender., singular person It all points to the completed Cannon of Scripture which was to come later after Paul spoke these words and being finished with the book of Revelation by the apostle John. Greetings rdc, Those sure are some pretty word but aside from citing biblical chapters and verses it really doesn’t explain all that much on a Bible forum. Sometimes, if Scripture isn’t given, our vernacular expressions confuses others; I’m afraid that I fall into that category at this juncture. 2 Tim. 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: It’s usually "customary" to make a personal declaration then back it up with God’s Word. Here is one that you claim and I’m not quite sure how that works. “I should go on but it becomes tedious to the boastful.” Why should you go on, and how is it tedious to the boastful; I've never seen it be much of a problem for them? You mentioned the KJV of the Bible and commercial versions; does that mean that your KJV was free or something? I would like to suggest that you might want to add the denomination that you mentioned, in your post, to your User Info; sometimes it helps: I’ve never heard of that denomination? I hope you enjoy the forum, CDBJ |

Hi Sq, Where does the person of Jesus Christ fit into all that you have mentioned? Your first answer was that you were saved and you felt it. The problem is the Bible doesn’t back up what you say, were feelings; the Bible deals with facts and the feeling can’t be trusted! The process for forgiveness doesn’t include asking God to forgive you; it’s confession of your sins! God has already said He will forgive you so don’t insult Him by asking Him if He will, just do what He tells you. 1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. What is the Word of God telling you to do in that verse? Confess or admit your sins to Him and if you do that, what does God say He will do for you in return? He WILL forgive your sins and cleanse you from ALL unrighteousness. Do you believe what God says? The only reason why God can do this for you is because of what God did for those sins in the person of His Son Jesus the Christ. The problem with most believers that exercise the promise of 1John 1:9 is that 10 minutes after confessing their sins they commit another one and they are right back where they started before they confessed; out of fellowship again. On top of that most start having a guilt complex and that’s a sin as well and then they need to confess that sin to the Father! There are sins of omission and well as sins of commission that puts one out of fellowship. My advice to you would be to confess you sins to God the Father as soon as you sin then start forming some good study habits; like starting in the gospel of John and reading as much every day as you can right straight through to the end of the Bible. Buy yourself some marking pencils and start underline promises. Follow that with starting over and reading the whole New Testament from Matthew again to Rev. Then do it with a different translation and then start with Gen. and read to the end of the Bible! Always ask God to reveal the truth of His word before you read! 2 Tim. 3:16-17 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: 17That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works. 2 Tim. 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. Let God talk to you through His Word; you need to get back to Square one while you still have a chance. If you are still alive, God still has a plan for your life, CDBJ |

Hi Steve, 1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. The word confess as found in the previous verse is the Koine Greek word HOMOLOGEO and its etymology originated in the courts where the accused was told to admit or state what was done even though he was caught in the act. When Jesus used the word “repent” He had not yet paid the price for sin. Now since the death of Christ on the cross, God is able to forgive the believers sin because of what Christ did to satisfy the righteousness and the justice of God. All of our pre salvation sins where handled the moment we believed in God’s Son Jesus Christ. The “penalty for sin” was paid for at the cross but our post salvation sins aren’t forgiven until we confess them to God the Father thus "restoring" fellowship. Any sin, in the believer’s life, quenches or grieves the indwelling Holy Spirit; and even though He will never leave us, since we are always indwelt by the Spirit from point of salvation, we can still lose His fellowship by neglecting to exercise the function of 1John 1:9. That was the big problem that was taking place in Corinthian church. 1 Cor. 3:3 For ye are yet carnal: for whereas there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are ye not carnal, and walk as men? They were neglecting to get back in fellowship and as a result they couldn’t grow because the Holy Spirit was grieved and couldn’t teach them, i.e. they were out of fellowship and needed to be filled. Ephes. 5:18 And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit; The word filled or, PLEROO, means to fill up a deficiency or get back in fellowship. All sin before the death of Christ could only be covered or atoned for, but not actually removed and dealt with. God's Messiah actually removed sin being the perfect Lamb of God. Before Jesus paid the awesome price for sin one needed to ask for God to forgive him on a different basis other then what we have, since his propitious work is "completed". Thus my implication that it is an insult to God to ask for forgiveness since God has already made the provision in the person of His Son. Now I suppose I have everyone confused, CDBJ |

Greetings, Why is it that “you” believe that? Here is my reason: 1 John 1:5-8 This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. 6If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth: 7But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin. 8If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. Greetings, Since you don’t provide Scripture with your answers it’s hard to understand what it is you are trying to say, and even if it were clear it would still only be the counsel of a man and therefore not dependable. Psalm 119:160 The sum of Thy word is truth, And every one of Thy righteous ordinances is everlasting. Greetings, If she is a “speaker at different churches and groups”; I wonder what it is she is communicating to those church groups? If, as you say, she doesn’t realize that what she saw in the “vision” wasn’t normal then what is it that she considers normal, biblically speaking? By sharing that situation with others is she trying to say that she has some kind of a special in with the Lord and people should listen to her more because of this “special” vision. 2 Tim. 4:3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; If it were me, I would listen and observe, and try to figure out where she is going with this; maybe it’s nothing but time will tell, CDBJ |

Hi Val, It appears like you are really letting this thing beat you up. The next time “she” brings it up, ask her where she thinks this vision of hers might fit in with the revealed Word of God, the Bible? You might want to ask her what her thoughts are with regards to the “finished cannon of Scripture”, or if there is more to come? Paul even warns us about thing outside of God’s written Word. There are forces at work that “can be” within the realm possibility but that doesn’t mean they are all from the Lord. Example: Galatians 1:8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. You might be surprised what some believe in opposition to what the Bible conveys as truth, and the woods are full of them. 2 Cor. 11:13-15 For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. 14And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. 15Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works. Hi Val, She is very fortunate to have someone like you that care for her! The safest and best approach is always the Word of the Lord. If you can get her actively engaged in a sound Bible discussion group it would do her a world of good. See what your local churches have to offer in the way of “home Bible discussion groups”. I’m not talking about the standard church setting, as it were, but a small home study setting with sound Bible doctrine. Acts 20:20 And how I kept back nothing that was profitable unto you, but have shewed you, and have taught you publickly, and from house to house, CDBJ |

18 | How do I forgive adultry if it continues | Bible general Archive 4 | CDBJ | 202138
Greetings TJS Interesting response but what do you mean by the following, “I have sought to correct my behavior.” Does God actually forgive us on the basis of our trying to correct our behavior and if so where does Christ fit into that picture? Do you think you will be accepted into heaven on the basis of your trying to doing better; how good is good enough? Are your sins more refined then the sins of others? There is only one sin that condemns one to an eternal condemnation. John 3:19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. John 20:30-31 And many other signs truly did Jesus in the presence of his disciples, which are not written in this book: 31But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name. John 3:36 He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him. John 3:5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. Where do you stand in relation to the previous verses? Have a nice day, CDBJ |

Question, When the following was spoken by Thomas do you suppose that he could have had an insight that you might be lacking? John 20:28 And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God. Couple that with what these verses. Matthew 28:18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. We all know that God will judge everyone at some point in time so just who is it that’s doing the judging? John 5:22 For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son: God is a spirit therefore He has no blood yet if Jesus isn’t God how could the next verse be possible? Acts 20:28 Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he (God) hath purchased with his own blood. Your theology appears to have a few holes in it and I can see why you wouldn’t bother answering this post “if in fact you realize” what I have posted with scripture is true! CDBJ |
