1 | Saved by belief or belief and baptism? | NT general Archive 1 | rchrd_wiliams | 201107 | ||
If you take the bible liturally yes. John 3:5 suggests that both are neccesary. also if you examine Col 2:12 it expresses the importance of death with Christ, and when I mean die I mean the death of our old selves and the the birth of the new. Most peole shrug off the symbolism of baptism as just symbolism ( but ask your self this if its not essential then why did Jesus tell his disciples that those who believ AND are baptised are saved?(Mk 16:16) Its most commonly believed that through faith in Christ alone you are saved and its true but like Moses we must act by faith and by doing such strengthens your faith so that you wont lose it down the road.
