1 | Diff between tongues of men and angels | 1 Cor 13:1 | ranaymarie | 37128
no, we don't know what Jesus looked like. And I don't believe we are supposed to know. Jesus appears to each individual as they seek to know Him as He in His infinite wisdom knows we need to see Him. He did not leave us with an image limited by our eyes to remeber and worship, but a whole life, with meaning beyond our senses. Jesus is the epitamy of all that is magnificent, beautiful, captivating. He has left us with something to look forward to - TO SEEING HIM - because He is still a man in Heaven.
2 | Diff between tongues of men and angels | 1 Cor 13:1 | ranaymarie | 37124
In Revelation Chapters 8,9 and several others, John refers to the angels as "angel sounded" Angels sing, angels praise. The sounds they make I can only imagine must be beautiful beyond our ears. I believe they speak as humans, and I believe their utterances go beyond our language as well. In Genesis chapter 18 Abraham was visited by angels, they spoke to him. What I believe ICor. 13:1 is referring to is the issue of LOVE. The angels language, means of worship, sounds they make are beautiful, eloquent as McGee describes it, but without love the sounds would be empty. And I quote V.McGee "You can sing like a seraph, but without love it is nothing but the hiss of hell." |
