1 | salvation and the law | Rom 3:24 | sdtaylor99 | 151496
Eph 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Eph 2:9 Not of works, lest any man should boast. Here is the verses by Paul.... The problem is that people stop after these verses. Paul agrees with James in the very next verse. Eph 2:10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them. I am saved by grace though faith, but true faith will produce works. Which is what James is saying when he says, "Faith with out works is dead." For example: I go to work every week with the faith that my employer is going to give me a check at the end of the pay period. If I did not have true faith, I would not go to work, but since I do believe they are going to give me a check at the end of the pay period, I show up for work every day. I hope this helps you, and God bless you. Scott |

2 | 100 percent accurate interpretation | Jon 1:1 | sdtaylor99 | 109741
I believe we, including you, can get the correct interpretation of the Scripture. I think most people get the words intepretation and application mixed up. There is only one interpretation of the Scripture and in order to get the interpretation, you have to look at why the author was writing it and who he was writing it to. You have to understand the history of the time period and what was going on when the author says what he says. There are times you may have to look up the meaning of the original greek word to get a better understanding. There are many applications. I believe this is where people get confused as the interpretation. In the application, one person may read a verse and feel that God is speaking to him about something personal, while another person may see something totally different and apply that same verse in a different area of his life. I hope this has been helpful. Keep growing in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. |

3 | What does this verse mean? | Luke 19:40 | sdtaylor99 | 109155
I'm not sure how true this is, but I heard a preacher say something that was interesting on this subject. This preacher has his Doctors degree, and I'll give you the web site at the end of this in case you want to hear the message. He said that he has heard that scientist now say that rocks not only reflect sound, but rocks also capture sound and the sound gets traped. The scientist say that one day they will be able to go to Mount Everest and pull out the actual voice of (I think it was Abraham Lincon). If this can be done, then God would have drug out the voice of Zacherias to Praise His name. The preacher said to give scientist a few years and they would catch up with the Bible. If you want to hear the message, you can go to the following web site and listen to the message by Johnny Pope. The message is titled, "A White Stone". http://biblepreaching.com/ I thought is was an interesting thought. I hope this is helpful to you. God Bless you. |

4 | What is 'perfect for all time?' | Heb 10:14 | sdtaylor99 | 108106
It seems that you know the scriptures quiet well. I believe perfection is in three different phases. 1. When a person is saved, they are sanctified and the Lord takes them out of sin. 2. As a believer grows they have a progressive sanctification, where the Lord starts getting sin out of them. 3. When we get to Heaven, we will have sin totally removed from us. If it were possible for us not to sin as Jesus had done, God could have and possibly would have used someone else for the sacrifice. But He was our one sacrifice for sin forever. 1Jo 3:9 Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God. We are born of the incorruptable seed. We still have a fleshly nature about us, but the Spirit of God in us cannot sin, because he is born of God. This flesh will go back to the dust and the part of us that is born again will go to be with the Lord. I believe that is the struggle that Paul was talking about in Romans 7; the warfare between the flesh and the Spirit. I hope this has been helpful to you. Keep growing in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. |

5 | RAPTURE: PRE-TRIBULATION OR NOT? | Bible general Archive 2 | sdtaylor99 | 108066
Revelation 4:1 After this I looked, and, behold, a door was opened in heaven: and the first voice which I heard was as it were of a trumpet talking with me; which said, Come up hither, and I will shew thee things which must be hereafter. Look at the context of this verse. It may help you out. The voice that John heard told him that he would "shew thee things which must be hereafter." The question that needs to be ask her is, "hereafter what?" In chapter 2 and 3 of Revelation, we are told about the church ages, so the voice has to be talking about the things after the church age. 2 Thessalonians 2:7 speaks of the Holy Spirit being taken out of this world. When the Holy Spirit is taken away, the believer will go to heaven with the Holy Spirit, becuase we have the promise that God will never leave us, nor forsake us in Hebrews 13:5 The church is not mentioned again in Revelation until we see the church coming back with Jesus in Revelation 19:7-14. This tells me that when we leave this world, the tribulation will start and then we will come back with Christ when he comes to fight against the army of the Beast. I hope this has been helpful to you. Keep growing in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. |

6 | Can women preach? | Luke 24:1 | sdtaylor99 | 107816
That depends on what you mean by "preach." Every believer is commanded to tell others about the grace of God. Mar 16:15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. If you are talking about Pastoral type preaching, Paul tells Timothy to not let a woman have authority over a man and that the women were to learn in silence. He also refers it back to the beginning of time. 1Ti 2:11 Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection. 1Ti 2:12 But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence. 1Ti 2:13 For Adam was first formed, then Eve. 1Ti 2:14 And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression. I have discussed this with a woman before that said she was a preacher. She said that the women that were to be silent were the married women, so that didn’t apply to her because she was single. I ran a reference using a concordance on prophetess and found that all of them, but one, were married. The one was not mentioned being married or not. I have more study to do on Prophetesses, but from my understanding, I don’t believe they were over a congregation. Paul wrote the instructions for the church, though the inspiration of the Holy Ghost, after Prophetess are mentioned, so I am not sure if Prophetess even apply to us now. Paul also told Timothy that a Bishop (Pastor) is to be the husband of one wife, which would rule out a woman. 1Ti 3:2 A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach; I hope this has been helpful to you. Keep on growing in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. |

7 | WE ARE THE BRIDE OF CHRIST, WHERE IS IT? | Rev 21:9 | sdtaylor99 | 107660
These are the Words of Jesus. Mat 11:11 Verily I say unto you, Among them that are born of women there hath not risen a greater than John the Baptist: notwithstanding he that is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he. John chapter three gives the account of being born again, then moves to John the Baptist being in Prison. Hear are the Words of John the Baptist. Jhn 3:28 Ye yourselves bear me witness, that I said, I am not the Christ, but that I am sent before him. Jhn 3:29 He that hath the bride is the bridegroom: but the friend of the bridegroom, which standeth and heareth him, rejoiceth greatly because of the bridegroom's voice: this my joy therefore is fulfilled. In the context, John the Baptist plainly says that we are the bride of Christ. Keep growing in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. God bless you. |
