1 | How can the Bible be "objective" truth | Bible general Archive 1 | Radioman | 38338
Flippancy dealing with Scripture. This verse means to me.... "Avoid superficial interpretation...avoid superficial interpretation. One of the common problems in interpreting the Bible is this little phrase, "This verse means to me...." so forth and so forth and so forth. Let me tell you something. It doesn't matter what it means to you, the question is what would it mean if you didn't live? What would it mean if you didn't exist? What does it mean period is the issue, not what does it mean to you. "Sometimes you'll hear people get together and supposedly have a Bible study which is little more than a pooling of ignorance. People say, "Well, I look at this verse and I feel this verse is saying..." It doesn't matter what you feel. That has nothing to do with it. It's not a matter of how you feel about the verse, it's not a matter of what you think it means to you. Avoid adlibbing in Bible interpretation. Avoid free wheeling in Bible interpretation. Haphazard handling of God's Word. "We all want to acknowledge the priesthood of the believer...yes, we all want to acknowledge that we have anointing from God, the Spirit of God who dwells within us and the Spirit of God who dwells within us is the teacher who teaches us. We all want to acknowledge that. But that is not justification for flippancy dealing with Scripture. That's why in 1 Timothy 5:17 it says, "The elders who work hard in the Scripture are worthy of double honor." It is hard work. Avoid superficial interpretation. Avoid "this means to me." That is not a statement that should preface any interpretation of Scripture. The question is, what does it mean if you don't exist? What did it mean before you were born? And what will mean it after you're dead? What does it mean to people who will never meet you? What does it mean period, is the issue." Hank: You write: How should I respond to this statement? Answer: The statement, 'Twas brillig and the blamfamings did frumiously outgrabe", is obviously nonsense. 4 | The origin of life | Genesis | Radioman | 34364
See Genesis chapters one and two for what the Bible says about the origin of life. The Bible says nothing about evolution. Does the Bible say that his creatures are permanent and can never change? Are you talking about evolution or adaptation within a species? Or are you referring to extinction? The Bible says nothing about the extinction of certain plants and animals. Yet we know that exctinction has occurred and does occur. The Bible does not say how old the planet earth is. |

6 | can courts give dealth penalty | Bible general Archive 1 | Radioman | 34361
Please list scriptures that say it is NOT ok for courts to impose the death penalty. Please show us a clear verse of scripture that says in plain and unambiguous language that God has banned the death penalty. The commandment against murder doesn't count. God never contradicts Himself and He Himself commands the death penalty for certain crimes. |

7 | how can we loose our salvation. | NT general Archive 1 | Radioman | 34359
As to your full question, no one believes once saved always saved. The people who believe in Eternal INsecurity don't believe once saved always saved. The people who believe in Eternal Security normally do not phrase it as "once saved always saved." Most of the people who use the phrase are not advocates but opponents of "once saved always saved". Therefore, it can be said that virtually no one believes in once saved always saved. The idea that anyone believes in it is a myth. You know what a myth is. It's like saying that eternal life by definition is not temporary. That's a myth, according to some. ************* As to your short question, "how can we loose our salvation?", my answer is: I don't know. When you find out, please let me know, will you? |

Used For Glue: I am not a full believer in Used For Glue because I feel there is nothing, in my personal opinion, that proves Used For Glue is real. I read the question you posted to the forum and although I don't believe in you, I find the whole thing of Used for Glue and Anon. to be interesting. I do not understand how you can be considered a rebel at school when I have no evidence of your existence. Another thing I don't understand is, how can you say you are an atheist and then claim that God made cannabis? How could God make cannabis or anything else if he is not real? Finally, God made Used For Glue, and Used For Glue made up the theory of atheism. Who do I trust? If I knew for sure you existed, I would tell you. |

14 | What is God's teachings on military war? | Deut 7:2 | Radioman | 24388
What is God's teachings on military war? Military war is the worst kind. I am living proof that war is hazardous to one's health. I'd much rather be involved in a non-military war. coop1: On this particular thread, I count 27 postings by you. Is it anywhere in your nature to wind it up and stop torturing us with post after post after post, all saying the same thing? You made your point and said all you have to say about 25 posts ago. Are you going to make a career of posting anti-war statements? In all honesty and fairness, I can understand your concern for your son's safety. What parent wouldn't understand this? If I had a son in the military, I wouldn't want to see him in danger either. But, for starters, that's what the Army is all about. The Army doesn't exist so one can be all that he can be. It doesn't exist as a social experiment or to provide educational opportunities. Anyone who joins the Army should know that the purpose of the Army is to break things and kill people. May I point out to you that it is the very country whose freedoms you don't think worth fighting for that gives you the liberty of saying or publishing your opinion? This and other freedoms, of which you think so little, were bought and paid for by blood -- the blood of American veterans. I am not arguing the rightness or the wrongness of your opinion. But a) please don't try to pass off your opinion as absolute truth; and b) it's getting a bit wearisome. |

16 | Is God Right Handed? | John 4:24 | Radioman | 24263
Question: "Would it be safe to say or could it be proven to some degree that God himself is right handed?" Answer (short): No. Answer (full): The idea that God is right-handed is one of the top 1,000 weirdest ideas I've seen on the forum -- this week. I nominate this question for the coveted Panthera Leo Strang Award. First, God is Spirit (John 4:24). He is not body. He is Spirit. God does not have a physical body. Second, the right hand of God is a figure of speech. (Lookup "right hand" at the following website: http://bible.crosswalk.com/Dictionaries/BakersEvangelicalDictionary/) The next thing you know someone will be asking if God holds his toothbrush in his right hand. |

19 | How do we respond to war as Christians? | Deut 7:2 | Radioman | 23673
In my opinion, how we as Christians respond to war (for or against) is a matter of conscience -- each individual's conscience. Each man must decide for himself. Both proponents and opponents could support their views by quoting Scripture. And I'm sure someone could quote Scripture to "prove" I am wrong. :-) Well, that's what this forum is all about, isn't it? |
