1 | Why can God kill when he tells us not to | Bible general Archive 1 | Kyblue | 36025
That is a wonderful question that causes one to think outside of our "world" and to try to understand God's plan. God loves us and although He has made our bodies "temporal" He made our souls "eternal". For Him to "kill" us, or I would rather put it, "for us to die", is for us to be with the Lord. For Christians, to be absent from the body is to be with the Lord. For those who have not accepted Jesus, to be absent from the body is to be in "hades". Paul talked about this "absence" pertaining to Christians in 2 Cor. 5:6-8 where he wrote, "Therefore, being always of good courage, and knowing that while we are at home in the body we are absent from the Lord— [7] for we walk by faith, not by sight— [8] we are of good courage, I say, and prefer rather to be absent from the body and to be at home with the Lord." The world has taught us that death is bad and to die is a terrible thing. It is for some! Although the pain of losing a friend or love one hurts tremendously, we as Christians should be joyous in the "death" of another Christian because those who die "in the Lord" will be with the Lord after their death from this world. What a wonderful thought! However, for those who do not know the Lord, death is a terrible thing! God made us. He gave us our souls. In Genesis he "breathed" into our bodies to give us life. He has every right to take us out of this world. If a person writes a book doesn't he or she want all rights to the book that they created? The same is with God - we are copyrighted to Him! He can take us off the shelf or decide to write another chapter. But, we have a choice to be ready for when He takes us from this world. If we trust in Jesus and place Him first in our lives, we can be ready for the glorious day when our God takes us from these "temporary" bodies and places us eternally with Him in Heaven. Take heed in what Jesus said in Revelations 22:12 "Behold, I am coming quickly, and my reward is with Me, to render to every man according to what he has done." Lastly, killing is a sin for us humans. In Christ's Love, bill |

2 | Should we Divorce? | Mal 2:16 | Kyblue | 31901
Dear Price, Many have answered your question on why God does not like divorce so I will not restate that truth. Although this may not be the total answer, I will recommend a wonderful book that was recommended to me: "The Five Love Languages". You can pick it up at nearly every Christian Bookstore, and/or probably at a Barnes and Noble or Borders. It is a very simple book that may help alleviate some of your troubles, as I have found it very helpful and a rewarding read! God Bless. |
