Greetings Azure, shalom Perhaps I've missed a previous question that would give the answer, but what Book are you referring to? Leviticus, Ezekiel....??? |

2 | Why do I feel like God is teasing me? | Bible general Archive 4 | ariel levin | 225736
Greetings Luna, First let me state that this is not the place to come for advice (not any forum). The venue just doesn't allow for the "personal touch" you need. And most of the regulars here are just ordinary people, not psychologists, so we're not trained to give you the help you need. Please seek professional help, either from a licensed psychologist or your pastor. It sounds to me like you need help seeing your worth outside of a relationship. You say you have no friends and no one understands you. It could be that they would like to be friends with you but you frighten them with your intensity. Get some one on one professional help to help you find that whole, intelligent, talented person that you are. When you start presenting that self-reliant person to everyone, they'll come flocking to you. I will tell you that the one thing I stressed the most to my kids was to not rush into any relationships. Get your education, get your career going, get your feet firmly planted on the ground first. In other words, a capable, self-reliant, self-sufficient person will draw that kind of person to themselves. Also, a lot of what you're going through has a name - Teenager. You're almost through it, hang on. Things do get better. Slow down. Relax. Enjoy your youth, it's gone far too quickly. God may know that you are not ready yet for a deep relationship. Better to wait on His timing and perfect mate than to rush into a big mistake. Look what happened when Abraham and Sarah decided to help Him keep His promise to them about a son! The descendants of those two boys are still at each other's throats! I will pray that you find the help you need to help you learn how to shine. We all have a light in us that the world needs (see the world needs you more than you need the world!!), some of us just need a little help in the twinkle department. :o) |

3 | I will work on the advice you gave me | John 14:6 | ariel levin | 225614
Good morning Legs, I'm sorry I confused you. By non-Messianic I mean prophecy that is not specifically about the Savior to come. Example: In Isaiah 45:13 Cyrus the Great is named approximately 100 years before his birth and what he'd do. Also see Isa. 45:1-6, Ezra 6:3-5, Ezra 11:11, then check Wekipedia and some other online sources for him (that would be secular sources; secular meaning nothingg to do with the Bible or church). Messianic means to do with Jesus and the promise of his coming. There are secular sources out there that confirm what the Bible says especially see Josephus and some other Jewish historians - also available online. It's just going to take some research work on your part. Have your mormon friend check for the same things in their "other bible." Keep in mind, that they also use the Bible you're familiar with but it's been changed enough to invalidate it. Have them check and verify what is not available to you in the Christian Bible. (Maybe you and your sister-in-law can buddy up on the research and do it together. That would be fun and informative.) Happy hunting!! |

4 | more help please, about mormons | John 14:6 | ariel levin | 225609
Has your mormon friend done his mission yet? If so, you've got a well-trained person on your hands. A mormon who has completed or is in the midst of their mission is very difficult to debate. Unless one is at least equally well-versed in the Word of God, they'll get you every time - they are prepared for just about any argument you can think of, except the one I'm about to suggest. This one method that can stop them in thier tracks will cost you time and research - look up several non-Messianic prophecies and show their fulfillment in secular sources, i.e. an historian or encyclopedia. Then look up several Messianic prophecies, along with those fulfillments, secular as well as biblical sources. Then ask your friend to do the same with his "bible." He won't be able to do it. (P.S. You can google biblical prophecy and Messianic prophecies, and you can probably find the secular citations of the fulfillments online as well.) (P.P.S. If nothing else, this exercise will edify yourself as you grow in the knowledge of the Scriptures.) |

5 | What is prayer, Where does it come from? | Matthew | ariel levin | 225550
Greetings Legsrandall, Why don't the two of you download Skype and have a good old fashioned Bible study, finding answers together. Aside from helping your sister out, it would make for a really nice bonding time for the two of you. Pen and paper (or email or even telephone) is good, but being able to talk and see each other in real-time is far better when it's something so important. |

6 | is this gentiles? | 1 Pet 2:9 | ariel levin | 224996
Dear Catarm63, The answer to your question is both yes and no. Originally, God chose Abraham and his descendants to be His chosen, set-apart people, but they were not to be exclusive. From the very beginning Gentiles were welcome to join Israel and Israel was to be lights in the dark world. Sadly, they failed in this mission. But God has not thrown them away. Since the crucifixion and ascension the gospel has gone out to the Gentiles and now they are to be the lights (along with any Hebrew who trusts in God's Messiah). Gal 3:27 For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ. Gal 3:28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. Gal 3:29 And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise. And in this way Paul's statement in Rom. 11:26, "...so all Israel shall be saved..." for all who trust in God's Messiah are the True Israel that Paul speaks of. |

Shalom Garciann, Pro 31:26 When she opens her mouth, she speaks wisely; on her tongue is loving instruction. CJB Are you trying to read something super spiritual into chapter 31? Take it to mean what it says. Chapter 31 is simply painting a beautiful picture of a godly wife (woman/mother). |

8 | The error addressed in 2 Peter | Bible general Archive 4 | ariel levin | 224772
Good morning Beja, This is probably NOT the answer you are looking for, but here goes: Whenever I see the terms "law," "lawless," etc. in the NT, I substitute with the terms Torah, Torahless. Most people, even way bach when, abide by the laws of their dwelling, so law and lawlessness must refer to something else entirely. I'm not certain what antinomanianism (or nomanianism) is but I believe that the standard God set before Israel is for all redeemed people. (It's not a "pick and choose" sort of thing, but obviously not all commands are for everyone at any given time - but God's Torah is still alive and well.) Just my 2 cents worth |

9 | did jesus keep the law | NT general | ariel levin | 224429
Shalom rbradley, Yes, he did. His complaint was with Pharisaic Judaism of the day. They, like Rabbinical Jews of today, believed that the oral traditions of men were as inspired as the Scriptures. If you follow the Sermon on the Mount (from either Matthew or Luke) you'll see that Jesus says 'you've heard...' (this you won't find in the Torah, but in the Talmud, Mishna, Gemara), then he continues with, 'I tell you...' (and this you CAN find in the Books of Moses). This was one of the many reasons the Pharisees didn't like him, he held a mirror of themselves up for them to see and the picture wasn't pretty. |

10 | Making extra money for God Kingdom | Bible general Archive 4 | ariel levin | 224403
Good morning Grace, shalom, These people were not selling things for the furtherance of God's Kingdom. The Temple had its own currency standard, its own farms for breeding the sacrifice animals as well. When the people would come from all over the known world for the pilgrimage feasts these money-changers went to work. They would exchange all currencies for the Temple shekel and would make large profits for themselves at the expense of their brethren (usually the very poor). By the time of Jesus, most of the sacrifice animals were also purchased through the temple as well and this just afforded the money-changers and lenders another way to cheat their own people. This practice was against Torah and infuriated Jesus. Is selling hot dogs and applebutter, etc. a good thing? I'll leave that up to the Holy Spirit - but it doesn't equate to what the money-changers were doing. |

11 | Why dont we live old law handed by moses | Bible general Archive 4 | ariel levin | 224393
Shalom dgmawright, If we choose to believe that the Law has been "nailed to the cross," that it is no longer in effect then that means that there is no command for sacrifice. Why then would Jesus have to die for us? His death would have been unnecessary to fulfill a non-existant command for sacrifice. If Torah is no longer valid then there is no longer any witness against us. And without the Law, we have no sin as there is no document in place stating that we have transgressed. So, once again, it would be pointless for Jesus to have died for us if we have no sin and haven't broken any law. But because Torah was alive and valid and is still alive and viable and fully operational even today we need Jesus' blood to cleanse us. As for the word "Elohim" most scholars concur that it is used as a majestic plural, kind of like Queen Elizabeth saying something like, "...we think it's time for us to get some rest now, goodnight..." The only time the word would actually mean more than one god is when the passage is clearly speaking of the "gods of Egypt" or the "gods" of any of the pagan nations, but certainly never of the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. |

12 | moses's song | Bible general Archive 4 | ariel levin | 224067
Shalom bjb61, The Song of Moses can be found in Deut. 33:1-43 and a bit of further info concerning this prophetic song in verses 44-47. I know that there is a song called the Song of Moses (a beautiful song, I love it) which supposedly is taking place in Rev. chapts 4 and 5 but I cannot find where the songs mentioned in those chapters actually call their song by that title. I skimmed the later chapters of Rev and still couldn't find the songs being attributed to Noses. |

13 | Jesus doesn't answer me | Bible general Archive 4 | ariel levin | 224018
Shalom Mamametal, First off, "dup question" is just a shortened way of tagging a question as a duplicate question. Azure's tagging of it not only keeps the home page clean, it alwo eliminates the confusion of following 2 identical threads and getting several "dup amswers", lol. I'm only going to address your very first statement - "I know little about scripture". Psa 37:4 Then you will delight yourself in Adonai, and he will give you your heart's desire. My interpretation of this scripture is NOT that He will give someone that new Farrai they've been desiring, rather, God Himself will give someone a thing to desire and then He will bring that desire to reality. But to know whether or not something you are wanting is in His will you have to know His word. It is thru His word that He speaks to us today, not thru prophets on the street corner, or thru thundersings and lightenings (not that He never uses these methods today, they're just rare). It is in His word that we learn what to want and desire. We also have to keep in mind that He answers prayer in His own time, not on our timetable. Look how long Abraham had to wait for his promised Isaac! I'm sure Abraham's idea was "in the next year or so God? I mean, look at me here..." I'm sure everyone reading of your distress will be joining me in prayer for you. Start reading the Scriptures (if reading is difficult for you thate are websites that have the bible in audio that you can listen to online), but He is speaking to you loudly and clearly right there in His word. He wants you to know Him and hear Him. :o) |

14 | Did Jesus come for the gentiles only? | Col 3:11 | ariel levin | 223644
Hello clreid, How about one of the first prophecies of the Messiah and one of the first promises to Abraham when God said "Through you all nations shall be blessed." Gen. 12:1-3 You might look into finding another bible teacher. There are minor differences of opinion that can be overlooked but to divorce God and His Messiah from His chosen people is just wrong.....(See Jer. 33:19-26)....it's totally unscriptural!! |

15 | Did John really baptise Jesus?? | Bible general Archive 4 | ariel levin | 223505
Good morning Cecilk, Back in the day (and also in the present) Jews perform a ritual called "mikveh". They do this as they move from one place in life to another - as a part of their bar or bat mitzvah, getting married, becoming a parent, changing jobs, changing residences, as well as repenting of one's wrongs and changing the direction of their lives. I see this "baptism" of the Messiah as His mikveh. He walked into the water as a 'carpenter', son of Joseph and Mary, He walked out of the water into His public ministry. John would not have been "baptising" any of the people according to NT procedure, he would have been scooping up the water with his hands and saying a blessing over the repentant person as the water seeped through his fingers back onto the top of the repentant's head (which would be under the water coming up out of the water). As far as what he said, it might have sounded something like "Blessed are you O Lord, Master of the Universe, Who gives us life, and sustains our lives, and Who has brought us to this most sacred moment." |

17 | communion | Exodus | ariel levin | 222047
Dear Flyguild, I totally forgot to give you the references you asked for: Matthew 26:20-29, Mark 14:12-26 and Luke 22:14-23. |
||||||
18 | communion | Exodus | ariel levin | 222046
Dear flyguild, Jesus was in the middle of the Passover Seder. There are 5 cups of wine, each representing something specific from Exodus 6:6-7. 1st cup “I will bring you out” (deliverance) 2nd cup “I will rid you of their bondage” (freedom) 3rd cup “I will redeem you” (redemption) 4th cup “I will take you for my people and I will be your God” (sanctification) 5th cup which is poured between the 2nd and 3rd cups, but not drunk till last, is the Cup for Elijah. The cup that Jesus spoke of was the 3rd cup, and He said, in essence, “from now on, when you observe this Passover, THIS cup is the cup of My blood, do this from now on in remembrance of Me.” No thanks to Constantine and the RCC, Christians have lost the Passover Seder. For anyone who has never observed the commemoration, either Jewish or Messianic, I would encourage you to consider doing so next year, especially if you can find a local Messianic congregation nearby. It will be an experience that will bring it all home to you and you see that regardless of what Judaism is today, when these Seder traditions came into fruition, their hearts were longing for their Messiah. Even though you didn't ask about it, I'll also show you Jesus in the Matza that is eaten. There are 3 pieces of matza, the middle one is taken, wrapped in a napkin and hidden (buried). Later, a child hunts for and finds this middle piece of matza which is then broken into pieces and consumed by all at the table. Sound familiar? Those are just 2 of the places in the Seder where Jesus can be seen, even if you're not looking! |

19 | prayer | Bible general Archive 4 | ariel levin | 221950
Dear wejlly, Doc answered correctly, there is no scriptural reference for praying for the dead. Following is the Jewish and Messianic "Mourner's Kaddish" written sometime in the 9th century. Notice that there is actually not one single word said for or about the dead in it - instead, it is a prayer that extolls the greatness and compassion of our God of Israel and our willingness to submit to His will: Exalted and sanctified is God's great name (Amen) in the world which He has created according to His will, and may He establish His kingdom in your lifetime and during your days, and within the life of the entire House of Israel, speedily and soon; and say, Amen. (Amen. May His great name be blessed forever and to all eternity.) May His great Name be blessed forever and for all eternity. Blessed and praised, glorified and exalted, extolled and honored, elevated and lauded be the Name of the Holy One, blessed be He, (blessed be He) beyond all the blessings and hymns, praises and consolations that are spoken in the world; and say, Amen. (Amen.) May He who makes peace in the heavens, make peace for us and for all Israel; and say, Amen. (Amen.) |
