1 | death ?????????????????? | Ecclesiastes | REVbuff | 20869 | ||
See Eccles. 3:20, 12:7, 'Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was, and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it.' So, the body is buried and decays away in the grave, but the breath of its life goes back to God who gave it. In the resurrection of the dead in Christ, the spirit is returned to the resurrected body, is "changed" to a new form, and, we may suppose joined together, the new body with its spirit lives for ever more! |

When you are baptized (by full immersion) into the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, you are given the earnest [Greek: arrabona; a "down payment"] of the Holy Spirit. This "earnest" is the "Comforter" (see John 14:16, 14:26, 15:26, and 16:7) -- the Comforter is the "spirit of truth" (see John 14:17, 15:26, 16:13, and I John 4:6) -- which the Lord promised to send, after his ascension into the heavens, to all who believe in him, in order to guide them in their Christian walk. Study these verses in their context about the "earnest": 2 Cor. 1:22 - 2 Cor. 5:5 - Eph. 1:14. When the Lord comes again - at his 2nd coming - all those who have believed in his name will receive the "full payment" of the Holy Spirit, and will be transformed into the glory which Jesus has now and which he will share with the believer in him! |
