4 | If God knows all,why create the universe | Deut 29:29 | Jr.Asparagus | 105515
1. There are lots of things I don't need but many things I desire. Perhaps God created the universe out of desire i.e., love for His people. I certainly get enjoyment looking at the various stars etc. and I get a sense of awe regarding God's skill and wisdom he used to create the universe. A question for you: Why have children if you know they will die someday and possibly be subject to eternal suffering? You really don't need them. 2. I am reasonably sure that a Holy God does not enjoy suffering and yet; suffering is at the core of His redemptive plan. If a Holy God does not apply justice for sin then, He ceases to be Holy. IMO, the ultimate and essence of selfishness is demonstrated by sinning and requires a Holy God to act and meet His own demand for justice. It would be selfish if there was no redemptive remedy. Interesting question. |

5 | What is Ecclesiastes in general? | Ecclesiastes | Jr.Asparagus | 105448
The key theme of Ecclesiastes is wisdom with, IMO, Chap. 12:13 (cf. Exodus 1:7;Job 28:28;Psalm 1:1-3;Proverbs 1:7;8:13 etc.) as the key verse. A truly wise person is one who obeys God by keeping His commandments thus, fears God. I think Ecclesiastes is best understood in the context of other biblical wisdom books that express the same theme..."the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom." |
