1 | Have I lost my first love? | Job 1:1 | ngkh | 177036
Hi Theresa, I hope the following verses will speak to your heart. Hebrews 10:32-39 32Remember those earlier days after you had received the light, when you stood your ground in a great contest in the face of suffering. 33Sometimes you were publicly exposed to insult and persecution; at other times you stood side by side with those who were so treated. 34You sympathized with those in prison and joyfully accepted the confiscation of your property, because you knew that you yourselves had better and lasting possessions. 35So do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded. 36You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised. 37For in just a very little while, "He who is coming will come and will not delay. 38But my righteous one[f] will live by faith. And if he shrinks back, I will not be pleased with him."[g] 39But we are not of those who shrink back and are destroyed, but of those who believe and are saved. and also Matthew 11:28-30 "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30For my yoke is easy and my burden is light." So I encourage you to rest unto the Father (by faith) for He is forever faithful. Blessings to you in the name of our Lord. |

2 | Will Christians be judged at our death? | Luke 23:43 | ngkh | 176980
Hi, What would you view from the following verses Luke 23:39-43 39One of the criminals who hung there hurled insults at him: "Aren't you the Christ? Save yourself and us!" 40But the other criminal rebuked him. "Don't you fear God," he said, "since you are under the same sentence? 41We are punished justly, for we are getting what our deeds deserve. But this man has done nothing wrong." 42Then he said, "Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.[f]" 43Jesus answered him, "I tell you the truth, today you will be with me in paradise." or perhaps Hebrews 10:15-39 15The Holy Spirit also testifies to us about this. First he says: 16"This is the covenant I will make with them after that time, says the Lord. I will put my laws in their hearts, and I will write them on their minds."[b] 17Then he adds: "Their sins and lawless acts I will remember no more."[c] 18And where these have been forgiven, there is no longer any sacrifice for sin. 19Therefore, brothers, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus, 20by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain, that is, his body, 21and since we have a great priest over the house of God, 22let us draw near to God with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water. 23Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. 24And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. 25Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching. 26If we deliberately keep on sinning after we have received the knowledge of the truth, no sacrifice for sins is left, 27but only a fearful expectation of judgment and of raging fire that will consume the enemies of God. 28Anyone who rejected the law of Moses died without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses. 29How much more severely do you think a man deserves to be punished who has trampled the Son of God under foot, who has treated as an unholy thing the blood of the covenant that sanctified him, and who has insulted the Spirit of grace? 30For we know him who said, "It is mine to avenge; I will repay,"[d] and again, "The Lord will judge his people."[e] 31It is a dreadful thing to fall into the hands of the living God. 32Remember those earlier days after you had received the light, when you stood your ground in a great contest in the face of suffering. I think the most important verse is here in Hebrews 10:22 22let us draw near to God with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water. In the case of the blind man who was healed of sight and the stoning of prostitute, Jesus did warned them "go and sin no more" So I believe that we will be forgiven but we will still face judgement if we deliberately sin further after receiving the truth (verse 26) Hope the above helps. Blessings in the name of our Lord. |

3 | wages of sin | Rom 6:23 | ngkh | 176295
Romans 6:23 22 But now having been set free from sin, and having become slaves of God, you have your fruit to holiness, and the end, everlasting life. 23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Blessings to you in the name ofour LORD. |

4 | the Spirit of Truth | John 7:17 | ngkh | 167349
I'd like to share my experience that may be relevant to the question. Perhaps reading 1Corinthian Chapter 1 thru 4 might help. It helped me when I had issues with my church pastor's sermon about pursuing excellence. I felt that they were very "work" based. Thus a difference in opinion. I was asked by my concerned elder from where I got my feeding from and I shared with him that I read Watchman Nee, Kenneth Hagins, Derek Prince books. My elder gave me the impression that I have to be careful about the books that I read. So who is right , who is wrong? I believe the Lord then led me to 1Cor which was very appropriate and His message is very clear in the 4 chapters. Chapter 1:10 ( Division) I appeal to you, brothers, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree with one another so that there may be no divisions among you and that you may be perfectly united in mind and thought. Chapter 1: 20-25 (feeding from men?) 20Where is the wise man? Where is the scholar? Where is the philosopher of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world? 21For since in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom did not know him, God was pleased through the foolishness of what was preached to save those who believe. 22Jews demand miraculous signs and Greeks look for wisdom, 23but we preach Christ crucified: a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles, 24but to those whom God has called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. 25For the foolishness of God is wiser than man's wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than man's strength. 1Cor 2:4-5 ....but with a demonstration of the Spirit's power, 5so that your faith might not rest on men's wisdom, but on God's power. 1Cor 2:6-16 (Wisdom from the spirit) We do, however, speak a message of wisdom among the mature, but not the wisdom of this age or of the rulers of this age, who are coming to nothing. 7No, we speak of God's secret wisdom, a wisdom that has been hidden and that God destined for our glory before time began. 8None of the rulers of this age understood it, for if they had, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. 9However, as it is written: "No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love him" 10but God has revealed it to us by his Spirit. The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God. 11For who among men knows the thoughts of a man except the man's spirit within him? In the same way no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God. 12We have not received the spirit of the world but the Spirit who is from God, that we may understand what God has freely given us. 13This is what we speak, not in words taught us by human wisdom but in words taught by the Spirit, expressing spiritual truths in spiritual words.[c] 14The man without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned. 15The spiritual man makes judgments about all things, but he himself is not subject to any man's judgment: 16"For who has known the mind of the Lord that he may instruct him?"[d] But we have the mind of Christ. 1Cor 3:5-9 (Does it matter who I get the feeding from i.e. my pastor vs Hagins, Prince etc) 5What, after all, is Apollos? And what is Paul? Only servants, through whom you came to believe—as the Lord has assigned to each his task. 6I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God made it grow. 7So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow. 8The man who plants and the man who waters have one purpose, and each will be rewarded according to his own labor. 9For we are God's fellow workers; you are God's field, God's building. 1Cor 4:5 (God will reveal in His own time) 5Therefore judge nothing before the appointed time; wait till the Lord comes. He will bring to light what is hidden in darkness and will expose the motives of men's hearts. At that time each will receive his praise from God. Finally, 1 Cor 4:20 20For the kingdom of God is not a matter of talk but of power. I'm sorry that I have to almost list out the 4 chapters for I do not know how explain with just one ot two verses. Anyway,I believe that it is still the spirit in us that will guide and reveal at an appropriate time. We must continue to soak ourselves in the Word, and that's one way of getting to know Him just as faith comes by hearing the word of God. I'd like to mention also that my pastors sermon last week took a 180 degrees turn to my surprise and delight. He said. "The church building is secondary" (we are moving to a new bigger and modern premise). "The efforts that we put in is secondary. It must always be about Jesus Christ. It is always His show. not ours." |

5 | Help!!! | Bible general Archive 3 | ngkh | 162926
I heard a cd by Peter Tsukahira on God's Tsunami and he had raised some interesting issues. Their book states that Ishmael was the son that was put up for sacrifice and not Isaac. Esau was the chosen one and not Jacob in direct contradiction to the bible. But Peter conclude that there will be a time like Jacob (Jews) and Esau (Muslims) , Joseph and his brothers, will have a time of reconciliaation and that the Muslims will the Gentiles that will bring the Jews to the Lord. I think his book "God's Tsunami" is worth reading. |

6 | What's the Greek word 4 worship Jn 4:24 | 1 Cor 14:26 | ngkh | 159679
Thank you for moving me to seek the Greek understanding as I do not know. From what I understand from 4:24 context and the following is a passage that I obtained from the study. The verse was in reply to a question by a Samartian woman who supposed that the true God could only be worshipped in a Temple of some form. To correct her essentially materialist view of worship, Jesus declared that God the Father, being spiritual by nature, can only be worshipped "in spirit and in truth" (John 4:24). Thus true worship does not require physical devices like temples, church buildings, wooden crosses, or any of the apparatus that was used by the Jews in their temple -- true worship is to make contact with God through the spirit in man, for God is Himself spiritual by nature. There is a real diference between "a spirit" and "spiritual". A man may be spiritual whether he has a physical body or not, because the word defines his nature, not his form or substance. Thus Abraham, who is a spirit in Paradise (the spirit world), is spiritual; but when he was on earth in right relationship with God he was also spiritual. Thus to be spiritual is not to indicate whether the person possesses a physical body or not. However, by your encouragement, I am learning my first Greek but I don't think we are to kiss like a dog licking the master's hand, among other translations if one insist on using the above translation. I am only trying to highlight that true worship is to make contact with God through the spirit in man, for God is Himself spiritual by nature. How would you define the spirit in man? Can I say that God only understand English, Greek or Hebrews? Then why not tongues? Did I said that only tongues get connected? What I meant was that at times when I pray in my native language or English for that matter, I felt that the spirit was not in me (shooting blanks) when I made that prayer but when I pray in tongues, I felt the spirit in me at these times. Perhaps I might have written something that might not be agreeable to someone but like I said at the first instance, it's my thoughts and my experiences with the Lord. I am not saying that everyone should do it but I do encourage it. If you disagree, fine! I will always remember the lesson that I am constantly encouraged by the Lord. Proverbs 3:5-6 God Bless. |

7 | what Bible says about poison your body | Rom 12:1 | ngkh | 159623
Hi Tay, I was a smoker for more than 25 years and before the Lord took away that desire last year, I was advised by the following scripture about quiting smoking or even suicide. 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 19Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own;20you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body. Hope this help. God Bless. |

8 | does God take away his promise form you | Rom 6:14 | ngkh | 159226
If you have Christ in you, would you sin again? Romans 6:13-15 And do not present your members as instruments of unrighteousness to sin, but present yourselves to God as being alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness to God. 14 For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law but under grace. I believe the question should be "Do I have Christ in me rather than how many times will God forgives me. Just my 2 cents worth. |

10 | Need help to get into the bible | John | ngkh | 156014
Hi, I started to read Christian books 1st for e.g Derek Prince's books where scriptures were given for whatever topic is being done. I would strongly recommend Foundations for Righteous Living by Derek Prince. Then I would refer to the bible to get a better context. So you can say that I'm jumping here and there as far as scriptures is concerned. I tried to read Genesis first but like the Lord of the Rings which I got lost at epilog, I found it very hard to read. However, I believe God had made things easier for me. Audio Bible. I'm a far better listener than a reader and so I was listening to the bible cd when I'm traveling in my car thru traffic jams and in no time, I've finished with OT and the 4 Gospels.( Faith comes by hearing, and hearing of the Word?) The 4 gospels were easier to understand but I had a change in mindset after reading/listening to Paul's epistles. I also believe that listening to past sermons (from my church as well as others) which had been taped will eventually get you to read the bible as you will be slowly slowly but surely being drawn to seek the Word just as I did. Just sharing my experience although it may not be the correct way. |

11 | The work of God: hearing with faith? | Gal 3:5 | ngkh | 144563
As for me, I truly believe in the works of the holy spirit. John 14:15-17 15“If you love me, you will obey what I command. 16And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor to be with you forever– 17the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you. John 7:38 38Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, streams of living water will flow from within him.” By truly believing, surrendering and "faithing "(no such word in english?- its like a continous tense of faith or "Pistis" in Greek if I am not wrong), I believe the Holy Spirit's guidance is in me, in my growth with the Lord when I realised what God had planned on my character building (one thing after another) by the church, blessings that came, peace, etc. In some ways, I felt a lot of Christians that I know have worked and worked for their salvation and found themselves disillusioned by the works. Would it be wrong if I were to say that, we need not try do anything at all for our salvation? If God has a task for me, I will feel the Spirits guidance when I am called to work. Thus I don't go searching for things to do to please anyone in church - not even my pastors. However, It does not mean I do not serve the Lord at all. I do when I sensed the Holy Spirit instruction either by the word or situations that arises that I will be involved in for the works will then be spiritually led and thus far, all the tasks or assignments that I've done, even when things seems hopeless, He will always prevail and things just fell into place after much prayers of course. As long as I know that whatever I am doing is for His purpose and no one else, I'll be fine. I'm also an advocate on God's timing. Eccl. 3:1 1 There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven: Thus even if things don't work out, I do not feel frustrated. Dissapointed yes but not anger. Just my own feelings. |

12 | Who goes to heaven? | Rev 20:12 | ngkh | 141603
I believe John 14:6 is pretty clear. Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. So if you do not believe you do not go to the Father. That's probably why there are so much savings to do for a christian, I suppose. What about good works? I watched a play "Heaven's gate Hell's fire" before accepting the Lord and I asked the same question too. Could not find a satisfactory answer then. But later as I walked further, I began to understand God's Grace (In the book of Romans and Galatians) about the holy spirit in you and of "dead works" which can mean good deeds becoming insignificant. Its not easy to explain in just a few paragraphs. I would recommend that you study Romans and Galatians and one book "The foundations for righteous living" by Derek Prince. That answered my question in addition to others. God Bless |
