JVH0212, Judging from the Bible text, I infer that you are asking about challenges to 'foolish and ignorant speculations.' I suppose that ideally we are to not involve ourselves with such. That would rather take the fun out things, don't you think? I we all ignored comments that seemed foolish, there would be little to talk about. Is it fair? "All's fair in love, war, and forums." (apologies to John Lyly) Praise the Lord! |

Hank, I am in agreement with you, sir! Leave Philosophy Level 1 to the college campus, and Denominational Theology (all levels) to the seminaries. Leave intolerance and prejudice in your parlor or perhaps the meeting hall of your own church. The Holy Word of God is indeed to be discussed in divers ways, but we should be mindful of the venue. To portray division, disharmony, and unyielding opinion in a public Study Bible Forum is inappropriate and does not edify the Lord or the participants. Also, philosophical conundrum are without merit here. At least in a formal debate there is a time restraint, and worthless verbiage would be disqualified, and repetition would meet with indignation by friend and foe alike. Let us attempt to stay within the guidelines set by our sponsors, and all will benefit. Those with a different ideal should keep searching elsewhere. Praise the Lord! |

3 | Did you have a particular source? | Mark 10:25 | Percival | 6437
Tim, Your tongue-in-cheek is great! (be it intentional or not) I get your 'point' about needles being needles. Praise the Lord! |

4 | Christ dying only for elect? | Rom 5:6 | Percival | 6427
Finally, the discussion between the disciples of Calvin and the disciples of Arminus erupts into the familiar lines of bigotry. Calvinists have well proved the utter depravity of man, and the doctrine of exclusion, excuse me, election. A single avowed Arminist has allowed free will to run amok. But the valiant defenders of their faith held their ground and gouged an eye for an eye. Now, even so, the revelation to that famous heretic, Martin Luther, is given to us, "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God." (Ephesians 2:8) It is good to know that this verse applies even to extremists and self-righteous saints. "Let not then your good be evil spoken of." (Romans 14:16) Have you all been sleeping well? Praise the Lord! |
