This is what I learned from my Bible study--Laodicea was a wealthy center of commerce; its citizens specialized in the production of woolen goods. Its medical shool was famous for its eye ointment. It also boasted a bubbling hot springs a few miles from town. The people managed to pipe the water into the city, but it was sickeningly lukewarm by the time it got to their homes. This church represents the time period in which we are living. It is pictured as a church of compromise,neither hot nor cold. | ||||||

Laodicea was a wealthy city of commerce that specialized in woolen goods, had a medical school famous for its eye ointment. It had a hot springs outside of town a ways that was piped into the town but by the time it got there it was lukewarm. The church represents our own times of compromise -- not willing to commit completely to God's Word. | ||||||
