1 | don't mary a non believer | Ephesians | quvmoh | 206876
2 Corinthians 6: 14 is the verse they are referring to, however the context really doesn't specify that it's referring to marriage. In fact, the context is referring to Believers and Unbelievers being in partnerships together, not just marriages. Yes, the meaning of Believers shouldn't be marrying unbelievers can be understood from this passage, but it can also be understood from Ephesians chapter 5. Ephesians 5 is dedicated to marriage, relationships, and family. Paul tells us that we, as christians, should conduct our relationships in a manner that reflects Christ with the Church. How can an unbeliever understand that concept? The unbeliever can not. It's written elsewhere that things of the Spirit and of God are foolishness to the Unbeliever. I referred to Ephesians 5 because that chapter specifically refers to the topic at hand. Quvmoh |

2 | wrong and right to marry the person | Ephesians | quvmoh | 206861
Well .. given that Hosea was commanded by God to marry an adulteress, I don't think there is any right or wrong person to marry as long as it is God's will. However, Paul's message to the Ephesians is to love your spouses and be true to your spouses. In fact, Paul tells the husbands to love their wives as Christ loves the church. So, I'd recommend starting with Ephesians chapter 5. Quvmoh |

3 | Speculation? | 2 Tim 2:23 | quvmoh | 206846
Greetings, The scientific process of developing a hypothesis, testing said hypothesis, then readjusting the hypothesis based upon the findings can apply to studying the Bible. It is one thing to speculate on the Bible's meaning, but just don't leave it at speculation. Study the Bible from all it's aspects to test your speculation. Then alter your speculation to fit your findings in scripture. Then you repeat the process until your initial speculation now fits with the words of scripture. You never change scripture. You change your beliefs to fit within the context of scripture. You do this by careful study. quvmoh |

4 | To jehovah the earth belong | Bible general Archive 4 | quvmoh | 206735
Greetings, You ask first who Jehovah is. As I said, Jehovah is God. Jehovah is the English transliteration of the German transliteration of the Latin transliteration of the Hebrew name of God: YHWH. To further explain, When Jerome translated the Bible from Greek and Hebrew into Latin, he transliterated YHWH into Latin Characters. Several centuries later when Martin Luther translated the Bible into German, he transliterated the Latin form of YHWH into German. When the Bible was translated into English, they used the German word for inspiration and is thus: Jehovah. So .. that is a summary of how we got the spelling of Jehovah. You asked how you can live with Jehovah's day in mind. Without any clarity, I am assuming you are referring to either the Sabbath Day, which is Saturday, or The Lord's Day, which is Sunday. What I say next is not written to be forceful, rude, or aggressive, but to help answer your question. God did not have to create anything in existence, but he did. God did not have to reveal himself, but he did. God did not have to send Jesus, but he did. God does not have to provide for our needs, but he does. God did not have to save us from our sins, but he did. God does not have to bestow his Grace and Mercy on us, but he does. God does not have to do anything for us. He does these things, and more, for us because he wants to. God provided his son: Jesus. God provided his law to Moses. God provided his perfect will to his prophets. God provided his Holy Word to his followers. God revealed his perfect righteousness. With all that in mind, how do YOU think you should live? quvmoh |

6 | What is meant in Luke 4:10 | Luke 4:11 | quvmoh | 206658
This passage is the temptation of Jesus by Satan. Satan is quoting Psalms 91:11-12 here, incorrectly I might add. Psalms 91 is a Psalm of God's divine protection and deliverance. Loosely meaning that God will send his angels to protect against even stubbing your toe on a rock. quvmoh |

7 | Jesus weeping over Lazarus | John 11:35 | quvmoh | 206656
I would say neither. It is speculation on anyone's part as to why Jesus cried. The context really doesn't clarify. Those who watched it said it was because Jesus loved Lazarus, as noted in verse 36. It could also be due to their lack of faith as hinted at in verse 32-33. However, to raise Lazarus, Jesus would have had to bring him back from Paradise. I think that is why Jesus was crying. He had to deny Lazarus paradise in order to perform a miracle that helped to further prove his claims as Messiah. There are many other possible explanations as to why Jesus cried. Maybe he had allergies that day. No one knows. The important thing is that these tears show us that Jesus wasn't some way off, unfeeling person, but someone with great compassion. quvmoh |

9 | Paul's circumstances writing Rom 8:31-39 | Romans | quvmoh | 206615
Greetings, The writing of Romans took place possibly in Corinth during the last leg of Paul's third missionary journey, while enroute to Rome. Romans was written to prepare the Church there for his arrival. One contributing factor to these words would have been the growing abuse that the Christians were receiving from the Roman Empire. The words he wrote in verse 31 would have rung clear and loudly to the Christians in Rome. "If God is for us, Who can be against us?" Combine that with the message of previous 7 chapters, It would have been a very moving and powerful statement. Quvmoh |

10 | once saved, always saved-Bible location | NT general | quvmoh | 206506
Greetings, As some of the others have said, the phrase "Once saved, always saved" isn't found in the Bible. However, that doesn't invalidate the teaching. The term "Trinity" isn't in the Bible, yet the teaching is there. The Term "homosexuality" isn't in the Bible, yet the act is still described as being wrong in the Bible. So this is not something unique. There are a variety of passages that support this. The first is Romans 8. Another is 1 Peter 1:3-9, as well as John 3. quvmoh |

12 | Verse For Testing Leaders? | 1 John 4:1 | quvmoh | 206398
Greetings, 1 John 4:1 is one of the verses that tell us to test and examine. 1 Thess 5:21 tells us to examine everything. Acts 17:11 tells us that Paul and Silas both went to a church in Berea and the People of the Church were examining the scriptures of everything they were told was true. 2 Timothy 2:15 tells us in the KJV to "Study". In the Nasb is says Be diligent. However, the message is the same. Paul tells Timothy to handle the word of God accurately, which comes through proper study and examination as well as prayer and guidance from the Holy Spirit. quvmoh |

13 | jews,gentiles,ethninticity??? | Genesis | quvmoh | 206249
Well .. the logical solution comes from Noah. He had three sons. Now while that might seem like a stretch at first given the amount of time needed for a small group of people to expand into a nation or larger, there is also another aspect to consider. When it comes to the Bible and time, the old testament makes use of family trees and genealogies. Calculating these genealogies strictly and literally will give you a date for the age of the earth of roughly 10,000 years. However, science tells us different. Those who calculate the genealogies like this are using what is termed the "closed genealogy system". However, the Bible gives us clues that these genealogies may not be strict and literal, but perhaps telling us who the important members of the family line are. For example, the close of genesis to the start of exodus gives enough time for a hand full of people, namely Joseph, his brothers, and their wives, to procreate into a group estimated at over 3 million. That figure is one I heard once in relation to this topic. Anyways, that takes a significant amount of time, not just a couple centuries. Also, given how popular Joseph was, there had to have been a considerable amount of time to have passed for his name, even if legend, to have been forgotten by the nobility. So where does that leave us? It leaves us with the explanation needed. Noah and his sons and their families ultimately spread throughout the world. Enough time could have easily passed for the racial differences to appear. quvmoh |

If you are referring to denominations, then the answer lies in doctrine. There are 5 basic doctrines which every denomination adheres to. However, there are several other doctrines that the denominations will vary. Basically, they agree on what's important but differ in the details. quvmoh |

15 | How to Understand andApply this Passage? | 2 Cor 10:12 | quvmoh | 205982
Greetings, A common message through out Paul's writings is Pride. Paul wrote a lot about the dangers of pride and this is one of them. He cam from a society based upon class and elitism. The higher up you were, the better you were. Paul is trying to prevent that here. He believed you shouldn't have any form of christian social classes. He also believed you shouldn't be bragging about what you have or what you can do or what you've been blessed with that others haven't been. He believed that if you want to boast and brag about anything, Brag about the power of God and Jesus Christ. For Paul, it is far better to Brag about God in order to build up the church than to brag about yourself. Paul states elsewhere that we as individuals are parts of a whole. We on our own are not as powerful or influencial than as we are when together. Quvmoh |

16 | Binding and Losing? | Matt 16:19 | quvmoh | 205980
Greetings, This passage is where Peter openly confesses that Jesus is the Christ. Now, the context isn't Jesus speaking to Peter alone. Notice in verse 13 that he is speaking to all his disciples. Also notice that verse 18 ends with a period. So verse 19 begins a new thought, as it were, still in the context of speaking to the Disciples together. Now, also look at Acts 1:7-8. Here, Jesus has raised from the Dead. He's speaking to his followers and tells them that He has the Authority and will give them the Power. These are two different words in the Greek. Basically, Jesus is saying, I have the Authority and the Ability, but I'm giving you limited power to do these tasks I have for you. This passage in Matthew 16:19 is reflecting this. Jesus is saying, I will have these keys and the power to use them. I will let you have access to them. There is only one set of keys, and Jesus has them. It would be like a Dad tossing his teen age son the car keys on occasion. They still belong to the Dad, and the teenager will return them to the Dad, but in the mean time, they are in the teenager's possession. quvmoh |

17 | Creeds and Confessions Needful? | Bible general Archive 4 | quvmoh | 205811
Claiming to be a Baptist is like claiming to be an American. There are as many denominations among the Baptists as there are subcultures within America. There are Southern Baptists, Cooperative Baptists, Free will Baptists, Anabaptists, Independen Baptists, American Baptists, and on and on. Each one has their own set of beliefs. Some are conservative, others liberal. Some are calvinists, some arminean. Some are Dispensationalist, some aren't. There are a wide variation and variety of beliefs. I personally hold to the Southern Baptist beliefs. Most, if not all, of the churches I have been involved in are Sola Scriptura. The Bible is the only word of God. I'm not sure if this answers your questions or not, but perhaps it does help. quvmoh |

18 | homosexual brain wired that way at birth | 1 Cor 6:9 | quvmoh | 205754
Greetings, I read a great deal of this thread and am curious why no one brought up Romans chapter one. Romans chapter one does more than simply say that Homosexuality is wrong. Paul also deals as to why it's wrong as well as why people engage in homosexuality. He begins in verse 18 by saying that God's anger and wrath about sin is clearly known to all people. On the day of judgment, no one can use "I didn't know" as an excuse. Ignorance may be bliss in many things, but not when it comes to what makes God mad, which is sin. So .. what does God do? He punishes the sinful. He lets them continue in their ways, which leads to the false religions we have now. However, it doesn't stop there. This leads to sexual immorality and perverted sexual acts. This continues on to homosexuality, which leads to hatred, malice, lies, even murder, jealousy, and arrogance. Finally, it leads to death in sin. It begins with God clouding the minds of the fools that other men thought of as brilliant. You ask why is Homosexuality is still wrong even though science seems to say different. Paul answers it in Romans. These scientists are the ones people of today see as wise and brilliant, but are nothing more than what Paul describes as Fools with darkened hearts. Quvmoh |

19 | Knowing gay minister unequally yoked? | Bible general Archive 4 | quvmoh | 203998
The Bible comes right out and describes homosexuality as being wrong in Genesis, Leviticus, and in Romans. I think there's a couple of other places where it's described as wrong also. So the issue about being a Christian and being Gay should be self evident. Being a minister and being gay only makes it worse. As for unequally yoked, I'm not sure of the scripture reference off the top of my head, but I'm sure that its in reference to a believer being married to a non believer. I'll respond more later when I have time to sit down and confirm. Quvmoh |

20 | what is the meaning of Hebrews ? | Hebrews | quvmoh | 203673
I assume you're referring to the Book of Hebrews. This book sets up and clarifies Jesus Christ as out High Priest. The author uses terms that a jew of his day would understand. Instead of a human priest or mediator as the Mosaic Law describes, Jesus fills that role. Hebrews has a tendancy to confuse the young christian mainly due to its advanced level of doctrine. In fact, the author comes right out and says in chapter 6 "let's leave the elementary teachings behind .. ". To put it in today's understanding, if the Gospels are the freshmen classes in college, then Paul's epistles are the sophmore level classes, and Hebrews is the Junior or senior level class. Quvmoh |
