1 | Is it God speaking?? | James 1:5 | Lissamz | 213353
I have read all of your discourses and I truly appreciate them. God bless and lead in His way He has for you. I still need clarification. My close friend brought up Is. 30:21 which says "Your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, “ This is the way, walk in it,” Whenever you turn to the right hand Or whenever you turn to the left." (NKJV) She says that there is Scriptural basis for "hearing" from God and that if I'm not "hearing this word behind me" the problem is me spiritually. She said that I must continue to ask the Lord for help in this area. How do I answer a Scripture reference? Am I just too "simple" or is there more that I need to know from the Lord? |

2 | Is it God speaking?? | James 1:5 | Lissamz | 213320
I was listening to some worship music and discovered this song on one of my new cds. It's by J. Moss and it is ministering to my situation. I guess God does speak to me in His own special way of relating to me as His individual child. Here are the lyrics...I hope they bless you as much as they blessed me this evening... VERSE 1: Sometimes it makes you wanna cry aloud Sometimes it makes you wanna scream and shout Sometimes you feel like it's unbearable Sometimes the pain is so incredible (Why) Do I feel the way I feel being a Christian and all (it's not suppose to be this way) But who said that it was gonna be easy (nobody) Do I have enough in me CHORUS: How do I feel like holding on How do I feel How do I feel like being strong How do I feel How do I feel like praying on How do I feel How do I feel like pressing on And the answer is JESUS My potion JESUS My covering JESUS My maker JESUS Check it out VERSE 2: Sometimes it's someone that you really love Sometimes they don't know that they've lost your trust Sometimes your heart will last, can't stop beating (thump thump.thump) Anybody ever felt like that (Why) Do I feel the way I do being a Christian and all (it's not suppose to be this way) But who said that the walk would be easy (nobody) Do I have enough in me CHORUS: How do I feel like holding on How do I feel How do I feel like being strong How do I feel How do I feel like praying on How do I feel How do I feel like pressing on How do I feel CHORUS: How do I feel like holding on How do I feel How do I feel like being strong How do I feel How do I feel like praying on How do I feel How do I feel like pressing on And the answer is (JESUS) My Savior (JESUS) The calm in the midst of the storm (JESUS) My Strength and my recourse (JESUS) Everything I need, everything I am (JESUS) The way, the truth and the light (JESUS) Healed by his stripes (JESUS) Deliverer to abundant life (JESUS)) You ought to call him for yourself (JESUS) He's a way out of no way (JESUS) When nothing else could help its (JESUS) When there's no one to talk to (JESUS) |

3 | Believers and "Alternative" Spirituality | Phil 4:9 | Lissamz | 147060
Greetings Brother, I am so saddened to hear about your situation and will offer prayer for you and your wife. I would simply ask her one question (and make sure she knows how serious you are): What do you need or require that the Lord God Almighty cannot supply? I would ask her to answer also as seriously as possible. (I am banking on the fact of your intimacy with her as your wife.) Some Scriptures you can refer her to are: Phil. 4:9 "And my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus." Is. 59:1 "Behold, the LORD'S hand is not so short, that it cannot save; Nor is His ear so dull, that it cannot hear." Luke 18:27 "..."The things that are impossible with people are possible with God." Try to lead her to the Lord's complete and total sufficience. I am a female and know that we have to be sorta approached from the sensitive end and in a way that we feel we are being listened to. Maybe, she will 'talk' herself out of whatever she is searching for outside of the Lord and find herself being led back to Him. God bless you and comfort you through this and give you all understanding and wisdom in this situation. hidden in Christ, Lissa |

4 | Trying to find verse about dying young. | Eccl 7:13 | Lissamz | 146878
Hello Saint, Maybe this is what you are looking for? If not, I hope you find it or someone else can help you with your search. Wonderful Resurrection Day to you, too. He is alive forevermore!! "Consider what God has done: Who can straighten what he has made crooked? When times are good, be happy; but when times are bad, consider: God has made the one as well as the other. Therefore, a man cannot discover anything about his future. In this meaningless life of mine I have seen both of these: a righteous man perishing in his righteousness, and a wicked man living long in his wickedness." -Ecc. 7:13-15 |

5 | Was this passage fulfilled B4 Christ? | Ex 23:25 | Lissamz | 146836
Sure Searcher!! Esther- The book is overall about God's provision for His people even in great time of affliction and persecution (Heb 4:14-16)...Also, it points to delieverance from death, but the humble act of a simple, humble orphan girl, even if it meant her death (Phil. 1:18-20; Phil. 2:8).. Job- The LORD was with Him through His suffering and used Job's suffering as a testimony to His grace (Rom. 9:22-24)...Also, it shows us the attitude that we should have when in trials and sufferings (1 Pet. 1:4-7,)... P.S. God's grace is seen all throughout the Bible, but as I hope you know was fully shown through His sending of the Lord Jesus through which came salvtion, eternal life, and forgiveness of sins. Hallelujah! I pity you if the only way you can see Jesus in the Bible is if it is a direct prophecy to His Person...Because the Bible 'as a whole' is filled with an image of Him. hidden in Christ, Lissa |

6 | Lissa, which promise(s) do you mean? | Ex 23:25 | Lissamz | 146780
Greetings Searcher56, I'm asking if the promises of the OT, can be taken for believers today, in the sense that Jesus fulfilled the promises of the OT...And the OT promises were seen as a foreshadow to the actual promise of the Messiah who would in turn fulfill all the OT 'references.' Heb. 1:1-3 "God, after He spoke long ago to the fathers in the prophets in many portions and in many ways, in these last days has spoken to us in His Son, whom He appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the world. And He is the radiance of His glory and the exact representation of His nature, and upholds all things by the word of His power When He had made purification of sins, He sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high..." I would also site Heb. 4 and Jesus last utterance on the Cross "...It is finished..." Jn. 19:30 I had stated that I had not read the entire thread, but I see the OT's promises being fulfilled in the life, ministry, death, and (Praise the LORD!) resurrection of the Lord Jesus. Thereby making the promises of the OT not necc. "physically or tangibly" (such as land or victorious battles), but "spiritually" (such as seeing the land of Egypt as the place of bondage we were in before we were saved by the Lord or the victorious battles that we when over sin in our life under guidance and help of the Holy Spirit) promises that we can see in the foreshadow and light of what Jesus did on Calvary for us and the power of the Holy Spirit indweeling us as believers. Hope that sums it up with clarity...If it doesn't though, please reply or if you have another view on this I would also be willing to listen! hidden in Christ, Lissa |

7 | Mitch, How is this promise for you (all) | Ex 23:25 | Lissamz | 146668
Hello Saints, I only saw this question presented about the Promised Land (I didn't review the entire thread). But I would like to refer to Josh. 1:13- "Remember the word which Moses the servant of the LORD commanded you, saying, 'The LORD your God gives you rest and will give you this land.'... Isn't the promise of the Promised Land linked to the rest that we now have in Christ... Hebrews 4:1-3- Therefore, let us fear if, while a promise remains of entering His rest, any one of you may seem to have come short of it. For indeed we have had good news preached to us, just as they also; but the word they heard did not profit them, because it was not united by faith in those who heard. For we who have believed enter that rest, just as He has said, "AS I SWORE IN MY WRATH,THEY SHALL NOT ENTER MY REST," although His works were finished from the foundation of the world. Wasn't the Promised Land a foreshadow of the rest that we receive through Christ through faith? Also, Hebrews 4:8-11- For if Joshua had given them rest, He would not have spoken of another day after that. So there remains a Sabbath rest for the people of God. For the one who has entered His rest has himself also rested from his works, as God did from His. Therefore let us be diligent to enter that rest, so that no one will fall, through following the same example of disobedience. So, can't this promise actually still be for we believer's today in this sense?? hidden in Christ, Lissa |

8 | What is true worship? | John 4:23 | Lissamz | 137381
Greetings adeakin, Ps 51:16-17 reads "For thou desirest not sacrifice; else would I give [it]: thou delightest not in burnt offering. The sacrifices of God [are] a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise." Ps 24:3-6 says "Who shall ascend into the hill of the LORD? or who shall stand in his holy place? He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart; who hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully. He shall receive the blessing from the LORD, and righteousness from the God of his salvation. This [is] the generation of them that seek him, that seek thy face, O Jacob. Selah." I'm pointing out these Scriptures, because they are the true definition of worship according to the Word of God. Going to church on Sunday is not worship, or singing religious songs, God wants the heart and when we are worshiping God with ALL of our hearts, minds, and souls- then we enter into true worship. Rev. 4:9-11 "And when those beasts give glory and honour and thanks to him that sat on the throne, who liveth for ever and ever, The four and twenty elders fall down before him that sat on the throne, and worship him that liveth for ever and ever, and cast their crowns before the throne, saying, Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created." Is 6:2-3 "Above it stood the seraphims: each one had six wings; with twain he covered his face, and with twain he covered his feet, and with twain he did fly. And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, [is] the LORD of hosts: the whole earth [is] full of his glory." These passages show the reverence and awe of the worship of the Holy One. Finally, what is not true worship? Matt 15:8-9 tells us " This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with [their] lips; but their heart is far from me. But in vain they do worship me, teaching [for] doctrines the commandments of men." And I must say I absolutely cling to this Scripture at times. Using it to examine my own heart, that my worship would not be vain, but acceptable and a pleasing sacrifice offered to the Lord. And lastly, a small note, I've "heard" people that have a strict set of "rules" that they believe should govern corporate worship- no music, no dancing, no clapping, no shouting and such. And I've always wondered what they are going to do when they get to heaven and the clappers, shouters, dancers, and musical instrumentalist are right there along with them praising the Lord!! If the worship is from the heart, God knows, for He knows all "for the Father seeketh such to worship him." (John 4:23) So, it's the heart the Lord is looking for. Just read His Word and He tells you so. God Bless and keep you. hidden in Christ, Lissa |

9 | to serve god | Matthew | Lissamz | 136914
In John 4:23 Jesus says (But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth, for the Father is seeking such to worship Him.) About service, I think that the greatest service we can do as Christians is to worship God (and I'm not talking about church services!) Worship of the One True God to me means EVERYTHING I do, say, think should be an active worship of God. By this, give glory, honor, and credit to God. There are numerous passages in the Bible of how we can serve God, but I would definitely refer to Isaiah 1:16-17 and Psalm 51:17- these passages refer to active worship (which, like I said before I equate with service) and not the worship that we would like to DO all the time. Why?? Because God wants the heart. Not the outward appearance of "service" or "worship", but the true, spiritual worship or service that comes from loving Him with all of our hearts, with all of our soul, and all of our mind, because this is the first and greatest commandment. (Matt 22:37-38) So, for your answer- to serve God is to worship Him, with every single ounce and fiber of our being, because even in our creation, we were created for this purpose and from true worship flows perfect, acceptable service. Felix T, From what I understand, there was three- Jn 2:23, Jn 6:4, Jn 12:1 (which of course was His last Passover during His ministry). hopefully, someone else can find them in the other Gospels for you, but I knew about the ones in John. hidden in Christ, Lissa |

11 | woman pastors | Matt 14:30 | Lissamz | 136910
1 Cor. 13:34 reads "The women are to keep silent in the churches; for they are not permitted to speak, but are to subject themselves, just as the Law also says." I've always taken this to mean that men do have the primary position in leadership of the gathering body of believers. On the other hand, I do strongly believe that women can and should teach Bible studies for themselves (other women) and children. But as far as women pastors, bishops, or sheperds of the "entire" flock. I must say that I have to reject on the basis of the Scripture above. hidden in Christ, Lissa |

12 | What is worship, according to the Bible? | John 4:24 | Lissamz | 135614
I know this is a little late. Like 2 years late!!But, I believe from the Word of God that acceptable worship (because there are many unacceptable ways of worship!!) is found in Psalm 24:3-6. The outward display of worship is second to the internal, the outward should be a reflection of the internal. Another good verse is also in Psalm 51:16-17. And lastly, the perfect example, Rev. 4:5-11. Hope these helped before it was too late, but then again the Word of God is always right on time! Hosanna!
