1 | disciplerami, a disciple before baptism? | Acts 2:38 | matt2122 | 77443
The definition of disciple is a good call on your part. Disciple, is a student who learns and follows the teachings of another. Maybe what we should be considering is if we are truly talking about making someone a student of Christ's teaching and His word, which would encourage baptism, or IF we are talking about Salvation which doesn't require baptism (or discipleship) for eternal life. There are many who call upon the name of the Lord and they shall be saved. I don't know that their 'ruling and reigning' with Him will have as much depth as someone who is skilled in the knowledge of His word and demonstrating accountability in biblical leadership, but the gift of eternal life is a treasure for all who call upon Him with a sincere faith in their heart.

3 | Is this about water baptism at all? | Acts 2:38 | matt2122 | 77426
You're right Ray..I don't see it defined as 'water', however, I do not know if in the context of their orientation 'baptism' would presume 'water'. Do you think the verse is referring to another baptism, like in the Holy Spirit? I know I've heard alot of different takes on this over the years. Pentacostal faith believes the baptism of the Spirit of God is a separate occasion from water baptism. I, personally, do not see enough scriptural evidence to make a hard case in that direction. Good question! |
