1 | satan and angels cast out? | Is 14:14 | roverjbh99 | 56760
Isaiah 14:12-14 is your best bet. It says (Quotes are from RSV): "How you are fallen from heaven, O Day Star, son of Dawn! How you are cut down to the ground, you who laid the nations low! You said in your heart, 'I will ascend to heaven; above the stars of God I will set my throne on high; I will sit on the mount of assembly in the far north; I will ascend above the heights of the clouds, I will make myself like the Most High.' |

3 | where does peter say | Matt 16:28 | roverjbh99 | 46386
You are refering to 2 Pt 1:16-18: 16 For we did not follow cleverly devised myths when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we were eyewitnesses of his majesty. 17 For when he received honor and glory from God the Father and the voice was borne to him by the Majestic Glory, "This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased," 18 we heard this voice borne from heaven, for we were with him on the holy mountain. --- Unless otherwise stated, all scripture quotations are from the Revised Standard Version, Copyright (c) 1946, 1952, 1973 by the Division of Christian Education of the National Council of Churches of Christ in the United States of America. |

5 | What was the "discharge" Bible? | Bible general Archive 1 | roverjbh99 | 9392
Hank, The Apocrypha has 18 books not 15. Joshua |

6 | Who wrote the letter to the Hebrews? | Hebrews | roverjbh99 | 8360
I have always belived that Timothy wrote Heb. Why? Because in some KJV Bibles there's a small note that says the book was written from Italy by TIMOTHY. Bruce Metzger and Henry Halley accept Pauline authorship; J. Vernon McGee lays out a defense of Pauline authorship. Only God knows.

8 | When and where Moses put in the Nile? | Ex 2:5 | roverjbh99 | 7261
The scripture says: Pharaoh's daughter came down to bathe at the river. Her maidens walked along by the riverside. She saw the basket among the reeds, and sent her handmaid to get it. She opened it, and saw the child, and, behold, the baby cried. She had compassion on him, and said, "This is one of the Hebrews' children." (WEB) You can't conclude from that passage were Moses was dropped off at. Looking at a map of the mid-east and Africa will show that the Nile is a pretty long river. Moses could have been dropped anywhere in the Nile River area. As regards to the date, Henry Halley writes that it could have been 1200-1400 BCE. Hope this helps. Joshua |

9 | Looking to download the NASB | Bible general Archive 1 | roverjbh99 | 6936
The NAS (1995 Update and 1977 Edition) can be downloaded as part of the Online Bible. Go to their site at http://www.online-bible.net to download. Do a search for NAS in the main searchbox. To use the NAS, you need to pay 20.00 to the publisher for copyright reasons. You will need the main software to use. If you have a palm pilot/Pocket PC, Olive Tree has the NAS (1995 Update) for a good price. Their main software is also free. Their site is http://www.olivetree.com. I like the NAS, but do yourself a favor and get an NRSV. |

10 | But the older NASB did. Why? | Bible general Archive 1 | roverjbh99 | 3926
Ashley, I believe the reason the NASB and RSV (Revised Standard Version) translators stuck with the Thees and thous is that it was a sign of respect the the AV. Also, It was a link in the great tradication. Josh |

13 | What do you think of new Holman Bible? | NT general Archive 1 | roverjbh99 | 4237
Christianbook.com has posted a copy of John for people to read. As I write, I've read a few pages of the HCSB translation of John. It reads like the NIV or ISV. As a Southern Baptist, it begs me to ask why the SBC had to pump monies into this latter day NIV. That money could have been spend on missions or improving the churches. In the meantime, i'll keep on using and recommending the NAS95 and NRSV. It's the best we have.

16 | What is the best version of the Bible? | Bible general Archive 1 | roverjbh99 | 3733
Every version since 1881 has claimed to be the "best". I believe it's up to every child of God to decide. I have made this decsion. In my view the best versions are the KJV, the New Revised Standard Version (NRSV) , the American Standard Version (ASV), The NASB95, and the World English Bible. BTW, don't believe KJO.
