2 | what are storehouse?can you divide tithe | Malachi | Kelkat | 37717
I was wondering this myself, so I used a concordance to look up the word tithe in scripture. It is my understanding that the tithe (or 10 percent) is to go to the priests (pastors, ministers...in most cases this is the church). The poor, the widows and orphans, etc... are to be cared for with alms or offerings. Always check out scripture for yourself, though. :) Kelkat |

3 | Can a woman pastor a church? | 1 Tim 3:1 | Kelkat | 17957
Prayon gave a wonderful overview of what Paul was saying in "Woman in Ministry on 07/14/01". You might search for that post. As for me, I don't think women were ever intended not to be deacons. The word minister, deacon, and servant (as Paul uses to reference several women in the new testament) all come from the same greek word. I truly think that Paul required the husband and wife to be of the same character and to serve. In order to be in unity with God, we have to be in unity with one another. Does that help any? Kelkat |

4 | Should this be taken only personally? | Matt 6:33 | Kelkat | 17305
My personal opinion is that it should all be one in the same. If we are being obedient to God, whether as individuals or as a body, we will do it all. The key lies in obedience. Kelkat |

5 | When may a church compromise the Bible? | Hebrews | Kelkat | 17229
Jensen, if I may be so bold, I would recommend you catching some of the televised broadcasts of Kenneth Copeland, Creflo Dollar, Joyce Meyers, or James Kennedy. Or the radio shows of Focus on the Family. They are all great teachers, and motivators. With love, Kelkat |

6 | When may a church compromise the Bible? | Hebrews | Kelkat | 17227
Ideally, no. But then, ideally neither should we. No church is perfect. Hopefully they are all striving to be, though. :) I am part of a church that is speeding away from the will of God. I know it. God has shown it to me. And as much as I would like to, I can't get them going straight. But He has led me to this church for purpose. My part is to pray, and to encourage, to lift up the body. And to trust Him to take care of everything else. That is what finding a church is about. Knowing where God needs you and why. There is only one place, or book, to find that answer. Remember though, pastors, priest, preachers, deacons, sunday school teachers, they are all people. Don't lift them up. They are no different than you are me. Listen to them, but never just take their word for it. Get in the bible, see for yourself. Learn to ask God, and to look for an answer. Kelkat |

7 | When God directs..is it always perfect? | Gal 5:22 | Kelkat | 17225
I have found in my own life that the best gauge is joy and peace. When I wake up with God on my mind and I go to sleep with God on my mind, then I know that I am in focus. When I am in focus, seeking to know God, then He shows me where He wants me. Granted, it may seem "crazy" in the world standards. But God has never failed me. And I have discovered that He knows me better than I know myself. The key to knowing God's will for your life is knowing God, and the key to knowing God is knowing His word, and the key to knowing His word is spending time in it everyday. Keep it in your eyes, your ears, and your heart. Kelkat |

8 | Christian-alcohol and smoking is it ok? | 1 Tim 5:23 | Kelkat | 17223
God created everything on earth for our use. Sugar, Chocolate, Tobacco, alcohol. Everything is okay, but not everything is benificial. You have to keep in mind, not only yourself, but those around you. If you cause your brother to stumble, you will be held accountable. If you are asking for yourself, take it to God. As you grow in Him, He will let you know what is okay, and when. If it is about others, then I suggest you take it to God. He has taught me that what others do is not something I can change. I can only live my life as a light for them. Hope this helps. Kelkat |

9 | Please explain Mark 2:20-22. | Mark 2:20 | Kelkat | 17220
Let's look at is as though we are the bride. The Bridegroom comes and makes "payment" for us. Then he goes away to prepare a place for us. While he is away, we make ready . . . preparing ourselves for his return. Does that help any? Kelkat |

11 | To judge or not to judge? | Luke 6:37 | Kelkat | 15592
The Hebrew dictionary defines the word "judge" in Luke as condemn or sentence. It defines the word "judgeth" in 1 Cor 2:15 as scrutinize. Does that help? |

12 | Can it really be translated otherwise? | 2 Sam 12:11 | Kelkat | 15537
My only reasoning behind my theory is another verse I resently studied. 1 Tim 3:11 (KJV)"Even so must their wives be grave, not slanderers, sober, faithful in all things." From what I could get from my Hewbrew dictionary, "Even so" means "in the same way" and there is no "must" or "their". "Wives" is "women, particularly married women"...so "In the same way, women. Be grave, not slanderers, sober, faithful in all things." It doesn't read very well. And I was just thinking that it might have been the same situation in 2 Sam 12:11 I took German in college, I am far from fluent. Even with the help of tutors, I could not write a sentence in German. The verbs were in different places than in English, and it just didn't seem to flow...ya know what I mean. It was just a thought that maybe the same was true of Hebrew. Don't get me wrong, I have no doubt that God can do what ever He wants, whenever He wants. I just think sometimes He gets way too much credit when He shouldn't, and none when He should. Kelkat |

13 | Doesn't it say that God would cause evil | 2 Sam 12:11 | Kelkat | 15393
The term "I will" is not translateable from Hebrew to English. That is to say that Strong's Concordance has no Hebrew word for either I or will. If you have ever taken a foreign language, you know that it never translates exactly and it is ofter grammatically difficult to read. Translaters often make the reading easier while trying to stay true to the text. That is one reason you have so many tranlations. My thought is that God is not saying He will do it, but that it will be done. Kelkat |

14 | How do I study the bible? | Bible general Archive 1 | Kelkat | 15390
I was in a christian book store one day and found a workbook that had a daily guide for bible study. I soon came to understand that there are many of these kinds of studies. While most of them were designed for small groups, I have found that they are great at keeping me on track. "Experiencing God" by Henry Blackaby; "MasterLife" by Willis; "Following God" by AMG Publishers; and "Living Beyond Yourself" by Beth Moore are all part of my collection. I also write my answers in a spiral notebook. That way I can repeat the study down the road. Hope this helps some.
15 | should you tithe | Malachi | Kelkat | 15244
Yes, you should tithe the "first fruits" of all you have...time, possesions, abilities, etc. But don't think of it as giving God from yours, think of it as giving to God of God's to show your love and respect for Him.
