2 | perfect Christian? | Rom 3:28 | checho | 108424
I believe it is a subject where you just can pray and also let God guide you and also guide people around you. You say that "he is making himself miserable in the process", what does he say?. Maybe he doesn't feel that way. By example, I have plans to read the Lord of the Rings saga and to watch the movies(I wathc movies very late :) ). I have two good friends that don't approve it be cause it has (without a doubt) New Age and Ocultism influences. I want to read it because I love to read and it is one of the greatest tales in the U.K literature and World's literature. And of course one wich is beeing read by thousands of teenagers(my main ministery is with them). I read more/less three times more Christian Literature(Bible at the top ;-P ) than Secular, and by now I don't feel any hesitation in my heart nor other spiritual sign from God telling me not to do it. So I don't think it won't be more trouble for me. The position of my friends is that it is New Age and Ocultism and they are not going to read it and I shouldn't be doing it. period. I disagree with them but also I can understand their position. Our friendship hasn't been damaged for it. The only thing is that I can't invite them to watch the movie. Sorry, so much talk... point I try to rescue is that if He's trying to be a good christian and to rule himself with certain principles because he has to do it (law) and not because God's love has convinced his heart sincerelly (grace) sooner or later God will take care of him and guide him to the joy of serve and to be in God's side just for love, nothing else. But also there is the possibility that he actually feels the need of such rules just as an expression of his love forGod not an obbligation (as my friends don't watching Lord of the Rings). If this is the case you may be able to talk to him about it and to find a way of sharing this difference of opinion as part of your relation, praying God to guide both of you together for the right path. my best wishes for both of you! |

Give me some time, I'm going to get it tonight and spect to start reading by next week. I have very good comments from friends, most of them working with churchs. They say that it tends to give order to many principles that one usually hears in christianity but not preciselly in an ordered way. |

4 | Works of the OT Holy Spirit vs NT | Bible general Archive 2 | checho | 107074
It is not exactly different in the things He does but it is in purpose and magnitude. The whole Bible and the history of the human kind is guided according to God's purpose of giving salvation to the human kind in the person of Jesus (Jn 3:16, I Tim 2:4). OT tells the first part of this purpose: There's a Savior that is coming. NT, of course, tells the second one: The Savior is already here in all His Glory. The HS acts according to this purpose from the very beginning (Gn 1:1-3)since He is also God. His role in the OT was to give guidance and to confirm God's support to very specific persons in very specific situations, such as profets (2 Cr 24:20, Dn 5:14, Ez 11:24, Ex 35:31) involved in Gods plans for preparing, firt Israel and then the whole world for the coming of the Savior. You can see this as little signs of His power, not plenty revealed nor given at that moment since it wasn't necessary according to God's Purpose. In the NT this has to change, the HS has to be plenty revealed since there is no more preparation but confirmation of His Support and Guidance to the greatest of all Profets, the Holy One, the One Choosen: Jesus Christ (Jn 14:16, Jn 15:26). Jesus himself asks our Father to send the HS plenty to us in this time, and accordingly the Father, throught Jesus, sends Him to us (Jn 20:22, Jn 16:15, Jn 14:26). So, HS shows all his glory and Power in the NT, in wich is not only for some people, but for everyone that makes a personal decition of taking Jesus as his Savior and King, for every Christian (Mr 1:8, Mt 28:19-20). Almost as long as people let him act (Gal 5:25). Also, since the Plan is now completely revealed He is also here to guide us to grow in Christ (Gal 5,Jn 14:16), to confirm the presence of Jesus betweem us(Gal 5) and many more! References are in spanish since I'm not a native english speaker. I apologize. Hope this will help you a little bit. in Christ! |
