I FOR ONE HATE AMZON. Amazon is the worlds largest distributor of porn in the world. I have deal friends who had a Christian book store, People would order books and material from Amazon rather than support a Christian book store. There comes a time when we as Christians say we will not support a company which does things contrary to solid Christian values. For instance, TARGET is being boycotted because of the men who wanting to be a woman, but not yet being transgendered wanting to use the woman's restroom. We need to support that. I honestly believe Christians need to say to AMAZON if you sell porn we will not buy from you. That's my view point, I will not support Amazon smile. Acts 3:19 |

3 | Am I Biblically free to marry? | Bible general | justme | 243755
Three wise men have given you advice based on the Bible. It really hurts to read how you have lived your life. I can not encourage you enough to seek a Godly Christian counselor. You have lived your life for the flesh and now you are reaping those difficult weeds you planted. I am sure this hurts, but given what you have said I don't think Biblically you should consider marriage. However I have the feeling you may not except the advice and opinions offered here. If you search long enough someone will tell you its ok to remarry. I can only hope you find a genuine Bible believing gifted counselor that can take the time to go over your several marriages and help you see where your responsibility is in their failure. God does hold the man more responsible for being the head of his house. I am being blunt, and I hope you will search your heart and ask God to help you walk the rest of your life with Him and Him alone. Blessings. justme |

A hearty welcome to the SBF maureenash. The Bible says as Christians we are to be honest and IMO upfront with our integrity in all we do. Matthew 5:16 we are to do good works. I being an older guy who got my BA and two Masters degrees did most all of it with only a typewriter and a dictionary. The last year of my last Master Degree I got a "computer of sorts" DOS operated and Word Perfect 3. No Grammar checker or spelling checker. My work was mine. Believe me when I said term papers took all the semester. I am not sure if you are advertising a service, but this is not acceptable here, as it is a Study Bible Forum. Thanks for your understanding. justme |

RWC. I checked a commentary and it suggested that Paul felt a "spiritual oneness" with them. Paul is saying "solid front" "orderly" "firm" are indicated in Paul's affection with them. I could find no meaning to indicate anything else. You have brought a good question that got me to do some more research which I really like to do. Blessings. justme |

WamYAH, Welcome to the Study Bible Forum. Sorry for the rather unfriendly response to you from EdB. However I too had never heard of a Cepher Bible. I did some research and your answer can be found by their web site at www.cepher.net I looked the site over and it looks very interesting. I wonder if it is a Jewish book store. I would welcome any thing you find out. I hope this gets to you as the study Bible Forums sending out emails seems to be out of order. Blessings and I hope you will come back. Justme |

8 | Help me understand the bible | Genesis | justme | 242915
Adien; I want to deal with two areas. You have read the Bible three times correct? Secondly can you love God without loving Gods WORD. Both to me seem like you are missing a huge issue. God sets the rules and His condition's, we don't. We either accept His terms or we face Him with our choice to be again Him and retest Him as Creator and one who loves us or we don't. An ant has no control of if I will step on it or let it live. All the running or stinging me won't change my mind. We are similar to the ant are we not? God has given us a history of how people in the past treated each other, and how they disobeyed God. There are consequences for disobeying, that is in all of life be it our parents as a child or when we don't obey the laws of the road. God has instilled these laws from the beginning of creation. Adam and Eve disobeyed. Cane killed Able and so it goes. The main issue through all of man kind is SIN. God does all within His power to get man to live for their and our betterment. But we and they have free will, to do as we wish. Wean chose to follow God or to do things our way. Clearly If people lived by the Ten Commandments then there never would have been the killing and the dreadful punishment God brought on those who rejected His laws. Rather than see more babies and children turn out to be anti God people He instructed those tribes to kill those enemies. God does indeed bring calamities to happen upon people and Nations that reject Him and His ways and laws. The United States has rejected the Laws He has given us and now we too are going to see punishment in the form of natural disaster's or other serious things. We can not say killing babies is good and same sex marriage is good and in reality tell God we will do it our way. We can expect calamity every year from now on. But sin has been the issue and will always be. However God has a solution for our sin problem. In your reading the Bible three times have you made the connection between Jesus Christ and Sin? Jesus Christ has paid the price for your and my sins. But no one has to accept Jesus payment for their sins. A person who refuses to Follows Gods plan for their forgiveness of their sins faces God on their own. He will judge us on the Ten Commandments. No one has kept every single one except Jesus Christ. That is because He was a Perfect human God man. Jesus death on the cross was the final blood sacrifice for our sine. As proof that Jesus was God he rose from the Grave ad our Lord and savior. John 3:16 clearly states that God does Love us and will forgive us. But id someone feels God is unfair or they just don't like His Laws and the rules he has set then that's your choice. But who ever makes that personal choice will suffer the punishment for that choice, that is hell in torment for ever everlasting punishment. However if a person has accepted Jesus offer for forgiveness of sins and become a follower of jesus Christ that reward is heaven for ever, everlasting with the Holy Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. I have no clue why anyone would reject Jesus Christ. I have no idea why you do not love the record of how man kind has so turned against a God who only wants the very best for us. I hope this gives you some better insight, and can more fully appreciate the WORD. Justme |

Welcome to the Study Bible Forum shirsly. This is a difficult passage to explain. In order to give you the best Biblical answer I need to know if you have a study Bible of any kind? I think not or you might not of asked this question. The very simple answer is that there are more than three views on this passage beginning with verse 4 to 6. It all depends on how a person understands scripture. The three major views are; Premillennialists, Amillennialists, Postmillennialists. Each of these views interprets these verses differently. There just is not enough time or space to go into detail on each of these three views. There are many books written on each view. So I am not putting you off, so please don't think I am avoiding your question. However to give you a very basic summary I found this in my LIFE APPLICATION BIBLE. "Christ will return defeat Satan, and reign forever! Whatever the Milllenium is, Jesus Christ will unite all believers; therefore, we should not let this issue divide us." There has been great debates over this passage, and sadly it has divided Christians and even caused church splits. This disturbs me as Christ has said that the way we show love to one another is the way the world judges us as followers od Christ. (my paraphrase) I hope this brief explanation stirs you to go deeper in your study of the LORDs WORD. May God bless you. justme |

11 | Translation of "apeitheo" in the NASB | Rom 11:30 | justme | 242677
Bill, Welcome to the Study Bible Forum. To be very sure the answer to your question is correct you can call the Lockman Foundation and ask to speak to Pike. The phone number is 714 879 3055. Pike will find and answer for However in Acts 14:2 in the NASB the word used is "disbelieved" with a side note saying "disobeyed". In my THE INTERLINEAR BIBLE Greek English the word is translated "disobeying". I am not a greek student and therefore I can not give anything more than what I have looked up. I hope this helps in some way. Please let me know what you find out. justme |

Luke, Welcome to the Study Bible Forum. I personally have a number of Study Bibles. My wife and I used to give the NASB and the NIV life Application Study Bible as gifts to our four adult children and our grandchildren when they reached a age level of understanding. But we began to read more of the study notes. We found that the note in Genesis 1:1f made us change our minds. The note gives credence to creation taking " how did God create the earth? This is still a subject of great debate. Some sat there was a sudden explosion, and the universe appeared. Others say God started the process, and the universe evolved over billions of years." and "We will never know all the answers to how God created the earth, but the Bible tells us God did it." For us this ended our recommending the Life Application Bible. If these notes give doubt to what the Bible says that is going beyond what we can tolerate. The NIV in its newest version is a mixture of the 2004 TNIV which was gender neutral. The better 1984 NIV in the "STUDY BIBLE" is good and is available in the NIV and NASB. After years of reading study Bibles I do have a favorite. THE HOLMAN CHRISTIAN STANDARD BIBLE has conservative study notes and uses "Yahweh" for LORD as it should be translated which is unique for all but the Roman Catholic Bibles. I find the HCSB reads very close to most commonly used translations used by pastors in their preaching. Some like the English Standard Bible, and New American Standard Bible for being more literal. The NASB is a bit wordy and the ESV says "The Holy Bible, English Standard Version (ESV) is adapted from the Revised Standard Version of the Bible, copyright division of the Christian Education of the National Council of the Churches of Christ in the U.S.A. All rights reserved." I believe the RSV is a liberal Bible and the National Council of Churches is want nothing whatsoever to do with. So I prefer to only use my ESV in comparing verses, not a personal Bible. There are those who will disagree with my opinion of the ESV. Please take into consideration that Bibles are made on several reading grade levels. The New American Standard Bible at 11th grade level and the NIV at between 7th to 8th grade reading level. The HCSB is about 8th grade level. Just as an example most news papers are at 6th grade level. Also different Study Bible have different agendas A good place to look for deeper understanding is LIFEWAY books and Christian Book Distributers that give good descriptions on these different Bibles. But nothing beats going to a Christian Book store and looking for your self. I would hope the sales person might be knowledgeable about these bibles. I suggest getting the best binding and cover you can afford. I try to buy l genuine leather as they stand up better over time. Avoid bonded leather as it does come apart more easily. Some of the newer simulated leather or leather look covers are holding up well. I hope this helps in your selection. justme |

13 | SEARCHING FOR THE TRUTH | NT general | justme | 242654
FytRobert, Hi brother, Scripture does not say what the church is to do in either case. However as a matter of courtesy the Pastor for one sure better go visit with the family of the loved one who passed. Generally they assist the family in any area he is welcomed to help in, be that being at the visitation, preaching the funeral and graveside services. Generally the church has a dinner after the services at the church and takes meal to the family for a couple of meals. Follow up is strictly depending on the Pastor. When a non-member dies that all depends upon the family of the loved one and their wishes. If the Pastor does the services most always he is given a sum for his services. If he feels circumstances warrant not accepting anything for his services that is his choice. Often the funeral home includes something for his services included in the cost of the funeral service. As for the church it is totally at the pastors suggestion to who ever is in charge of things like this. Above all else this is a time when people are more open to hear the Gospel as usually they may not be. Perhaps many pastor's feel this is a real opportunity for showing the love of Christ. In my personal experience, there were times when children were involved in a tragedy that resulted in their passing. A few were SIDS and one an accident. These are the most difficult to do. There is complete assurance that these little ones are in the LORDs presents and that's so beautiful. But the parents and other relative's are heart broken, special ministering is needed then often for sometime later. Parents often blame each other for the death of a child. It is not uncommon for a divorce to happen when a child dies. A wise minister knows this and takes caution to work with a couple in counseling the couple to help them to prevent blaming and give then support. No Pastor can be held accountable for how a couple copes with such loss and a couples reaction. However if a pastor is ill equipped and does little to minister then he is seriously accountable for being so inept. Being group called to be a church has a responsibility to the community, as well as does the pastor, because they are Jesus Christ to the community wher the LORD has planted them to minister the GOSPEL. Amen. justme |

16 | Grace vs Works? | James 1:22 | justme | 242537
Welcome to The Study Bible Forum Rikbrooks. When we take the Word seriously it stirs the soul, and pricks our heart, and opens our minds. I believe that is the renewing our mind Paul refers to. In recent decades often alter calls were made and people were moved to come in mass and say a "sinners prayer". All too often nothing else was given except the assurance that a person was "saved". Sadly with the assurance that that they were saved that settled it for that person once and for all, and they returned to the lifestyle they had always been living. Those folks were led astray, and some even died in their sins and did not enter the Lords prepared place for genuine followers of Christ Jesus. This has been a travesty that even continues today. In Matthew 11:20 Jesus went into town doing miracles and preached to the people. However they did not become "followers" and they did not "repent". They did not turn in a new direction and reject their sins which required then to change. Without repentance and becoming a true follower of Jesus Christ there is no salvation. In Matthew 7:21-23 Jesus clearly said there those who will do many things in His name and yet they are not genuine born again followers of His. Furthermore Jesus said just because some call Jesus "Lord Lord" they will not enter His Kingdom. Those who do and say things about Jesus don't mean they are genuine born again repented flowerers of His. One only has to watch TV and see completely anti Biblical teaching and preaching. By some who love titles like Bishop, or the Holy Reverend so and so. How many people who were searching for Christ have been shipwrecked because of these greedy money hungry fake Christians have taken the Lords name in vain by their lies. As we grow in Christ we are being made aware of sins in our lives by the Holy Spirit. We are to confess these sins and turn away from them. One John one nine gives us assurance of being forgiven. When we allow the Holy Spirit to speak to our conscience or heart and we confess and Follow Christ we are becoming doers of the Word. Becoming a totally obedient believer of Jesus Christ is not accomplished in a ninuet or a day, but it takes our lifetime. Blessings in your walk with Jesus. justme |

Vamite: Welcome to the study Bible Forum. I just wanted you to know that you were not being ignored as you question is interesting and worthy of dialogue. I am totally reliant upon some very basic tools to deal with the Greek. I did look up the verse in two different Greek English New Testaments, as well as A. T. Robertson in his book WORD PICTURES IN THE NEW TESTAMENT in volume VI page 176-177 suggests that verse 10 and 12 use the same language in a few places. The heat can also be said to be that of a fever. However Robertson also says that verse 10 that when some translations say "shall be found." "There are various other readings here." and Robertson says "the text seems corrupt." Now I am not equipped to understand exact ally what all this really means, I do agree it is very interesting study. I went to college with Dr. James White who has Alpha Omega Ministries and is perhaps one expert of Greek and Apologetics. You can look up his ministry web site and gain some rreally deep studies there as well. Above all I have for my own growth a rather good selection of word study books because of my ignorance. Even with a seminary degree and a basic knowledge they teach, it is but a beginning knowledge of Greek, A serious Greek scholar works with the masterof this language every day as I have been told. So most of those who are learning Greek and plan to become proficient in the use of the language are not usually found on the Study Bible Forum, in my opinion. But there just might be a very modest Greek expert hiding in this forum. Blessings Vamite. justme |
