1 | Hebrews 6:6 explained | Hebrews | steved | 42089
It seems these verses, Hebrews 6:4-6 (NASB), can best be explained by way of the covenant. We are are united to God in covenant by baptism (6:4 - enlightened). God deals with us in covenant, not as such individuals but as a body of believers, the church. We regularly take the Lord's Supper (tasted of the heavenly gift) and participate in weekly worship (partakers of the Holy Spirit, tasted the good word of God). To leave the church and turn from God (fallen away). We all believe that once we are saved we cannot loose our salvation. So this must be talking of the 'wicked among the righteous'(Matt 13:47-50), the people who are in the church but not really christian. |

3 | Are there degrees of punishment in hell? | Luke 12:47 | steved | 4139
I think you have answered your own question with the verses you have listed. Pastor A.N. Martin has an excelent series of sermons on hell, with one entitled 'Degrees of Punishment'; I think it is #4 in the series. You can go to their website http://www.tbcnj.org/ and get a catalog. (the book service link; you may find it on line, I do not know. I hope this helps. SteveD |
