1 | Gods promises and covenants to the Jews | OT general | Richard S | 234752
"Therefore, I tell you that God’s kingdom will be taken away from you and will be given to a people who produce its fruit" (Matt 21:43, Common English Bible). I felt it worth contributing just this one biblical point. Jesus himself has the active voice in the above excerpt. While the Israelite nation did have a special relationship, or covenant, with God, this was replaced by a new arrangement which was instituted by Jesus Christ, and is the very basis of modern day Christianity. It is the reason we are all equally free to reconcile ourselves to God. What a beautiful gift. |

2 | PROMISES | Gen 3:15 | Richard S | 234751
In no way do I claim this to be a complete answer; their are so many prophesies and promises in the bible that one would find it a very difficult task to count them all, although someone may have done just that. What I wanted to highlight, according to Scripture, is the purpose of those promises - their origin. One of the earliest recorded biblical promises appears in Genesis 3:15: "I will put contempt between you and the woman, between your offspring and hers. They will strike your head, but you will strike at their heels" - Common English Bible. When you understand the purpose of this prophesy, all the other ones fall into place. They're fundamentally connected(John 3:16; Col. 1:15,Heb. 2:9, 14). I hope this explanation will help you to understand not just the number, but the purposes of the wonderful promises we find God's Word. |
