2 | Please HelpUnderstanding Sola Scriptura? | Gen 1:1 | lookinforacity | 205818
Hi Tamara: YOU GOT MAIL Sola scriptura ("Bible alone") The [first] objective [or formal] principle proclaims the canonical Scriptures, especially the New Testament, to be the only infallible source and rule of faith and practice, and asserts the right of private interpretation of the same, in distinction from the Roman Catholic view, which declares the Bible and tradition to be co-ordinate sources and rule of faith, and makes tradition, especially the decrees of popes and councils, the only legitimate and infallible interpreter of the Bible. In its extreme form Chillingworth expressed this principle of the Reformation in the well-known formula, "The Bible, the whole Bible, and nothing but the Bible, is the religion of Protestants." Protestantism, however, by no means despises or rejects church authority as such, but only subordinates it to, and measures its value by, the Bible, and believes in a progressive interpretation of the Bible through the expanding and deepening consciousness of Christendom. Hence, besides having its own symbols or standards of public doctrine, it retained all the articles of the ancient creeds and a large amount of disciplinary and ritual tradition, and rejected only those doctrines and ceremonies for which no clear warrant was found in the Bible and which seemed to contradict its letter or spirit. The Calvinistic branches of Protestantism went farther in their antagonism to the received traditions than the Lutheran and the Anglican; but all united in rejecting the authority of the pope. [Melanchthon for a while was willing to concede this, but only jure humano, or a limited disciplinary superintendency of the Church], the meritoriousness of good works, indulgences, the worship of the Virgin, saints, and relics, the sacraments (other than baptism and the Eucharist), the dogma of transubstantiation and the Sacrifice of the Mass, purgatory, and prayers for the dead, auricular confession, celibacy of the clergy, the monastic system, and the use of the Latin tongue in public worship, for which the vernacular languages were substituted. HOPE THIS HELPS IN HIM Jim |

3 | homosexual brain wired that way at birth | 1 Cor 6:9 | lookinforacity | 205809
Hi Believer53: There is no,(NO) Homosexual GENE, science will never be able to prove anything. Homosexuality, is most definitely wrong, GOD, has the only valid opinion. God did know us in the womb. I believe, the growth of Homosexuality in our society, the acceptance of it by our society, is all in direct proportion to the Immorality of our society. I believe we as a society, are now, and have been for years, Sacrificing our Children to Molech, Our society, follows Darwin, and the Theory of Evolution, which is in direct opposition to God, and Creation. Society wants to believe a lie, so God is giving them strong delusion, because of their immoral, and abominable behavior. We are an Idolatrous Nation, Rom. 1:18 through 31 This verse sums up all that I have said, verse 32) Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them. To me the answer is a simple one, God has Cursed our Society, Nation Responsibility of that curse falls on us, because individual Religions, Denominations, Faiths, Churches, have fought this EVIL. But WE as the BODY of CHRIST, have not stood up, in the UNITY of His SPIRIT and fullness of HIS POWER, with JESUS being the head! When we put down our petty differences, coming together as HIS Church then, and only then, will the POWER of Satan be broken, thus releasing us from this CURSE. IN CHRIST Jim |

Hi believer53: Some people have the belief, Homosexuality is the most heinous sin a person can commit, because of the word abomination connected with it. Strange because when we read, verse 23 says Mammilla, is only confusion. Seems to me they are coequal, well if we look at the whole chapter, verse 6 through 23 everything mentioned is abomination. Verses 24 through 30 tell us WHY, because in so doing the LAND is DEFILED. We as Christians, need to start calling, the acts mentioned here for what they truly are. ALL OF THE CUSTOMES MENTIONED IN THIS CHAPTER, FALL UNDER THE HEADING OF IDOLITRY. Last but by no means least, look at the very last sentence in the chapter. "I AM THE LORD YOUR GOD" God telling them again, you shall have no other gods before ME. GOD BLESS Jim |

Hi du plessis: Hard to answer the question. But the easiest for me to believe is, when the Earth was divided, when the speech was confounded, because of the building at Babylon, the features of the different races, also appeared at that time. Works for me. I don't go with all of that cursing stuff. I feel in this case, the term K.I.S.S. would apply very well. (For all of us) Have a good one IN HIM Jim |

7 | Evidenc of Signs in 2008 Valid? | Mark 16:17 | lookinforacity | 205713
Hi Tamara: Mark 16:17,18 17) And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; 18) They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. Are we to take this verse in Mark literally? The question I ask is, If not for today, then why after the 4 Gospels were written, was it still taught? If these were the words of Jesus to the Disciples only, for the BUILDING of the Church, then why write letters to other Churches, (1 Cor.12) teaching them on the proper use of these gifts. Why the in depth explanation, GOD knew this book was going to come down to us, was it so we could argue pro, and con. for 2 millennia. I don't think so. As far as them ending, Jesus said "Them that Believe" aren't we believers? Jesus did not say, there will be an end of these gifts. Anything other than the Cold Hard Fact, of (A)meaning(1) Scripture that explicitly states they were to end, after the Disciples died, then any belief in that direction is pure conjecturer, ( Aren't we Disciples Also) Continued End of 1 of 2 |

9 | Just needing a little more insight | Col 2:18 | lookinforacity | 205280
Hi Sandy: Your question, on Col. 2:18 has nothing at all to do with the worshiping of angels. The only connection that I can make to the angel part is, someone might say, I have seen an angel and this is what he said. Example (Joseph Smith) (Mormon Religion). The rest of the Chapter tells you WHAT WAS SAID, in verse 18. Verse 8 says the same thing, as the others, that's why I added it. I cannot say it any better than Paul wrote. 18) Let no man beguile you of your reward in a voluntary humility and worshipping of angels, intruding into those things which he hath not seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind, 8) Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ. 20) Wherefore if ye be dead with Christ from the rudiments of the world, why, as though living in the world, are ye subject to ordinances, 21) (Touch not; taste not; handle not; 22) Which all are to perish with the using;) after the commandments and doctrines of men? 23) Which things have indeed a shew of wisdom in will worship, and humility, and neglecting of the body: not in any honour to the satisfying of the flesh. I hope these will answer, your question, now that you understand them, in context. Now go back and read the whole chapter, and see if it all makes sense. GOD BLESS Jim |

10 | what approach did paul take | Acts 17:18 | lookinforacity | 205276
Hi Beanna: You go right ahead and ask your question as many times as you want. WE ALL understand that you only came to the FORUM today. Now on to your question. the way you asked it, I can only say. Paul took the approach you have posted in Verses 18-34 He apparently doesnt use any other approach, because it isnt recorded. There was a Church established in ATHENS, so I assume his efforts were successful. That is the only way I can answer your question. Hope it is enough. GOD BLESS Jim |

11 | If a person hurts you and ask forgivenes | Bible general Archive 4 | lookinforacity | 205271
Hi Katielee: 44) But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; At this point is he telling us, to keep putting ourselves into the position, to be Despitefully used again? Does he require that of us? If we stay in a relationship where a person, keeps slapping our face, THEN we are obligated to forgive. If you have forgiven, and I have to believe you have, then Matt. 18 doesn't apply. Romans 12:17-21 May clear it up for you. 17) Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men. 18) If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men. 19) Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord. 20)Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head. 21) Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good. 12 | Need Clarification on Asking/Receiving | James 1:6 | lookinforacity | 205268
Hi Student: Hope this clears things up for you. As you can see, in this case, the question of receiving from the Lord, ONLY refers to ONE thing. That is (WISDOM.) These Verses, are specific unto the context, used in these verses. You cannot apply them to any other verse, where we are told how to pray for things, in our lives. ie. healing, jobs, money etc. James 1:5 5) If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. The Verses 3 - 9, in PROV. all refer to the verses you are asking about. Ask in faith, not doubting. Do not be like the waves. We should not doubt, what he has told us to ask for, HE has laid it up for US. He HAS told us to ask, Do Not DOUBT God at His WORD. He will perform, that which he has promised. Prov. 2:1-12 1) My son, if thou wilt receive my words, and hide my commandments with thee; 2) So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, and apply thine heart to understanding; *3) Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding; *4) If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures; *5) Then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God. *6) For the LORD giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding. *7) He layeth up sound wisdom for the righteous: he is a buckler to them that walk uprightly. *8) He keepeth the paths of judgment, and preserveth the way of his saints. *9) Then shalt thou understand righteousness, and judgment, and equity; yea, every good path. 10) When wisdom entereth into thine heart, and knowledge is pleasant unto thy soul; 11) Discretion shall preserve thee, understanding shall keep thee: 12) To deliver thee from the way of the evil man, from the man that speaketh froward things; The only problem that I saw, was that you were applying these verses, to the other verses, on praying, and receiving from the Lord. At that point they are confusing. Just remember, when you do not understand what your reading, go back, as many times as it takes, like it says in Prov. 2 :3,4 asking for guidance, all you were missing, in order for you to be able to understand was, verse (5) having that NOW, does it make sense to you? GOD BLESS Jim |

14 | An interesting discussion/question | Romans | lookinforacity | 204934
HI CHILDOFGOD: I think this might be the one your looking for. Romans 2:14 For when the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves: The verse above covers anyone that is in the position of not having ever, or will never hear the word of FAITH. Tribes in the Jungles of the Amazon, and the like. They may be Pagans to us, but God will judge their heart. Now to go on to the area of, the unborn, babies, children. this following information isn't in the Bible it's in LAW . COVENANT A covenant, in its most general signification, means any kind of promise or contract, a covenant is an agreement between two or more persons, entered into in writing and under seal, whereby either party stipulates for the truth of certain facts, or promises to perform or give something to the other, or to abstain from the performance of certain things. - 1st. The parties must be such as by law can enter into a contract. If either for want of understanding, as in the case of an idiot or lunatic; or in the case of an infant, in every case, the parties are not competent, they cannot bind themselves. - 2d. There must be an agreement. The assent or consent must be mutual for the agreement would be incomplete if either party withheld his assent to any of its terms. The assent of the parties to a contract necessarily supposes a free, fair, serious exercise of the reasoning faculty. We have the OLD Covenant, and the NEW Covenant, but God doesn't hold babies, and children any more responsible than MAN does. To make it short, as you can see, even in MANS LAW, we don't hold some of our citizens responsible. Hope this answers both sides of the question. In Christ JIM |

15 | Help! Unclean vs clean meat? | Acts | lookinforacity | 204930
HI LRP: Here are 2 more cents for the kitty. You have gotten good sound advice so far, go with it ! This is from a different view point, but they go with what you already have, specifically the words of Jesus. "Everything is Clean." We as human beings, and especially Mothers in law, try sometimes to get closer to GOD by going back, to what we have been set free from, THE LAW. It seems, that we can become more Religious, if we do. WE do but not in a good sence. 1) My wife and I want to follow the laws of GOD, but we are confused. You are under Grace not the Law. 2) Can anyone that has come down this road help us out? Eat anything you want, everything is of GOD and fit for food. 3) I have all the scriptures, but really need guidance. Just show her the Scriptures that refute her argument, then let it go, don't argue the point, she wont keep it up for long, the LAW was given in the first place, to show us that WE cant keep it. She wont either, it would mean a change in her lifestyle. People do it for a short time then revert back to what they know. 4) I will ultimately make the decision for my family but need some help understanding this all. Your doing fine, don't go in the direction of the LAW, it will bind you up. Keep your family free, and in the Grace of GOD. Galatians 2:21 I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain. Galatians 5:4 Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace. GOD BLESS JIM |

18 | Need good book series...entire bible... | Gen 1:1 | lookinforacity | 204854
Hi Egosophist You couldn't get a better Christian, biblical based direction, than the Bible itself. God inspired, faith based believers to write it for us, to be interpreted for us by the Holy Spirit. It is not another book of Philosophy, it isn't like any other book, in the entire world, it is a book from the Creator of the Universe, to us individually, if you open your heart, "God will talk to you personally". Just like when He talked to Adam, in the Garden. But if all you want, is a bunch of head knowledge, from other people's viewpoint then by all means, get a lot of books. There are literally tons of them out there. If that's your goal, then this one should do the trick. JESUS REDISCOVERED By MALCOLM MUGGERIDGE Have yourself a good year or so. JIM |

20 | Retain or forgive sins? | John 20:22 | lookinforacity | 204654
Hi Tamara: In light of these scriptures, how are they to be interpreted? In relation to your question. These are just food for thought. We cannot dismiss them, as never having been said. Matthew 6:12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. Luke 11:4 And forgive us our sins; for we also forgive every one that is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil. James 5:15 And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him. Matthew 18:21 Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times? Matthew 18:22 Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven. Luke 17:4 And if he trespass against thee seven times in a day, and seven times in a day turn again to thee, saying, I repent; thou shalt forgive him. Mark 11:25 And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive him, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins." Luke 17:3 So watch yourselves. "If your brother sins, rebuke him, and if he repents, forgive him. Acts 10:43 All the prophets testify about him that everyone who believes in him receives forgiveness of sins through his name." 2 Corinthians 2:10 If you forgive anyone, I also forgive him. And what I have forgiven—if there was anything to forgive—I have forgiven in the sight of Christ for your sake, Love in Christ Jim |
