1 | a pastor being a good steward | NT general Archive 1 | dmthomas | 69140
In acts 6:1-5 the women were being neglected in the daily ministration and it was being told to the apostles well they came together and said that it was not reason that they leave the word of God (and this is the pastors purpose to deal with the word)to serve tables so they looked out and found 7 men of honest report to handle this business. now look at 1Tim3:8 it gives the qualifications for the deacons which are your stewards that they should not be greedy of filthy lucre which is money the apostles are considered as the pastor back then remember how Jesus told Peter to feed the sheep and lambs and that is their job our pastor at our church does not hold any treasure and does not deal with the offering tables. but the deacons those who handle the monies are to be a good stewards and the key to that is that they must be full of the Holy Ghost and i don't find anywhere in the Bible where it state that the pastor is to have any dealings with the church money i'm not saying that they shouldn't have an oversight of how and where it should be distributed but to actually handle it themselves i just don't find any scripture to support that and we all who have the Holy Ghost ought to be good trustworthy stewards of Christ in all that we do.
