1 | Divorced pastors and repentence | Matt 3:8 | SerrasNewRoad | 158750
I cannot speak to the office of a pastor, but I can say what I would like to see as a parishioner. The true fruit of repentance. For instance, if the pastor was divorced as a result of his adultery, and is now reconciled to his wife (and married to her) that is a powerful testimony. That is proof that God is working in this man's life. I would also like to see that the damage to the woman with whom he had the affair (presumably that is the scenario) was addressed, and she has recovered. And, I would want to hear his testimony of not how he repented (because anyone can do that, and go back to sinning 100 times over), but rather, how God by His Holy Spirit in Power had transformed him heart, mind, soul and strength. This can all take time. God does not work in our lives like a 30 minute sit com. Praise God that He is patient, slow to anger, and abounding in mercy, lest we would get what we deserved, and we would be utterly destroyed. |

2 | Explain Matthew 21:28-43 | John 9:41 | SerrasNewRoad | 158741
With regard to John the Baptist (Elijah) and the Messiah, please read all of Isaiah 40, however in the gospels of Mark and John the key verse which is highlighted is Isaiah 40:3. Jesus did not come to abolish the law and the prophets, but to fulfill them. Jesus is our Righteousness. Isaiah 7:14: Immanuel - God with us. He is with us. He does lead us in the paths of righeousness for His Name's sake (Psalm 23). We cannot hope to make ourselves righteous. I support above this answer with John 9:41 because it is a rebuke of the Pharisees, which you are seeing in the gospel of Matthew. We, as the His body, need to be constantly on guard that the leaven of the Pharisees is not part of our preaching as well. We do not want to follow in their footsteps. For the "what not to do's" of the faith, see all of Matthew 23. The contemporary church is guilty of these sins as well. There is nothing new under the sun. In Matthew 23: 37-30 we can hear God's heart breaking for His people. But, blessed are those who hunger and thirst after righteousness, for they shall be satisfied. Consider the following - Poverty, Humility, Chastity, Love. Begin with Poverty. Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven. Peter says of the apostles - We have left everything to follow you. Remember the parable of the poor beggar Lazarus, who is taken up to Heaven and resides in the comfort of the bosom of Abraham. Pray to God to show you how you are impoverished. Next - Humility "All our righteousness is as filthy rags". "There is none who does good, not one". "He humbled Himself to death, even death on a cross". "Learn of Me, for I am meek and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls". Next - Chastity - "All sins a man commits outside his body, but the sexual sin a man commits against his own body". Marriage is a holy union, and a type of the Marriage Feast of the Bridegroom (Jesus) and the Bride. Jesus said, if a man even looks at a woman with lust in his heart, he has already committed adultery with her. Finally - Love. Love is the central teaching of our faith. Divine Love gave us Jesus the baby in the manger, Jesus the sacrificial Lamb on the cross, and Jesus, the Victorious One, who sat down at the right hand of God the Father the Almighty having ascended into Heaven. Here is our righteousness. There is no other. Take hold of it by faith. He will work the rest. |

3 | tell me the bible phrase | NT general Archive 1 | SerrasNewRoad | 158705
This is the central question of the Christian faith. It is the condition of all human persons. We think that to enjoy life is to live separated from God. In fact, He (Jesus) has come that we might have life, and have it to the full. How do you explain that to the unsaved. I would say, if one is of God, then God will work in the life of this person so that they will ultimately come to the cross having grown tired of sinning (the parable of the prodigal son). If they are not of God, then they will die in their sins. To die in one's sins means to be judged and sent into the lake of fire, where there is weaping and gnashing of teeth, eternal separation from God. Christ's atoning death for us on the Cross saves all who believe in Him from this eternity, which is quite real, do not doubt. Jesus speaks to the Churches in Revelation of the Nicolaitans - He hates them. According to one reference I used, the Nicolaitans were (are, let's face it) a class of professing Christians who sought to introduce into the church a false freedom of licentiousness, thus abusing Paul's doctrine of grace. In other words, you, me, and your friend must choose this day whom we will serve - do we choose God and life and blessings, or the devil, death and curses. Do we choose eternal life with Christ, or eternal death without Christ in the lake of fire, where there is weaping and gnashing of teeth. Sin is a wretched business. It starts as a gentle slip, a tiny compromise, and quickly one is down a sharp and icy incline that is harder and harder to turn back from. Shame, guilt, pride, inner turmoil, anguish, addictions, can all lead one to say to the world that they are truly happier living outside of God's holiness. In fact, most sinners drench their beds with tears, and can look at their lives and count the cost of their "enjoyment of this world". Jesus said that in the last days the love of many would grow cold because of wickedness. This is the era we live in right now. People are so cold, they cannot imagine how loving God is. So, they stay trapped in their sins. And, those who come to Christ, or preach Christ, often do so in a watered down manner. Therefore, I will speak boldly to your friend. There is no part of us that He cannot touch. And having touched us with His healing love, there is no part of us left. All we have, all we are, and all we can ever become are His, because He has ransomed us from the pit of hell by the power of his atoning sacrifice on the Cross. He can circumcise your heart. He can make the crooked path straight. He can make all things new. Yes, you can love again. |

4 | What is righteous to Jesus | NT general Archive 1 | SerrasNewRoad | 158703
Remember when the rich man approached Jesus, and He told the disciples that it easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the Kingdom of Heaven. The apostles were shocked at this - they asked, then who can be saved. Jesus spoke of the condition of all mankind when He said with man this is impossible, but with God, all things are possible. Remember, O man, you are dust, and to dust you shall return. Humility is the beginning of righteousness. Remembering that if we have white robes, it is because they are soaked in the atoning blood of the precious Lamb of God. The Apostle Paul writes that "all our righteousness is as filthy rags". What then, do we do? We are to love God and keep His Commandments. The 10 commandments are summed up in "To love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, with all thy mind, with all thy soul, and all thy strength" and "love thy neighbor as thyself". Then He said He gave us a new commandment, "to love one another, as I have loved you". How did He love us? After He washed our feet, He was physically tortured, humiliated, and died on a cross. All for us. This is righteousness. Truly, with man this is impossible, but with God, all things, even righteousness, are possible. Seek Him through fasting and prayer. Ask him for His Holy Spirit - you cannot hope to live out His love in this world without His Holy Spirit actively guiding you. You must walk intimately with Jesus to abide in Him, and as you abide in Him, He will glorify His Father through the good fruit you bear. The Son did not seek to glorify Himself, but rather the Father. So we should not seek to glorify ourselves, but rather, that in our loving abiding in Him, that He can glorify His Father in our abiding in Him. How does all this happen? Start with prayer - and let Him lead you in the paths of righteousness for His name's sake (not your own). |

5 | Romans and Hebrews in relation to God | Bible general Archive 3 | SerrasNewRoad | 158702
Starting with Romans 3 - St. Paul quotes from Psalm 51. So, let us go to Psalm 51. The is the Psalm written by David, the man after God's own heart, after Nathan rebuked Him for the adultery with Bathsheba. Was not David created in God's image, just as you and I? And were it not the case that all of us created in the image of God had sinned, would Christ's atoning sacrifice have been necessary, and therefore an historical fact? Is it not the case that God watched His only begotten Son die on a Cross, because He loves us. And the Son went to the Cross because He (the Son) loves us. And that He sends us the Comforter (the Holy Spirit) having ascended to His Father, because He loves us. Did He not create us in His own image as an act of Divine Love beyond our comprehension? Is not the cross beyond our comprehension? Forget about being in right relationship with creation. By Genesis 1:26 we are created in God's image and we have dominion over God's creation (to subdue, not to pollute). How to be in right relationship with God? How did Satan fall out of right relationship with God? By thinking He could ascend higher than God. Remember, O man, you are but dust, and to dust you will return. Pray to the Father in the name of Jesus, ask Him for His Holy Spirit. Fast and pray. Seek Him in His sacraments. Confess your sins to Him daily - Good confession scriptures are: Start with John 13:1, then go to one or more of the following, as the Lord leads: DEUT 5, John 15: 1-8, John 1:1-13, Exodus 20: 1-17, Isaiah 40:15-17, Leviticus 26: 40-45, Romans 3:8-31, Matthew 26: 20-25, Isaiah 42:25, Isaiah 44:15-20, Leviticus 19:5-8, Luke 23: 40-43, Luke 24:7, Psalm 52:3-4, Psalm 51:3-4. Finally, close your confession with 1 John 1-10. Pray then as the Lord leads. Having fully confessed your sins as you are aware, and prayed/read 1 John 1-10, read the Communion scriptures: starting at Luke 22:7, Matthew 26:26, and 1 Corinthians 11:23. "Unless you eat of my flesh, and drink of my blood, you have no life in you". Having experienced the grace of God by His atoning sacrifice on the Cross, are you now drawing closer to Him? Do you now love Him more? Do you now long to joyfully keep His commandments? Apart from Him, we can do nothing. John 15:1-8 - He is the Vine, we are to abide in Him in love, as He abides in the Father, and the Father is in Him. Ours is a life of Love. Have you forgotten your first Love (Rev 2:4)? If so, I guide you to the Song of Solomon, all of it. Surrender to the power of the Holy Spirit. Remember - of all that the Father has given Jesus, the Good Shepherd, He will lose none. If you are His sheep, you know His voice, let Him lead - just follow. |

6 | God is like the wind is this biblical | Acts 2:2 | SerrasNewRoad | 158701
"Like the wind" refers to the Holy Spirit. Be careful - We live in a time of great apostacy and heresy in the church. We very much create God in our own image - an abomination. Ask the Father in the Name of Jesus to teach you of Him, in order that you may teach your child well. Learn of Him from His Holy Word, the Bible. Surely, He who created the world (including the wind) in 6 days, and rested on the 7th, the God of the old and new testaments, can be described more fully than "wind". I trust that by simply telling the truth of what He has mean to you, and what the Bible teaches of Him, you will have a splendid answer to begin your child on his or her journey of faith, a journey ultimately in the hands of the Saviour. Perhaps go to the Father in prayer, and ask in the name of Jesus, to know how Mary talked to Jesus of the Father, or how Hannah spoke to baby Samuel about God. She only had Samuel until he was weaned - I wonder what she told him during that time? I suspect, wind wasn't part of her testimony. |

Yes. | ||||||
8 | how to increase faith | Luke 17:5 | SerrasNewRoad | 158698
I refer you to John 15: 1-8. Do not seek to glorify yourself. Be perfect as Christ is perfect. The Only Begotten Son of the Father seeks only to glorify the Father. So should we seek to abide in the Son and bear fruit in accordance with His will, in order that the Father may be glorified in the Son. Pray to the Father in the name of the Son - will He not give the Holy Spirit to those who ask it of Him? And will not the one true God, the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, lead you in paths of righteousness for His name's sake. And if He does this, will you not have what you seek? For how does one live a holy life in the world - to be fully sanctified out of this world - to be in the world and yet not of the world? Is it not only by confessing our complete incompetence to do anything on our own, and therefore invite Him to take over - to trust in the Lord with all of our heart, and lean not unto our own understanding. To love Him and keep His commandments, even when rationality, logic and intelligence tell us otherwise. Is that not the life of faith? Will not every persection you take as you live for Him the sanctified life increase your faith? Do not create for yourself crosses to bear - the true cross is the one you do not ask for - it is the unrequested miseries of life that force us to rely fully on Him - there we grow in faith, grace, and intimate communion with Him through the power of His Holy Spirit. If you are counted worthy to share in His sufferings (and we all are in accordance with His grace to us) you will grow in faith. And, if you suffer because of your own sins, as you find yourself forgiven and resurrected by the power of His atoning sacrifice on the Cross, your faith is sure to increase such that you can strengthen others when you recover. I regret that this was exactly Jesus instruction to Peter after the warning that he would deny Him three times. Yes, even Peter had weak faith. Yes, over time, through trials and blessings, it increased. And, yes, in the end, it was Christ who was glorified in his life, his preaching and his death. Seek to follow in the footsteps of Peter. Ask Christ in prayer to increase your faith, fill you with His Spirit, and make you holy, in order that you may abide in Him, and He may glorify the Father in your abiding.
9 | will going to church get me to heaven? | Bible general Archive 3 | SerrasNewRoad | 158697
You are actually asking a very complicated question that could result in an inappropriate answer that deceives many. I like to answer questions with questions - I assume you ask because you do not go to church. If that is the case, why? Yes, it is the case, that we live in the end times and the harlot church is all around us, full of apostasy, heresy, the doctrine of nicolaitans that Jesus hates (perverting grace into lawlessness), etc., etc. Yet, as Paul writes, it is not good to shun collective worship. "Seek, and ye shall find". If you have been orthodox, seek out charismatic. If charismatic, learn the Nicene creed and experience Eucharist as the Real Presence. If liberal, try conservative evangelical. If very conservative evangelical, consider Christ's mercy and love of the sinner, especially ourselves. And, most of all, try to remember how you became His (assuming, of course, that you are), and how you came to know who He was. Perhaps, you heard a message once in a church. I point you to Reveleation 2:4 - rekindle your first love with the Bridegroom, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Spend time with those who also love Him, in a highly imperfect church service, singing His praises, hearing His word preached, and receiving refreshment that comes only from corporate worship. Will it save your soul. I don't know - but it can't hurt. Keep smiling.
10 | Can one connect with first centuty sins? | Rev 2:23 | SerrasNewRoad | 158696
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of Wisdom. I will answer your question with a question ... "Why have you conceived this thing in your heart". Remember Jesus' teaching of the wedding banquet - that one is found at the banquet dressed improperly, and so is cast out - many are called but few are chosen. Be among the called, the chosen, and the faithful. Do not think to attend the Marriage Supper of the Lamb dressed in deception, greed and lawlessness. Be not the wicked servant who, because He sees the Lord tarry, [Amos 4 in agreement with the gospels] oppresses the poor, crushes the needy, and becomes a drunkard. Live every moment of your life in Amos 4:12 - "Prepare to meet your God".
