1 | What is God's description of the Earth? | NT general Archive 1 | Truthfisher | 175212
Pukalanian, Thanks for the correction on Magellan.. As soon as I seen Galileo in your post it dawned on me.. I'm sorry, but I can't answer for why God would choose to do something.. Maybe the Lord will choose to enlighten us someday. There is certainly a lot of scripture that seems elusive and confusing. Proverbs 2 says "My son, if you receive my words and treasure my commands within you, So that you incline your ear to wisdom, and apply your heart to understanding, If you cry out for discernment, and lift up your voice for understanding, If you seek her as silver, If you seek her as for hidden treasures: then you will understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God. For the Lord gives wisdom; from His mouth come knowledge and understanding. There are things that God doesn't choose to reveal to us in scripture but a lot of the time it's just because man has looked at the Bible to prove their point instead of really looking to see what God says. I've heard it said many times that you could use the Bible to prove anything you wanted to prove and most definitely man has done that very thing over and over again. Having said that, I believe that God has put in His Word exactly what we need to know. He is indeed Perfect, Holy, Righteous, Good and Fair. What He chose to put down in His Word is perfect. After all he wrote it for us. But, there are things that are impossible for us to understand. I think this is more evidence that a Divine mind was the author. For a man would not leave so many paradox's, so many seemingly unreconciled passages. It's not because God is slacking, But us in our limited (and fallen)comprehension. I really don't think it would have mattered what God said regarding creation.. Fallen man would "suppress the truth with unrighteousness" and even with the overwhelming evidence man still does just that.... Thanks for your post God Bless, Truthfisher |

2 | Exodus 4:11, God creates all of us | Deut 32:4 | Truthfisher | 175022
Hey Guys, Could we agree that God is good? God is just, he is holy, he is fair, and he is righteous. If God is love, is he not perfect in love? Is he perfect in hate? (a concept probably impossible to comprehend from a fallen state) God hates sin. That means God hates without sinning... True? Because God is Good he cannot allow sin to go unpunished... Think about it If your wife, daughter, etc. was raped and murdered. If the police caught the person who done this. There are 3 witnesses. The man is taken before the judge. Ask yourself this, If the Judge let the guilty man go would you think he was a good judge or a bad judge? Because God is good he cannot allow murderers, rapists, thieves, and others who have broken his Moral law to enter Heaven. We are all born with a God-given conscience (which means "with knowledge") We have a knowledge of right and wrong but we "suppress the truth with unrighteousness". Jesus said you must be born again. We must confess and repent and put our faith and trust in the LORD JESUS CHRIST. Truthfisher |

3 | 1 Thes 5:21, Test All Things | NT general Archive 1 | Truthfisher | 174864
Howdy pukalanian, I definitely agree that we never stop learning.. You mentioned "Even the long held presummed truths of old have been replaced...etc.." When they believed that the earth was flat did that make it flat? The Truth never changed. the earth was always round.. In Job 38:12-14 speaks about the earth being taken ahold of by the ends and shaken.. and in vs. 14 "It is changed like clay under the seal" The hebrew word for changed is turned. This implies that the earth is turned like a cylinder or seal rolled over clay.. earth rotating on axis???.... Isaiah 40:22 mentions He that sits upon the circle of the earth... Several commentaries I have note this as the Bible teaching the earth is round.... not a flat disc but a sphere.... It was God's Word that inspired Christopher Columbus to sail around the world.(from his diary, in reference to his discovery of the "New World") "It was the Lord who put it into my mind...I could feel His hand upon me...There is no question the inspiration was from the Holy Spirit because He comforted me with rays of marvelous illumination from the Holy Scriptures...No one should fear to undertake any task in the name of our Savior....The gospel must still be preached to so many lands in such a short time. This is what convinces me." Job 26:7 "He hangs the earth upon nothing" At one time it was believed that the earth sat on a giant or large animal.....but the Bible spoke of the earths free floating in space.... Interestingly enough, Somebody please correct me here if I'm wrong but I think it was Magellan who was persecuted at one time by the Catholic Church for saying/or teaching that the earth was round ... Thought I'd throw in a few cents before somebody tells me to keep the change... God Bless, Truthfisher.... P.S. I don't know about 1 percent of 1 percent of anything but I'm hoping that I'll move on up to the 1.25 percent of 1 percent before it's all said and done.. Even then It will be a Glorified 1.25 percent Ha! but I'll have a long time to work on it... |

4 | Does child die for fathers sin? | Bible general Archive 3 | Truthfisher | 174517
In 1 Kings 14 there is another passage involving a child dying. Judgement is placed upon the House of Jeroboam. Is this in some ways a parallel with the 2 Samuel passage except for David having a penitent heart? Both had a curse placed upon them. David of course lived and Jeroboam died but houses still suffered consequences. By the way, 14:13 is an interesting verse. Speaking of the child who was to die,"there is found something good toward the Lord God" and he was the only one that was to be buried.... God Bless, Truthfisher |
