1 | who save us Jesus or Jehovah | John 8:58 | fellow worker | 145513
If you are referring to 1 John 5:7 in the KJ translation, you will need to abandon that verse. It's spurious, added by the unscrupulous without manuscript authority. The other estute members of the Forum will vouch for this, as will most other modern translations. |

2 | Is Jehovah lying? | John 8:58 | fellow worker | 145483
Tim: You have quoted an interpretation, not a translation. The words "as if" and "like" are not in the original Hebrew. You may reason that this is what God meant, but it is not what the inspired writings actually say. Jesus says at John 10:34,35: "Is it not written in your Law, 'I said: "You are gods:'? Your buddy Ray said of John 17:3 that "of the one" should read "of the One." Why not read Isaiah 43:10 as "no God formed." This is what I understand. Sure there are those called gods, but no one can claim to be God except Jehovah. If you realized that according to the original Greek at Col 1:15, Jesus is part of God's creation, we would not be having this discussion. I suggest you read BeDuhn's research on this verse as well. |

3 | are you saved by Jesus Christ or Jehovah | John 8:58 | fellow worker | 145329
(John 3:16-17) . . ."For God (Jehovah) loved the world so much that he gave his only-begotten Son Jesus), in order that everyone exercising faith in him might not be destroyed but have everlasting life. For God (Jehovah) sent forth his Son (Jesus) into the world, not for him to judge the world, but for the world to be saved through him (Jesus). (Acts 4:12) . . .Furthermore, there is no salvation in anyone else, for there is not another name (Jesus) under heaven that has been given among men by which we must get saved." So do you see the answer. You don't have to give all the credit to just one. But certainly one should direct the greatest credit to God (Jehovah) for providing his Son (Jesus) as the ransom. I show God and Jesus my appreciation daily by trying to 'live no longer for myself, but for him who died for me and was raised up.' (2 Cor 5:15) This is what the love of God means. (1 John 5:1-3) I hope the Scriptures have helped answer your question. |

4 | 'I AM' or 'I exist'? | John 8:58 | fellow worker | 145266
Shouldn't verse 33 say "make yourself a god" based on Jesus own reply in verse 34? Didn't the apostle Paul say "there are many gods"? I know you mean well, but I'll stick with Jesus and Paul on this one. |

5 | 'I AM' or 'I exist'? | John 8:58 | fellow worker | 145178
All monotheistic Jews were in expectation of the Christ - a man in the line of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Judah and David. They even thought perhaps John the Baptizer was the Messiah. (Luke 3:15) Please read this simple verse. John said the Word became flesh and resided amoung us, and we had a view of his glory. He goes on to say: "No man has seen God at any time." (John1:14,18) Jesus never claimed to be God or to be equal to God. Only lying apostate Jews accused Jesus of claiming such. They also accused him of violating the sabbath. Did he? No, he never once sinned. He was the son of God, the one sent by God, taught by God and yes, created first by God. Unless we accept Jesus is the son of God, we cannot be saved! "Who is the liar if it is not the one that denies that Jesus is the Christ? This is the antichrist, the one that denies the Father and the Son." John knew the difference. Do you? Patriarchal Jews knew that a Father begets a son and as Jesus admitted is "greater," not equal. Always giving glory to his Father Jehovah, Jesus gave all credit for the the things he spoke and miracles he performed to his God, the one he worshiped. Isn't it truly Christian to do likewise? |
