1 | differetiate the Grace and mercy of GoD | Rom 6:23 | gracesdaughter | 84574
My pastor teaches that Grace is "getting what you don't deserve", and that mercy is "not getting what you DO deserve." (Rom. 6:23 "For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." He uses an illustration of himself as a child. Mercy is not getting a deserved spanking or punishment. Grace is receiving an undeserved gift despite inappropriate behavior. So to answer your question, yes, in my mind the two are opposite sides of the same coin. They are part of the love our God shows us.
