1 | Am I Biblically free to marry? | Bible general | meta | 243737
Dear Friend, Your desire for freedom is a good thing. There is a freedom that is far more valuable than the freedom to remarry. It is the freedom to live a new life unto God by the power of the resurrection. Let me commend you for your actions of stepping down from a fraudulent ministry position. You took a stand for truth and for God. Bless you for that. Obviously this was undermining to the enemies plans and He was able to use your wife to come against what The Holy Spirit was intending to do with the two of you. It seems you were poised for repentance and a renewed walk with Christ. One in which you could come to know the King of Love better which would also bring deeper satisfaction in your relationship with Him and with her. If you want an answer from the Law I would say that you are free to marry. If you want an answer from the Spirit, It would be a step in a very wrong direction at this time. It should be obvious that something which opposes God is operating in your life. You will not have a successful relationship with any woman until you are healed and delivered from what ever is operating in your life. This is an obviouse pattern and ther is no evidence that you are in any position to avoid its consequences again and continuously in your future. It is like a snowball rolling downhill. The problem will only get bigger until it hits a tree. That tree is the tree our savior was crucified on. The cross is your hope right now. If you confess your sin He is faithful to forgive your sin and cleanse you of all unrighteousness. God mays have someone for you in the future but He cannot bless any relationship that you enter into until He prepares you for that relationship. The only way that can happen is to grow into a beautiful healthy relationship with Jesus Christ. I have some good news for you. Jesus wants that for you even more than you do and He is willing to take you there. It is not up to you to make it happen. We are not self made men in the Kingdom of God. All of the good that is found in us is produced by The Spirit of God. Our part is to be honest about our sin and to agree with Him in what He desires for us. He is willing and able to bring about a relationship with Himself that is filled with joy and a freedom that is so far beyond what you can now comprehend. It requires a couple of things on your part though. 1/ That you agree that you need a new life in Him. 2/ That He wants that for you too. 3/ That you cannot make that happen. 4/ YOU MUST BELIEVE THAT HE WILL MAKE IT HAPPEN. The scripture says that if we pray according to God's will He hears us and if He hears us we know we have the answer to our request. The scripture also says that when we pray we are to believe that we have received the answer to our request and then it shall be done for us. It should be obvious by now that this new life will have to start with a new prayer life. He will bring it about but we must want it. It is not a tedious repition of requests we hope will be answered. It starts with falling in love and experiencing intimacy with your Savior. It is Him you must seek. It is possible for you to try and find a good biblical church with a righteous man at the helm but end up deceived again. Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit are able to find that right church and pastor for you. Again you must learn how to pray. He is your teacher. He will take you there. He will even inspire the prayers. Remember If you ask for a piece of bread He will not give you a stone. If you ask for a fish He will not give you a serpent You have a whole new life awaiting you in Christ. Never give up hope, keep reaching out to this forum and other people you can trust. When it comes to The Kingdom of God you are like a baby that is learning to walk. It doesn't matter how long you have been a Christian. The Kingdom of God is so much bigger and more glorious than you ever imagined. Its time to go for it. When you find yourself saying "There must be more" you are on the right track. This is my prayer for you based on Eph.3:16-21 I ask our Father that He would grant you according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with power through His Spirit in the inner man; so that Christ may dwell in your heart through faith; and that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love which surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled up to all the fullness of God. Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us, to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations forever and ever. Amen (I would memorise) God Bless you. Let Him create a man worth giving to a woman then He may find a woman worth giving to that man. However by that time it will be far less important. Your desire for Love will be filled with Him. |

2 | Will God forgive me? | Jude 1:24 | meta | 235023
Dear friend, It is evident by the tenderness of your heart that you did by no means fall away. If every time we had a thought that was not divine, if that were were to be the cause of disqualification from eternal life then surely heaven would have no human being there other than Jesus Christ. (I know He is more than just a man but He is also a risen human being). How does Satan tempt us? Does every thought we have originate with us. Are not some thoughts inspired by The Holy Spirit. Are not some thoughts lies from the evil one? Even if you did entertain it. It may be a sin but that is not equal to falling away. Please read all of Hebrews 6:4-12. You should note that two things are necessary for this type of scenario. You must first have been enlightened and tasted the heavenly gift and been made partakers of the Holy Spirit, and have tasted the good word of God and the powers of the age to come and then fallen away. So do you qualify for the first part. I believe you may be in a process of experiencing it but not having fully tasted the good word of God and the powers of the age to come. If you had you would not be so easily moved from the place of confidence in the desire and power of Christ to save you. Heb 12:2 states that Jesus is both the author and the perfecter of our faith. Also Rom 5:10 states "for if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His Life." Did you catch that how much more... shall we BE SAVED BY HIS LIFE. A study of the words "Christ dwell" in the new testament would also be helpful. Please continue to seek God through all of the scriptures. Your fragile state can only be remedied by studying the scriptures and praying for God to enlighten you to the incredible love that Jesus Christ has for you and the solid assurance of salvation that comes from knowing Him. I am sure others will present a list of well known scriptures for the assurance of salvation. The second part of this scenario in Hebrews is referred to as "and then have fallen away". This is a seriouse state. You must have produced some seriouse bad fruit to qualify as having fallen away. I am going to be subjective here. I know someone who experienced a lot of wonderful stuff in Christ. His power, His faithfulness, His Love and many other benefits. This person after walking away from The Lord and the church eventually denied that any of it was real. They denied by their lifestyle and with their words that Jesus Christ is God. That person I believe fulfills this scripture. However, even in that case we must realise that this scripture in Heb 6 does not say what you wrote. It says "it is impossible to renew them again to repentance, since they again crucify to themselves the Son of God and put Him to open shame." At the very least we must realise that the scriptures are written to us not to God but by God. Therefore we can safely say it this way "It is impossible (for you)to renew them again to repentance. Is it impossible for the Holy Spirit? Perhaps. Think on the following also Rev 12:10 The evil one is also referred to as the accuser of the brethren. Luke 19:10 "For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost. Jude vs 24,25 says. " Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to make you stand in the presence of His glory blameless with great joy,to the only God our Savior through Jesus Christ our Lord be glory, majesty dominion and authority, before all time and now and forever. Amen. Your journey has just begun. You will learn how to deal with these lies as you grow in discernment and the knowledge of Gods word. Bless you. Be free. Meta |

4 | Am I going to Hell for attending UMC | Bible general Archive 4 | meta | 234262
Weather or not you go to hell has nothing to do with what church you attend. Romans 8:33-34 New American Standard Bible (NASB) 33 Who will bring a charge against God’s elect? God is the one who justifies; 34 who is the one who condemns? Christ Jesus is He who died, yes, rather who was raised, who is at the right hand of God, who also intercedes for us. Christ died and was raised for you. (more for the Father than for us I believe). If Jesus Christ includes you in His Salvation then it will not be good for your friend to pass a sentence of eternal destruction on someone by making such foolish and careless judgements. You should forgive them and pray for them so that something unpleasant does not befall them. Job 42:7-10 7 It came about after the Lord had spoken these words to Job, that the Lord said to Eliphaz the Temanite, “My wrath is kindled against you and against your two friends, because you have not spoken of Me what is right as My servant Job has. 8 Now therefore, take for yourselves seven bulls and seven rams, and go to My servant Job, and offer up a burnt offering for yourselves, and My servant Job will pray for you. For I will accept him so that I may not do with you according to your folly, because you have not spoken of Me what is right, as My servant Job has.” 9 So Eliphaz the Temanite and Bildad the Shuhite and Zophar the Naamathite went and did as the Lord told them; and the Lord accepted Job. 10 The Lord restored the fortunes of Job when he prayed for his friends, and the Lord increased all that Job had twofold. |

7 | second list of fruit of the spirit | Gal 5:19 | meta | 234257
You are onto something but it is not exactly what you think. The fruit of the Spirit in Gal 5 are not meant to be an exhaustive list and they are not referred to as first fruits. In fact the list is not plural fruits but rather fruit. Apples pears and oranges are fruits. apples are the fruit of the apple tree. The fruit of the Spirit is a term used in Gal 5:22.23 22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. The word fruit here is also translated as “benefit, crop, produce, profit” and some other terms. It is singular fruit not fruits. It could as easily be translated “the result of the Holy Spirit” The key to understanding the Fruit of the Holy Spirit however is found in the last part of verse23 “Against such there is no law.” The author of this book is encouraging the believers in Galatia to look beyond religion. To look far beyond what is required of us to what is possible for us. As we desire, long for, hunger for, and seek The Holy Spirit and the relationship we can have with Him through Jesus Christ, and the relationship we can have with Christ through Him, then this list of fruit is what is produced in us. It is glorious to be filled with the Holy Spirit and be free from what the law or religion requires, to be spurned on with the wind at our backs to produce things that The Holy Spirit is doing that cannot be listed here or in the law. It is not a list. It is a picture of the Holy Spirit in us which is in turn a picture of the character of Christ. All of our efforts in the flesh will never result in us looking like Jesus. You cannot receive or produce these fruits. They are not the fruit of your efforts. They are the fruit of freely receiving the Holy Spirit and giving up on trying to become Holy by what we do or do not do. The list is unending but all of the fruit of the Holy Spirit is pure and holy and will bring glory to God the Father and Jesus Christ. If we read Rom 8: 23 in context we see there is no list. The greek word aparche used here refers to the first portion of something of which there is more to come. There is more of the Holy Spirit than what was given. That may mean more yet to come for us or simply more than we have received. |

The list is unending but all of the fruit of the Holy Spirit is pure and holy and will bring glory to God the Father and Jesus Christ. They are not the same as the Gifts of the Holy Spirit listed in 1 Cor. 12:7-11 7 But to each one is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. 8 For to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, and to another the word of knowledge according to the same Spirit; 9 to another faith by the same Spirit, and to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit, 10 and to another the effecting of miracles, and to another prophecy, and to another the distinguishing of spirits, to another various kinds of tongues, and to another the interpretation of tongues. 11 But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually just as He wills. For now lets focus on verse 7 and verse 11. This gift or manifestation of The Holy Spirit is for the common good. It is not primarily for the one who is being used in this way by The Holy Spirit but for others who will benefit from it. The fruit of The Holy Spirit has to do with our experience and our transformation into the image of Christ. Although it is obvious that love is the power behind these gifts it is not conditional that only people that have grown in Love are used in this way. Another major difference is the affect of the gifts such as miracles and healings. Even Jesus healed people that did not necessarily change in character. Verse 11 note “distributing to each individually just as He wills”. The fruit of the Holy Spirit is available to all who believe and it continues to increase as we seek and Love God. (See 2 Peter 1:5-8) It is not so with the gifts. It is the Holy Spirits choice when and if a person is going to experience these gifts. We may influence that choice but it is not a promise like the fruit is. That being said we are to seek the gifts 1 Cor.14:1 Pursue love, yet desire earnestly spiritual gifts, but especially that you may prophesy 1 Cor 12:31 But earnestly desire the greater gifts. And I show you a still more excellent way. Bless you in your search for The Spirit if Truth and all He has for you Meta |

9 | Proof of receiving the Holy Spirir | Gal 5:22 | meta | 233525
Hello Les Paul, According to the scriptures, speaking in tongues was clearly a sign of baptism in the Holy Spirit. Acts 2:4 2:4 And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit was giving them utterance. But so was prophesying Acts 19:6 6 And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Spirit came on them, and they began speaking with tongues and prophesying. To draw the conclusion that either of these is necessary as a sign of the baptism (or infilling or whatever term a person wants to use) is neither loving or scriptural. It is in fact the traditions of men and has no authority of scripture. Here is the real evidence of the presence of the Holy Spirit in a believers life. 1 Cor. 12:3 3 Therefore I make known to you that no one speaking by the Spirit of God says, “Jesus is accursed”; and no one can say, “Jesus is Lord,” except by the Holy Spirit. (Obviously a person could say those words without meaning them but we need to keep it real) We see the fruit or result of receiving the Holy Spirit is also found here. Galations 5:22 22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. There are more scriptural evidences but this should suffice. Now that being said, it appears in scripture that receiving the Holy Spirit or the Baptism in the Holy Spirit was clearly something that at least some times happened on a separate occasion after salvation. Acts 8:14-17 14 Now when the apostles in Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent them Peter and John, 15 who came down and prayed for them that they might receive the Holy Spirit. 16 For He had not yet fallen upon any of them; they had simply been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. 17 Then they began laying their hands on them, and they were receiving the Holy Spirit. Acts 19: 1-6 It happened that while Apollos was at Corinth, Paul passed through the upper country and came to Ephesus, and found some disciples. 2 He said to them, “Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?” And they said to him, “No, we have not even heard whether there is a Holy Spirit.” 3 And he said, “Into what then were you baptized?” And they said, “Into John’s baptism.” 4 Paul said, “John baptized with the baptism of repentance, telling the people to believe in Him who was coming after him, that is, in Jesus.” 5 When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. 6 And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Spirit came on them, and they began speaking with tongues and prophesying. It appears that there is also some type of filling that happens repeatedly and/or continually. Acts 13:52 And the disciples were continually filled with joy and with the Holy Spirit. The bible also speaks of men being full of the Holy Spirit as a distinctly different thing than just having received the Holy Spirit. Stephen Acts 6:5The statement found approval with the whole congregation; and they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Spirit, and Philip, Prochorus, Nicanor, Timon, Parmenas and Nicolas, a proselyte from Antioch. Barnabas Acts 11:24 24 for he was a good man, and full of the Holy Spirit and of faith. And considerable numbers were brought to the Lord. My question is this. If The Holy Spirit is available to us in any measure beyond what we have now would we not want that? If there is an accompanying gift that would benefit us and The Kingdom of God would we not want that also? It appears there is a gift available through the laying on of hands that can release a spiritual language for our edification. The scriptures state that we are to earnestly seek the gifts of the Holy Spirit 1 Cor 14:1 Pursue love, yet desire earnestly spiritual gifts, but especially that you may prophesy. Well, Les Paul Those are my thoughts and some references. Here is a very important function of the Holy Spirit for you. John 16:13 But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His own initiative, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come. 1 John 2: 20-21 But you have an anointing from the Holy One, and you all know I have not written to you because you do not know the truth, but because you do know it, and because no lie is of the truth. 1 John 2:27 As for you, the anointing which you received from Him abides in you, and you have no need for anyone to teach you; but as His anointing teaches you about all things, and is true and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you abide in Him. I Bless you in your pursuit of truth. Rely on The Spirit of Truth through Jesus Christ and hold what all men say (myself included) lightly. Meta |

10 | Can someone explain God's favor to me? | Bible general Archive 4 | meta | 233495
You have received some helpful and insightfu answers. I would like to clarify a couple of points. First, a calling does imply that it is from God and for a specific purpose. It cannot be limited to what many people believe ministry is. The term to minister means to serve. It does not mean only or specifically in the capacity of pastor, teacher, deacon or any other church affiliated function. That is unless you greatly broaden the use of the term church. God calls people as artists, He also provides a grace for them to function in that role. In this instance Grace can be described as a power working within us lifting us from death (and everything leading to death) into Life (and everything that leads to spiritual Life). It can also mean an ablility from God or even favor that causes divine influence on circumstances to yield to your presence and purpose. He may call somone into nursing or agriculture. Anyone can develop skills but one who is called has the added grace to develop those skills and will therefore stand out and make a difference spiritually as well. In this case He provides grace. The bible mentions a number of kinds of grace. Abundance of grace Rom 5:17, Abundant grace Acts 4:33. The bible speaks of being full of grace John 1:14 and Acts 6:8. It also speaks of grace upon grace John 1:16. It seems there are a number of different things grace can be or do. God did not however give grace to pharoah. The scripture says He hardened pharoa's heart (that is an entire study in itself). He did not give grace to Judas. This goes against basic preschooler theology God good, Devil bad. John 1:15 states that God is light and there is no darkness in Him. James 1:13 states Let no one say when he is tempted, “ I am being tempted by God”; for God cannot be tempted by evil, and He Himself does not tempt anyone. |

I do not believe it is possible to give a scriptural answer. Perhaps it is possible to give a practical answer that is not disqualified by scripture. Sound is absorbed by sand very easily also plants and cloth and even our flesh. That is the environment Jesus was speaking in. Sound is not easily absorbed by water but is reflected off the water. He was simply making it easier for people to hear Him speak. Note Matt 13:1 That day Jesus went out of the house and was sitting by the sea. Matt 13:2 And large crowds gathered to Him, so He got into a boat and sat down, and the whole crowd was standing on the beach. Also Mark 4:1 He began to teach again by the sea. And such a very large crowd gathered to Him that He got into a boat in the sea and sat down; and the whole crowd was by the sea on the land. It also appears that in Mark 3:9 "And He told His disciples that a boat should stand ready for Him because of the crowd, so that they would not crowd Him" it was to be able to adress the people without being crowded. Who knows what kind of pushing and grabbing might take place. He was often being pushed by crowds. Mark 5:24 And He went off with him; and a large crowd was following Him and pressing in on Him. |

Boats, It is obvious that this is possible due to the fact that Noah himself built a very large and extremely effective boat. A study of Gen 6:13 to 8:14 will show that Noah built a boat that was floating on the water for over one year. In addition reed boats are mentioned in the book of Job. Job is believed to be a contemporary of Abraham. There have also been people in the twentieth century who have built a reed boat like ones used in ancient Egypt. They sailed to South America successfully. This was in fact to verify their theory that the people of South America originated in Egypt. Also When God sent confusion to the people that resulted in the many languages it was in response to their technology and the twisted purpose of trying to build a tower to heaven. Gen. 11:6. This was much later than Noah so boat building would be very simple for them. The LORD said, "Behold, they are one people, and they all have the same language. And this is what they began to do, and now nothing which they purpose to do will be impossible for them. Man did eventually set foot on the moon. The bootom line is that before all of this Noah had already built a boat that could sail the world |

14 | How do I tell if she is Christian? | John 1:17 | meta | 221372
Hi Keliy, First, There are ways to minister to her to see her blossom however the first thing you must do is to step back from the process and allow the Holy Spirit do do His work. God can and will transform her into the image of Christ if she has truly received Christ. Church and bible study are true benefits in our lives and are part of a healthy relationship with Christ however they cannot be pushed onto someone and they can become much more attractive to her but not by pushing. That will result in her rejecting both as they become more and more distasteful. They are a reminder that she is seen as not good enough to please someone. First you and then sadly God as well. Jesus Christ knows how to get to everyone's heart and He gives us clues also. For now unconditional love and acceptance (like He has for you) is the thing that will allow her to grow. Certainly Christ is doing things below the surface that you cannot see. If your focus could become what God is doing and what He is pleased with instead of what he is not doing, it would go a long way towards her freedom in Christ. It will take the Lord to reveal some of these to you. Don't get me wrong. This is not easy. I am not implying that you are harsh or unloving or judgemental. In fact it is obvious that you are in fact compassionate and caring. This a common ploy of the enemy and thank God He gives us strategy to defeat him. Second, Prayer is a powerful weapon in these matters. Again it relys the Holy Spirit to do things we cannot do. The first part of prayer being thanks giving. Thanks giving for everything that is good in her will go a long way to opening your eyes to what God is up to. If you look and act like Christ and if you carry the fragrance of His presence it will allow her to not fight back against what she perceives as not being accepted as she is. You can also bless her spirit with the prayer of Eph 3:14-21 For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name, that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with power through His Spirit in the inner man, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; and that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled up to all the fullness of God. Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us,to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations forever and ever. Amen. I have much more that I would like to share and questions for you as well however I do not think the forum is the place for it as it is for study of the scriptures, not counseling. I am not clear how things work If it is appropriate to exchange email addresses perhaps someone can help us with that if you are interested. 15 | How could Satan sin? | Ephesians | meta | 221285
Hello Dhudspeth15 Does the bible say there is no sin in heaven. What scripture? Does the bible say there never was sin in heaven? scripture? Note these are questions, not statements in the form of a question. Does it say there will be no sin in heaven? That I do believe there is a scripture for in that sin and death will be destroyed. Satan was not alone in his rebellion. He was seemingly the first to rebel. I am not aware of a scripture that states that none of the angels that are God's in heaven right now could not fall. Nothing says they will, I do not believe that will ever happen but we are looking for scriptural evidence and not just what we believe. One thing is for certain, as soon as sin was found in heaven it was condemned and banished. It was in fact Lucifer that sinned and became satan. The same creature but changed from beautiful to horrid as a result of the sin. very interesting topic Meta |

16 | Pierced Jesus side | Bible general Archive 4 | meta | 221263
The sabbath was approaching and the soldiers came to break the legs of the men that were crucified. This was to prevent them from pushing up with their feet so they could breathe. They would then suffocate. Hanging from their arms with no way to relieve the pressure of their body weight collapsing the lungs. Jesus gave up His Spirit and died before the time to break the legs. The soldier pierced Jesus' side in order to prove that he was in fact already dead not to kill Him. John 19:30 Therefore when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, "It is finished!" And He bowed His head and gave up His spirit. John 19:31 Then the Jews, because it was the day of preparation, so that the bodies would not remain on the cross on the Sabbath (for that Sabbath was a high day), asked Pilate that their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken away. John 19:32 So the soldiers came, and broke the legs of the first man and of the other who was crucified with Him; John 19:33 but coming to Jesus, when they saw that He was already dead, they did not break His legs. John 19:34 But one of the soldiers pierced His side with a spear, and immediately blood and water came out. John 19:35 And he who has seen has testified, and his testimony is true; and he knows that he is telling the truth, so that you also may believe. John 19:36 For these things came to pass to fulfill the Scripture, "NOT A BONE OF HIM SHALL BE BROKEN." John 19:37 And again another Scripture says, "THEY SHALL LOOK ON HIM WHOM THEY PIERCED." |

17 | Jewish law during the millenium | Bible general Archive 4 | meta | 221262
Please help me out here. What scripture causes you to think that there is a return to "the law" (ie as a practice of animal sacrafices etc.)during a period referred to as the millenium? The millenium by the way is not a biblical term. I am not challenging you. I just would like to understand. Thanks Meta |

19 | Distinctly devil work destroying | 1 John 3:8 | meta | 221255
Yes Chris, as Doc mentioned, the scriptures you quote do not adress the same subject at all. It is an understandable leap but what is most revealed is a great misunderstanding that exists about our relationship with God. First: 1 John 3:8 is in reference to Jesus Christ. It is true that as a Christian you have become a son of God, however this verse refers to "THE" Son of God, and it is in the past tense. It is a historic fact that Jesus Christ (the son of God) was manifested to destroy the works of the devil." You are not Him. You are in Him and He is in you, but you are not Him. Secondly here is the context of your quote "I never knew you." Matt 7:21-25 and more specifically vs 23 "And then I will declare to them, 'I never knew you; DEPART FROM ME, YOU WHO PRACTICE LAWLESSNESS.' Please note it is "the practice of Lawlessness" that disqualifies these pharisees that He is adressing. This is not in reference to traditional jewish law for he says in Matt 23:23 "Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you tithe mint and dill and cummin, and have neglected the weightier provisions of the law: justice and mercy and faithfulness; but these are the things you should have done without neglecting the others. and again in Luke 11:42 "But woe to you Pharisees! For you pay tithe of mint and rue and every kind of garden herb, and yet disregard justice and the love of God; but these are the things you should have done without neglecting the others. Notice how Jesus refers to "the weightier provisions of the law: JUSTICE and MERCY and FAITHFULNESS" and in Luke he refers to "THE LOVE OF GOD." So the law here is not by wrote but by knowing. John 5:39-40 "You search the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; it is these that testify about Me; and you are unwilling to come to Me so that you may have life." These men had the scriptures but it did not help them respond to Christ. The moral law is an expression of His love, It is manifest in this world through you. It is the capacity to receive His love that hinders or allows the expression of that love through us to others. If Jesus says to someone Depart from me I Know you not then it is only logical to fix the "I know you not". You do not fix the "I know you not" by looking at the enemy of the one you want to know. Look to Him. It is not guilt that will help you. It is Love and Mercy. The more you love Him the more He will continue to destroy the works of the Devil and you will be participating with Him in that but it will not be out of fear hearing "Depart from me" He loves you if you never lift a finger to help Him. When you fully realise that you will become a mighty destroyer of the works of the devil. He is the author and perfecter of faith (Heb 12:2) Your faith should be in His ability to keep you not your ability to please Him. Trust Him, He already died for vou. He is already raised from the dead. He can handle the devil. Confess your weaknesses , be honest with Him about your fears but know that it is His love for you that will enable you to grow and triumph in Him. |

20 | god says test me | Mal 3:10 | meta | 210272
Hi Jason, the verse you are looking for is Malachi 3:10 "Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, so that there may be food in My house, and test Me now in this," says the LORD of hosts, "if I will not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you a blessing until it overflows. The Lord is Challenging us to put Him to the test to prove to us that He means what He says. He so wants relationship and for Israel(us) to know Him intimately and understand His heart and His intentions. He does this for our sake He loves us and He wants to be loved by us but again it is so that we might experience all that He has for us and it is not out of an unmet need for there are no unmet needs within Him. He does not want us to test Him in other ways. The difference is this. In Malachi. He is saying I am willing to prove to you that my word is true when you are moving toward God in faith. That is what He wants them to do move toward me in faith and see the results. In other ways that people tested God it was not such a good thing. Willful disobedience and rebellion tests God but the out come for us is not good. Those types of tests are moving away from God in disbelief or unbelief. Ex 17:7 He named the place Massah and Meribah because of the quarrel of the sons of Israel, and because they tested the LORD, saying, "Is the LORD among us, or not?". Deut 6:16 "You shall not put the LORD your God to the test, as you tested Him at Massah. There are times that challenging God is acceptable. Moses told the Lord "no" when He was going to wipe out Israel and start over. Also Abraham interceded with God for Sodom afeter The Lord revealed His plans to him.Gen 18:18 since Abraham will surely become a great and mighty nation, and in him all the nations of the earth will be blessed? Verse Info. Notes Gen 18:19 "For I have chosen him, so that he may command his children and his household after him to keep the way of the LORD by doing righteousness and justice, so that the LORD may bring upon Abraham what He has spoken about him." Verse Info. Notes Gen 18:20 And the LORD said, "The outcry of Sodom and Gomorrah is indeed great, and their sin is exceedingly grave. Verse Info. Notes Gen 18:21 "I will go down now, and see if they have done entirely according to its outcry, which has come to Me; and if not, I will know." Verse Info. Notes Gen 18:22 Then the men turned away from there and went toward Sodom, while Abraham was still standing before the LORD. Verse Info. Notes Gen 18:23 Abraham came near and said, "Will You indeed sweep away the righteous with the wicked? Verse Info. Notes Gen 18:24 "Suppose there are fifty righteous within the city; will You indeed sweep it away and not spare the place for the sake of the fifty righteous who are in it? Verse Info. Notes Gen 18:25 "Far be it from You to do such a thing, to slay the righteous with the wicked, so that the righteous and the wicked are treated alike. Far be it from You! Shall not the Judge of all the earth deal justly?" Verse Info. Notes Gen 18:26 So the LORD said, "If I find in Sodom fifty righteous within the city, then I will spare the whole place on their account." Verse Info. Notes Gen 18:27 And Abraham replied, "Now behold, I have ventured to speak to the Lord, although I am but dust and ashes. Verse Info. Notes Gen 18:28 "Suppose the fifty righteous are lacking five, will You destroy the whole city because of five?" And He said, "I will not destroy it if I find forty-five there." Verse Info. Notes Gen 18:29 He spoke to Him yet again and said, "Suppose forty are found there?" And He said, "I will not do it on account of the forty." Verse Info. Notes Gen 18:30 Then he said, "Oh may the Lord not be angry, and I shall speak; suppose thirty are found there?" And He said, "I will not do it if I find thirty there." Verse Info. Notes Gen 18:31 And he said, "Now behold, I have ventured to speak to the Lord; suppose twenty are found there?" And He said, "I will not destroy it on account of the twenty." Verse Info. Notes Gen 18:32 Then he said, "Oh may the Lord not be angry, and I shall speak only this once; suppose ten are found there?" And He said, "I will not destroy it on account of the ten." Verse Info. Notes Gen 18:33 As soon as He had finished speaking to Abraham the LORD departed, and Abraham returned to his place. |
