1 | Did Jesus claim to be God? | NT general Archive 1 | rev_raines | 40034
Jesusman, I can't think of a verse right now, but as I read your question this jumped into my head. Though Jesus never said at these times, look at each time people would come and worship him. He never once told them to stop. Jesus accepted that which was reserved for God alone. Hope this helps. Rev Raines |

2 | Who is Bartimus? His significance? | Mark 10:46 | rev_raines | 40032
labellalilac, I'm assuming you're refering to the story recorded in Mark 10. Bartimaeus was a devine appointment for Jesus. His mention in the Scriptures is to show faith. He screamed out to Jesus even though the people around him told him to be quiet. He kept on until Jesus heard his call. When asked what he wanted, he asked in faith "Rabboni, I want to regain my sight!"(Mark 10:51). What Godly principles does he embody? None that I really see, though after being healed he followed Christ. Maybe he was one of those present at Penecost? I can't think of anyone to contrast him with. The only people who would compliment him would be the other people healed by Jesus. I hope this is of some help to you. If you need any further help please feel free to ask away. God bless, Rev Raines |

3 | sin is a sin? | 1 John 5:13 | rev_raines | 39815
First of all, I would like to correct you on your statement that Jesus was half God and half man. Christ was fully God (100 precent) and was also full man (100 precent). It sounds strange to say that and doesn't make sense in humann logic, but it is the truth. (See Philppians 2). That aside, sin is sin. We are humans, we will sin. John warns us that if we claim to not sin we are a liar and we belittle Christ's sacrifice on the cross. God has provided the payment for our sin, it is our job to try to live up to Christ's example in order to lead others to Him. God did give you common sense to tell the difference between good and bad, but it can be compromised by our sin nature. We need to rely on the Holy Spirit to lead us in that determination. I hope this helps in your understanding. God bless you in your study. Rev Raines |

4 | Does God bring calamity to redeticate ya | Jonah | rev_raines | 35659
peggling88 In the case of Jonah, God used a storm and three days in the belly of a large fish to turn Jonah back to Him. But the most significant example is God scattering the 10 tribes that made of the Northern Kingdom, by using the nation of Assryia and later using Babylon to scatter the two remaining tribes. After this "calamity" Israel never again turned to idol worship. God does use circumstances to get our attention, but only after he gives us fair warning to turn from our sin. I wouldn't use the word calamity as much as I would use the judgement. God bless you, Rev Raines |

6 | JOSHUA NOT MENTIONED IN HEB. CH.11? | Heb 11:32 | rev_raines | 33798
As much as I agree that Joshua should be included in the "Faith Hall of Fame" (Joshua is my favorite OT character). The list is not suppost to be exhastive. Look at the others that were not mentioned, ex. Elijah, Elisha, Isaiah. The author is pointing to these individuals as examples that we can follow. Though Joshua is not mentioned by name one event is mentioned that connects him to the "Hall of Fame." Verse 30 mentions the fall of Jericho! I hope this helps. God Bless you Rev Raines, Is 40:31 |
