1 | Does God love everybody? | Rom 8:39 | swerv | 155025
His elect are those who reflect their love for God by obeying His commandments. This does not earn salvation but reveals to God our heart in wanting to serve and obey Him. The question we then must ask ourselves is what laws did God put in our heart for us to obey. Although, the covenant has changed from Old to New - God still wants us to obey His laws which instead of being written on stone - are now written on our hearts. The only reason we have a New covenant is because fault was found with the people of the Old covenant because they could not keep the promises they made as part of the Old covenant. But now the New testament is based on better promises from Jesus. If we accept Him - He will give us the Holy Spirit which will enable us to keep His laws. No matter what - the people will be saved in the end at Jesus return - are those who keep His commandments. In love, Swerv |

2 | Why did God test Adam and Eve ? | Genesis | swerv | 153384
Sorry for typos : Final part of questio should read: If so, then why do so many Christians argue so strongly that we are no longer required to be obedient to God's instructions ? Note: This requirement (test of obedience) given by God was prior to there being a sin committed by Adam and Eve. Although sin existed in Satan and angels - Adam and Eve were "sinless". 3 | What is the Sabbath? | Heb 4:1 | swerv | 151550
I grew up keeping Sunday but it seems that there is no scriptural evidence for a change of the sanctified Holy day to Sunday. I have talked to a Jehovah Witness and they do not believe that Sunday is a "new Sabbath day but instead agree that one day in seven should be kept as a rest day. I am a Protestant but have explored the views of the 7th Day Adventists. I would agree strongly that it appears that the Sabbath is the 7th day but the question is do we need to keep it as NT Christians. Look forward to more discussions !! Merv |

5 | Scripture reference? | Rom 6:14 | swerv | 147261
Tim: James 2:18-24 Rom. 9:31-32 So question is just cause we have faith does it mean we do not follow the law - God forbid. Oviously, faith is shown by our obedience. But many "churches" want to call this legalism. But clearly this watering down the gospel. Just because our judgement is delayed till the time of Christ's return - we should take note how strongly God has dealt with disobedience in the OT. Pretty clear that is we are claiming to be saved and do not really want to know what God's law requires then we are watering down our salvation. We know what goes does to the lukewarm. 6 | Why didn't God create us without sin? | Gen 3:15 | swerv | 146391
We have free will just as the devil had free will to rebel. The devil convinced Adam and Eve to sin which is to disobey God. God could have destroyed the devil at the very first sign of his rebellion against God. But what would prove to all the other angels that rebelling was not good other than the fear of being destroyed by God. That is not love that is a dictatorship. Instead God would allow the sin to takes its course and provide a way for man to come back into love relationship with Him. In the end the whole universe and all God's angels and created being will see the result of sin and the love of God to give a chance to sinners to repent. There will never be sin again because God has now shown the outcome of that decision and no one will ever what to go that way. God had to be proven to be just and merciful at the same time. God will not accept out worship out of fear but only out of love. And even though He gave us the free will to chose sin over love - Gof proved His love to all mankind and the universe by never stopped loving us even in our sinful state. Hope this helps !!! Merv |

7 | In what way is it clear? | Bible general Archive 2 | swerv | 146029
Hi Tim: Thanks for the question. No I do not believe Christ is the one who set up the abomination. The Text says "He shall bring an end to sacrifice and offering.(period) And on the wing of abominations shall be one who makes desolate, even until the consummation, which is determined, is poured out on the desloate. After Christ is crucified and resurected He is heaven with the Father. The predicted downfall of Jerusalem is predicted here in Daniel and also Jesus made the same predictons in Math.24. Verse 15 of Math. 24 says that when you see the "abomination of desolation" spoken of by Daniel - standing in the holy place - then let those in Judea flee to the mountains. This is exactly what happened. Rome invaded and utterly destroyed Jerusalem. This was a judgement predicted by God through Daniel and repeated by Jesus to His disciples. The "one" who comes on the wing of this abomination is the antichrist system which will lead the Church away from the truth and persecute people who try to keep the truth. This antichrist is/was the Roman Catholic Church. Their false doctrines still exist in the majority of Protestant Churches. See some of my other notes for comments. I look forward to your reply, God bless, Merv |
