With peace....if you don't have peace about something, don't do it!! Instead, wait till you feel that peaceful, comfortable sense of God's presence and grace upon something. |

I don't know who the people are that you mention, but even sin can be a "comfort" to so many people....still doesn't make it godly. If people believe in Jesus, and what He did for us at the cross, they WILL have comfort...but also peace, joy, love, goodness, kindness, patience, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.... |

I believe the teaching we are receiving from television is somewhat correct, but it goes to context. Basically, if you read John, you will find many references that come close to saying that we participate in being God. John 12:36 While you have the Light, believe in the Light [have faith in it, hold to it, rely on it], that you may become sons of the Light and be filled with Light. Jesus said these things, and then He went away and hid Himself from them [was lost to their view]. So it seems that we participate in being God, because God is love, and the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts. We are sons of the light, and therefore we must be Light, because light cannot be darkness. I would prefer to think of myself as a son of God as Romans 8:14 says: For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God. This leaves little questions for debate. We must all be careful not to assume an identity of the deity soley reserved for referring to the Almighty, however, we are indeed brothers of Jesus Christ, and as a Christian, that should be good enough for us! Having said all that, we must remember that Jesus Himself said "these things I do, you shall do, and even greater things than this." Hallelujah!!! God bless us one and all! |
