1 | Could cain do well? | Gen 4:7 | sniper | 79489
If I understand your question, Cain could have done well. Man has freewill and makes his choice as to whether he will seek and serve God. Cain knew the right thing to do, but he did not want to serve God in the way that God had prescribed. When God was not pleased, Cain's pride was injured and he killed his brother. Cain could have offered the proper sacrifice, but he wanted to do things his way.
2 | Faith plus Baptism or Faith alone? | Matt 7:13 | sniper | 78006
Just a quick note on "faith alone". James 2:24 You see that a man is justified by works and not by faith alone. I believe that this the only place in the Bible that "faith alone" is used. |

3 | Identifying the born again moment | NT general Archive 1 | sniper | 77839
Dalprad, I appreciate your question. It is a good one. First, I would like to state that I believe salvation is by faith through grace and is not earned through works of righteousness. This is what the Bible teaches. Having said that, I would like to point out some other Bible teaching on how we can identify the moment we repented and followed God in faith. Acts 2:38 Peter said to them, "Repent, and each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. Acts 2:39 "For the promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off, as many as the Lord our God will call to Himself." Acts 2:40 And with many other words he solemnly testified and kept on exhorting them, saying, "Be saved from this perverse generation!" Acts 2:41 So then, those who had received his word were baptized; and that day there were added about three thousand souls. Acts 22:16 'Now why do you delay? Get up and be baptized, and wash away your sins, calling on His name.' 1 Pet 3:20 who once were disobedient, when the patience of God kept waiting in the days of Noah, during the construction of the ark, in which a few, that is, eight persons, were brought safely through the water. 1 Pet 3:21 Corresponding to that, baptism now saves you--not the removal of dirt from the flesh, but an appeal to God for a good conscience--through the resurrection of Jesus Christ, This is not an exhaustive list, but it points out some Biblical teaching on identifying the moment that God forgave our sins. |

5 | disciplerami, must it be immersion? | Bible general Archive 1 | sniper | 77081
Just a quick note. The word was never translated. It was transliterated. That is, the tanslaters for King James made the greek word into an english word. A proper translation would have been "immerse".
6 | To be saved must we be baptised? | Acts 2:38 | sniper | 76481
Peter had just the message of Christ. The listeners were pierced to the heart (v37). In other words, they believed the message and were convicted. They did believe. Notice that Peter did not refer them to his earlier statement (v 21) that they should merely call upon the name of the Lord. He said, "Repent and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins: and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit." Notice also in Acts 16 that in response to the question in verse 30 Paul said said they needed to believe, and then Paul delivered the gospel in verse 32. In immediate response to what was taught they were baptized (v 33). You'll see the same pattern throughout Acts. The Ethiopian Eunuch was immeditely baptized after hearing the Gospel. Paul relates his own conversion in Acts 22. He was told in verse 16 to not delay, but arise, and be baptized, and wash away your sins, calling on his name. Some say a "sinners prayer" is all that is necessary, but I do not find that prescription in the Bible. If I did, I would do it because that is what God asked. I must respond with faith to what is written. What is written is, if you believe, and are repentant, then be baptized for the forgiveness of sins. |

7 | Is sin inherited from father and mother? | Rom 5:12 | sniper | 75587
This is a long thread and I have not read the whol thing. I apologize for coming into the middle of a discussion. I see a simple answer right in Romans 5:12. Death spreads to all men, because all men sin. The sin is not passed on, but each person sins for themselves.
8 | How Does Baptism Save? | 1 Pet 3:21 | sniper | 75481
Great question! Baptism saves you because it is the point at which God sees your faith and your desire in faith to be cleansed. It is just as James describes, Abraham was justified by his works and not faith alone(James 2:21-26). Let there be no misunderstanding, Paul tells us Abraham was justified by faith(Romans 4:1-5). However, James teaches us that Abraham's faith was only made alive through his works. Faith without works is dead. God has given a command, which out of faith and love we then obey. We obey out of faith and love because to obey as though we were due a payment in return is an attempt to earn the unearnable. Righteousness is not reckoned because of a work, but because of the faith behind the work.
