4 | John 3:1-7 how can you say it's not true | 1 Cor 1:17 | compudex | 111337
Dear forum, Didn't you just say that the great commission was to preach and baptize? So now, does Paul call Jesus a liar? (1Co 1:17 KJV) "For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect." What do we say, "For Christ sent me not to baptize"? Did Paul know more than Christ? STOP FIGHTING AMOUNGST YOURSELVES ABOUT BAPTISM!!! The bantering back and forth does not exhort the church. If any unbeliever is looking at these posts they would think that even the So-Called-Church cannot come to an understanding. (1Co 1:14 KJV) I thank God that I baptized none of you, but Crispus and Gaius; Why would Paul say this? Well, look at these posts. Like a bunch of felines sitting on the backyard fence catting and meowing at each other. Brethren, be like minded, Christ NEVER condemned anyone if they believed in Him!! So why do you? 5 | "You have ravished my heart..." | Song 4:9 | compudex | 111239
Greetings dmont, A song, a poem to the beauty that has captivated him. Remember your first love, when you thought about your love, how you felt as though your body could not contain you? Your very being was about to jump right out of your body? Your thoughts where of nothing else? You where stripped of all else, your heart was ravished. Stripped of all conscience, wisdom, understanding and logic. All that mattered was that you were with them. To his wife he says, "My love, you look ravishing!" Be it not for his marriage he would commit sin because of the lust in his heart toward his wife. But now the marriage bed is undefiled. And my lust is no longer lust, but burning desire to be with my wife for she has taken my heart and I willingly gave it. She has captivated me and I am her prisoner. Twice spoken, thou hast ravished my heart, thou hast ravished my heart(Song 4:9). And with an exotic tone, I will say it, "Thou hast ravished my heart." So as the church is to Christ, His creation has ravished His heart and what better betrothal gift could He give His new bride but Himself. No supportive scriptures, just experience. compudex |

7 | differece between tithes and first fruit | Lev 27:30 | compudex | 111104
Greetings olaoluwa, DEFINITIONS: FIRST-FRUITS, n. 1. The fruit or produce first matured and collected in any season. Of these the Jews made an oblation to God, as an acknowledgment of his sovereign dominion. 2. The first profits of any thing. In the church of England, the profits of every spiritual benefice for the first year. 3. The first or earliest effect of any thing, in a good or bad sense; as the first-fruits of grace in the heart, or the first-fruits of vice. TITHE, n. The tenth part of any thing; but appropriately, the tenth part of the increase annually arising from the profits of land and stock, allotted to the clergy for their support. Tithes are personal, predial, or mixed; personal, when accruing from labor, art, trade and navigation; predial, when issuing from the earth, as hay, wood and fruit; and mixed, when accruing from beasts, which are fed from the ground. Example 1: A farmer: First-fruit: When the first apples mature on the trees. Tithe: One tenth of the harvest for that season. Example 2: A worker: First-fruit: Their first paycheck for that year. Tithe: One tenth of all their earnings for the year. These are just simple examples, the older Levitical Laws were much more complicated. Frist-fruit appears to deal more with what the ground brings forth. First-fruits and tithes were brought to the House of the Lord for the Levites so they would not be burdened with daily chores but could then devote all their time in their service to the Lord. The Levites did not receive any "land or real estate" inheretance in the Promised Land as the other tribes did. Their inheretance was The House of the Lord and to serve Him. SCRIPTURE: Tithes: Lev 27:30 And all the tithe of the land, whether of the seed of the land, or of the fruit of the tree, is the LORD'S: it is holy unto the LORD. Lev 27:31 And if a man will at all redeem ought of his tithes, he shall add thereto the fifth part thereof. Lev 27:32 And concerning the tithe of the herd, or of the flock, even of whatsoever passeth under the rod, the tenth shall be holy unto the LORD. Lev 27:33 He shall not search whether it be good or bad, neither shall he change it: and if he change it at all, then both it and the change thereof shall be holy; it shall not be redeemed. First-fruits: Deu 26:2 That thou shalt take of the first of all the fruit of the earth, which thou shalt bring of thy land that the LORD thy God giveth thee, and shalt put it in a basket, and shalt go unto the place which the LORD thy God shall choose to place his name there. Hope this helps. It is a fasinating study which gets quite involved. Eph 5:2 And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour. compudex |

8 | What are the different types of worship? | Bible general Archive 2 | compudex | 111075
Greetings Vala, Psa 29:2 Give unto the LORD the glory due unto his name; worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness. First, God is Holy and that demands reverence. Whatever you do in the name of the Lord with that in mind is worship. That could also included a terrible amount of joy which is sometimes hard to contain. And that is worship, too. David danced naked in front of the Lord. You could be a Holy-Roller, that is worship. You could be very proper and quiet, that also is worship. Jesus said, If you love me you will keep my commandments, that also is worship. Whatever is right and you do is worship. There is nothing you can do with God in your heart and mind that does not please Him. In this context all is worship. compudex |

9 | women take men? | Is 4:1 | compudex | 111068
Greetings cryst9m, I believe you are referring to: Isa 3:25 Your men will fall by the sword And your mighty ones in battle. Isa 3:26 And her gates will lament and mourn, And deserted she will sit on the ground. Isa 4:1 For seven women will take hold of one man in that day, saying, "We will eat our own bread and wear our own clothes, only let us be called by your name; take away our reproach!" The division of the chapters has interrupted the prophet’s discourse, and broken it off almost in mid sentence. “The numbers slain in battle shall be so great, that seven women shall be left to one man.” The prophet has described the greatness of this distress. The young women, contrary to their natural modesty, shall become suitors to the men: they will take hold of them, and press the men to marry them. In spite of the natural suggestions of jealousy, they will be content with a share only of the rights of marriage in common with several others; and that on hard conditions, renouncing the legal demands of the wife on the husband (*) and begging only the name and credit of wedlock, and to be freed from the reproach of celibacy. (*) Exo 21:10 "If he takes to himself another woman, he may not reduce her food, her clothing, or her conjugal rights. compudex |

10 | Son of man? | Dan 7:13 | compudex | 109815
welcome pgs, First you must understand exactly who Jesus is. Jesus is, was, God in the flesh. What you read in the scriptures about Jesus is really about God the Father. Jesus is the Word of the Father. The Father is the all, immutable power of the entire time-line, creator, and author of everything that has ever been or will ever be. Jesus is that part of God that was manifested to men. If you read about Jesus, you are reading about the Father. The Father is He that is in control of all things. God is Spirit. Jesus was flesh. Jesus is that part of God until He took upon Himself flesh, then He became Jesus. Jesus said, what I speak is that which I have heard from the Father. Jesus is the Word of the Father. Jesus is the Flesh into which we can see the characteristics of the Father. We see the Father by what we see in Jesus. Did He condemn? Did He kill? Did He inflict injury? Answer this: What was the purpose for God to come to Earth? God came to Earth to let man know that he had a friend in the heavens that was in love with His creation and that He would not let them go until they understood what He expected of them and that men might know Him. He gave us the choice to select good or evil. The “son of man” was born of simple man; He was debased by a simple and lowly place of birth, a stable, and a simple life, a carpenter. He was not anything special. Isaiah tells us that He was not a good-looking man that anyone should desire Him. (Isa 53:2) For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him. He came to us as any other man. We would not know Him from any other man walking down the street. He did not display Himself (no ego). Time and time again He asked for no recognition. As being called the “son of man”, He was the lowliest of the lowly. Born in a stable by a couple that was being scrutinized as having sex before marriage and surely the talk of the town. Son of man was the son of any ordinary couple, and the son of any one that loves God. The son of man that will and would take upon Himself to be obedient to the God that He was raised to believe in and had faith in, as a human. Even though He was God He took upon Himself the ordinary, the susceptible human traits that we have. (Heb 2:16) For verily he took not on him the nature of angels; but he took on him the seed of Abraham. He took upon Himself the seed of a man, the seed of the promise (Abraham). The promise being that in a simple man that Loved and listened to the Father and did the will of the Father no matter what, He was willing to do the same because of His love for the Father and His love for the creation of man and man himself. (Rev 3:12) Him that overcometh will I make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go no more out: and I will write upon him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, which is new Jerusalem, which cometh down out of heaven from my God: and I will write upon him my new name. May the light of God lead you! |

11 | Am I going to Heaven | Deut 23:2 | compudex | 105150
Dear stonerocker, (about Deut 23:2; many are unclear about this, some say that it means serving in the congregation or the tabernacle with the Levites) For by the LAW none will be saved. "For all we like sheep have gone astray. There is none good, no not one." Christ came not to do away with the law but to fulfill the law. He is the fulfillment of the law in that what we could not do under the law He did. Therefore rendering Him sinless. And, as a sinless sacrifice on Calvary, He became the offering to the Father for ALL of us. Your concern is very important. You have a desire to do what is right and ask this question. As our Lord says, "Let not your heart be troubled, if you believe in God, believe in me also." First things first. God DOES NOT LIE!!!! Isa 1:18 Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool. Here, Isaiah is talking about the coming of the Messiah, Christ Jesus, who will take away the sins of the world. Joh 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. Joh 3:17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. Above we see three (3) phrases that are the MOST important. 1. whosoever believeth 2. sent not 3. to condemn And finally the results of that promise..."should not perish, but have everlasting life." But, mainly the very point of all this is up to you. Do you believe? This question that everyone must answer is the solution. Peace to you, compudex |

13 | ...liars, shall have their part in.... | 1 Sam 21:1 | compudex | 102305
Hello GeoJoy, "Yet there are occurrences therein where the individual tells “what appears” to be a blatant lie, and is either blessed for the action, or there is simply no more mention of it." Lies have been contended with great force in other places. Consider, Acts 5:4, the account of Ananias and Sapphira. They lied and when they were confronted with it, that very moment, they died. Look at the company that God associates liars with: the fearful, and unbelieving, the abominable, murderers, whoremongers, sorcerers and idolaters. It is a heavy thing that the Lord has said! I can picture His associations, that very act of lying is what turned His first creation away from Him. Taking that perfect companionship away. Note: 1 Sam 21 "he pretended he was upon a secret expedition, by the order of Saul, which none were to know of, no, not his own servants, and that was the reason why he came to him alone; which was a downright lie, and was aggravated by its being told only for the sake of getting a little food; and especially told to an high priest, and at the tabernacle of God, and when he was come to inquire of the Lord there; and was attended with a dreadful consequence, the slaughter of the Lord's priests there, which afterwards lay heavy on David's mind, 1Sa 22:22; and is the very sin he is thought to refer to in Psa 119:28. This shows the weakness of the best of men, when left to themselves; David who as much hated lying as any man did, fell into it himself: " (J. Gill) Peace to you! |

14 | "...sin against God?" | Gen 39:9 | compudex | 102113
Hello Glenn, Joseph was from a house of nobility. Father - Jacob. Grandfather - Isaac Great Grandfather - Abraham He was raised knowing the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. Honoring family and friends. And no doubt the tale of the sinful promiscuous activity that was performed in Sodom and Gomorra, were passed down as fact from generation to generation, so was the act of God's wrath against such activity was passed on. And the fact that Sodom and Gomorra were destroyed by God would be proof in the pudding that that type of activity was sin unto God. Joseph's Great Grandfather, Abraham, witnessed this. As to Joseph's character: (Gen 39:2) And the LORD was with Joseph, and he was a prosperous man; and he was in the house of his master the Egyptian. "And Joseph was a goodly person.." (Gen 39:6) And he left all that he had in Joseph's hand; and he knew not ought he had, save the bread which he did eat. And Joseph was a goodly person, and well favoured. 15 | Is there a ligjt in the darkness? | Lam 3:2 | compudex | 102029
Footnote: your questions have ensnared my thoughts. Pondering on darkness. And into darkness. Perchance a preview, a taste, a minute glimpse, of weeping and wailing and gnashing of teeth. For what will it be like for those that do not come to the supper. What darkness will they suffer when God withdraws His absolute presence from them. It is a hard thing to consider because God is so much in this world now. What will it be like when His complete and total presence will be taken from them. Complete and utter darkness. With no hope. Never, ever! Why would I want to ponder on darkness? It shows me how much light there is. (Joh 1:5) And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not. Such was the state of man. Yet, while we were in such a state, through the darkness came the cross. Sometimes we need the darkness to see the light. Considering more on perfection: Like a man and his wife: they live together and become closer with each other until the man will start to speak and the wife will finish his sentence with the exact same words that he was going to use. They become to know each other, they become one. "And they shall become one flesh". Does this happen when they first meet? No. In time, being with each other, learning about each other, discerning each other, they are being perfected into one. Caring for one another, not seeing their own needs but rather the other's. "Men love your wives as Christ has loved the church." And with this kind of oneness when one of them dies, the other usually soon follows. Consider the dove, when one of them dies, the other pines itself to death. For they have mated for life. "I speak the words of my Father", says He. Jesus and the Father are so one that as the Father's words form Jesus speaks them. For He is The Word of God. "Father, why hast thou forsaken me.", what torment for one being so close. Did He taste that darkness? Peace to you! |

16 | Is there a ligjt in the darkness? | Lam 3:2 | compudex | 101988
Hello again dear Aixen7z4, Excellent! Is it personal perception? Why can't I get through to God? Where has He gone? Alas, I am in darkness! Is it because we are without understanding at that particular time in ones life? As the Hebrews in bondage in Egypt. What darkness they must have felt for 400 years. Sometimes we are in darkness for 400 seconds and we feel neglected of God. Trust, Patience. Trust - "Behold the salvation of the Lord" then the waters parted. Patience - "in due season"; "not as I will but as Thou will" (Rom 11:33) O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out! Definition: Perfection - not the quality of being perfect. But, the quality of being made perfect. An ongoing process, not a completed work. Perfection, yes. Because it is by perfection we come closer to Him and know Him more and to become how He wants us to be. Paul states of "for the perfecting the saints".(Eph 4:11) Perfecting us unto Glory. Growth - as in the natural from baby to man, so it is in the Spiritual, from milk to meat. You say: I have a sign over my desk saying, “Trust God in the darkness”. I wonder if that’s what he wants. Yes, because the sign already says that you trust Him in the light. Peace to you! You have much wisdom Aixen7z4. |

18 | ABRAM AND SARAI NAME CHANGE ACURE | Gen 17:4 | compudex | 101977
Greetings lisakb, Gen 17:1-22 Gen 17:4 As for me, behold, my covenant is with thee, and thou shalt be the father of a multitude of nations. Gen 17:5 Neither shall thy name any more be called Abram, but thy name shall be Abraham; for the father of a multitude of nations have I made thee. Gen 17:15 And God said unto Abraham, As for Sarai thy wife, thou shalt not call her name Sarai, but Sarah shall her name be. Gen 17:16 And I will bless her, and moreover I will give thee a son of her: yea, I will bless her, and she shall be a mother of nations; kings of peoples shall be of her. God said, "Behold, my covenant is with thee..". That makes it personal. As we, personally, today enter into a covenent with Jesus by accepting Him as Saviour, we too, get a new name. Not our christian name, but a new name written down in the Lamb's Book of Life.(Phi 4:3)(Rev 2:17)(Rev 3:5)(Rev 21:27) It was a sign to Abram and Sarai of a new covenant that was established between them by God Himself. Peace to you! |

19 | HELP ME PLEASE...I am not content! | Rom 12:1 | compudex | 101920
Dear Brother, As the other brother has indicated: This is a very hard subject to be addressed over the internet because you are going to receive advise that does not understand the pain that you are in. By your plea, you know God and you know what He thinks about this. But, brother, and I am NOT trying to push you aside, you need to get to a pastor, meet with him face to face, where he can council you and be your friend. The type written words that you will receive here will not do YOU justice because they are without knowledge of you. The internet cannot see you as a person. You need a personal friend that can openly talk with you and you with them. A person who has the kingdom of God in mind. Seek out a pastor of good reputation. He has been put in his position as a shepard. And he can be more of a friend to you than a computer screen. Even though, the Spirit of those you seek advise from on this forum will most likely be worthy. It still won't be the personal one on one help that you will need. Since you are calling out, we can see that you are truly sincere. Since you are willing to proclaim this shows a heart that wants to be right with God. If your local pastor turns you away, he is not worthy of God's callling. Seek another. This is a very deep rooted thing. Plus dear brother, I would fast and pray. For this kind of spirit does not come out without prayer and fasting. You need one on one personal contact with someone you can trust. Again, the internet is not the place. My prayer will go up to the Most High for you! Please, dear one, report your progress to us that we may rejoice with you. Peace to you! |

20 | Insufficient grace? | Luke 14:26 | compudex | 101644
May I interject? You said, "So how do I get myself clean so that I too am holy and pure like God." You said, "But Pastor, don't I have to clean up my act before I can come to Jesus?" You said, "...There is not ONE thing that I can do to make myself clean before God. All I can do is to trust Jesus?" You said, "Now what do I do?" Because of that last statement is the problem. Like there was some kind of formula. You use the word "clean" in three of your statements. So, you must be aware that something is wrong. Are you coming out of fear or perhaps convienence. Or do you really understand the gravity of things and you are truely thankful for what Jesus has done for you. If you say you are thankful, then the "Now what do I do" becomes "I will now do whatever I can" for the One that has given me this great gift. Because, now I know that He loves me. For I was dead and now I am alive, I have been born again. (Psa 34:18) The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit. (Those who are pressed and afflicted, by the sorrow of their heart under which their spirits are broken. To these the Lord is "nigh"; not in a general way only, as he is to all men, being God omnipresent, but in a special manner; he comes and manifests himself to them, calls to them, in a gracious way, pours in all of his love, and binds up their broken hearts, comes and dwells with them. He does not pass by them nor neglect them.) And now I love Him. Now, I will keep myself clean because I love Him, not because I have to but because I want to. Now you are ready. Into His fellowship, a partnership, an awareness of worth to Him, and you know within that new life that has entered you, there is nothing, nothing can take that love from your heart. That kind of love that is more than a wife, or a father or even life itself. Shout it from the roof tops, "Look what the Lord has done"! Shout it in the market place, "Jesus Is Lord"! Because I love Him and He has cleansed me. How did this all happen? Somebody told me about Him. |
