1 | But can WE know this? | Hebrews | dougboy777 | 16813
It is not up to us to say when someone has "lost it". That is left for the judgement. As it is so, not for us to say when someone has "gained it" nor whether someone "ever had it to begin with".
2 | What abt Rom 8 and 1 Jn 2? | Hebrews | dougboy777 | 16811
1 John 2:19 is refering to antichrists, not people that have fallen away from knowing God. Most like in reference to people such as Simon the Sorceror.
3 | If our answers relied on Scripture alone | Hebrews | dougboy777 | 16808
If you want scripture alone and not commentary, may i suggest you read the Bible and decide for yourself. It should be clear to you by now, that many people, even "bible scholars" have chose to believe what they were taught as children in sunday school, and more people really do need to just read the scripture and pray and decide for themselves.
4 | explain come unto mount si'on | Hebrews | dougboy777 | 16803
The mountain is which God came down on in the old testiment was to be revered and not touch, suggesting that none were holy enough to Approach God. But Hebrews is saying here that because of Jesus' sacrifice, we could no fully come to God, using the mountain as a imagery. Instead of an untouchable mountain, we have a new Mountain, Mount Zion, in which God is sitting and we can come to Him. Of course this mountain is not a literal, physical mountain. As far as what is being said in verse 23, and the referance to the church of "The First Born" refering to us, "The Body of Christ" An our sanctification being made "perfect" in order to be able to approach God, the Judge of all men.
5 | Rev 8:7 grass burned -9:4 no more grass? | Revelation | dougboy777 | 16728
Well, most tranlations say in in Rev 8:4 that 1/3 of the earth was burned, and then restates the 1/3 for the trees, and just leaves it off when refering to the grass, but it goes back to that 1/3 of the earth was burned, all of the grass on that 1/3 was burned, and only 1/3 of the trees of 1/3 of the earth was burned.
6 | Opinions of J. Falwell on WTC attack. | Rom 3:23 | dougboy777 | 16670
How can we blame the "lost" for allowing the WTC and pentagon attacks to happen? If, indeed it was orcastrated by militant islamic groups, their personal vendeta is against "christian america" not "secular america". They don't like military activity in mideast and other muslim nations and view it as "Holy wars" so, how Jerry Falwell could blame anything on the secular people in america is beyond me. The fault lies on the portion of the church, especially the ones in government, that are riding on the fence. The ones that can't seem to distinguish the difference between their love for God and their love for Country. Should we pledge allegance to the flag, or pledge our allegance fully to God?
