Name is onoma in Greek (strong's #3686), meaning name, authority, character. "in the Name of Jesus" mean in the name, authority , and character of Jesus." We use His name because His name is above every name Philippians 2:9-11 We pray in His authority John 16:24 We ask what ours in His name, or authority. Pentecost mean fifty in Greek. Both verses was celebrated on the fiftieth day. It was prophecy "The Father... will give you another Counsler." (John 14:16, 23; 16: 7) It was fulfilled in scripture. Pentecost (Act 2:1-4) The difference was: The Old Testement Pentecost vs. New Testament Pentecost. The Ten Commandments on tables of stone vs. Commandants of love written on the hearts and mind. Written by the finger of God vs. Written by the Spirit of God. 3000 people died during the Passover vs. 3000 peple got save in Acts 2:41 Veiled face so people could not behold the golry vs. The veil is no more. Glory to be done away vs. Glory remains. 'Glory' is the manifestation of God's presence. The same glory that was on Moses is in us. Galatians 5:1: we have been given freedom, not condemnation. |

Pentecost means fifty in Greek. It's the Feast of Weeks, or the Feast of Harvest, which is held the fiftieth day after the Feast of Unleavened Bread during the Passsover celebration. Leviticus 23: 15-17 Pentecost was the celebration of the harvest. 2 Corinthians 3:1-18: Old and New Testament Pentecost In Acts 2 was not the first Pentcost. The first was the Passover. Jesus was the Passover Lamb. 50 days later is when the Law was giving to Moses. In Exodus 23: 14-16: God commanded them to keep the Passover, Pentecost and the Feast of Ingathering (Tabernacles). |
