1 | FIRST MAN TO OFFER FORGIVENESS | Gen 33:4 | Loretta06 | 180490
Gen 33: 4,11 4. But Esau ran to meet Jacob and embraced him; he threw his arms around his neck and kissed him. And they wept. 11. Please accept the present that was brought to you, for God has been gracious to me and I have all I need." And because Jacob insisted, Esau accepted it. |

2 | from romans 6 12-14 two examples of sin | Rom 6:12 | Loretta06 | 180283
Someone mentioned 1 Cor 6:18. We learn that sexual sins are sins of the body. (I happened to read this verse a minute ago on another post)."Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a man commits are outside his body, but he who sins sexually sins against his own body." - 1 Cor 6:18. "Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry." -Col 3:5 "The acts of the sinful nature are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery;" -Gal 5:19 These are examples. By prayer and God's help and support from friends you will be able to recognize a temptation, and say that small simple word: "NO!" My guess about what the Bible says about "How to offer my body (temple) to God:" "Don't you know that you yourselves are God's temple and that God's Spirit lives in you? If anyone destroys God's temple, God will destroy him; for God's temple is sacred, and you are that temple." - 1 Cor 3:16,17. Therefore protect your body from shame and damage (thereby protecting what God created)? "What agreement is there between the temple of God and idols? For we are the temple of the living God. As God has said: "I will live with them and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they will be my people." - 2 Cor 6:16. I don't know if this is realated, but can you "offer your body" by being near God? When you go about your tasks and people see you... do they want to sin... or follow God- when they hear, see, or follow as you do...? Basically, how can you LOOK/ACT like a Christian? "In him the whole building is joined together and rises to become a holy temple in the Lord." -Eph 2:21. Can you "offer your body to God" by attending church? This is a place where a united congregation praises, prays, learns and is warned by God and thanks God. PS. Please, Someone correct me if you think so! Are these verses out of context? Are they talking more about protecting the Holy Spirit, then about "offering"/protecting your body? |

3 | what does it mean to take oup your cross | Bible general Archive 3 | Loretta06 | 180188
This quote isn't complete. It's about 'Taking up your cross,' but ALSO, 'following God.' Jesus said to someone, "take up your cross and follow me." (...I'll have to look up where that is:) ) A person who has a big cross in both arms is a person who has decided to take the big burden somewhere important. I think if you carry a cross, it's a bit like carrying a bible in your hand and having the words to say to people who are questioning, doubting or sinning. This sort of person takes his burden everywhere, but sometimes leaves it at the entrance of the building (like work, the pub, the casino, the mall, or the grocery store, etc). And when the cross is dropped, so is the Bible and the desire to do what God wants/is right. I believe that when you follow God you have that cross in your arms. And like the poem of the foot-prints, I think God takes our cross in His arms either most or all of time in order that we may spread the gospel, do right, and continue to be near Him. After all, its when we are near God, or reading his Word, we discover really how amazing God is. A person with a cross has a goal of bringing that cross somewhere-of walking with it for God and near God. After all, who would carry a burden for no reason at all? |
