1 | what was jesus's occupation | NT general | Jesusman | 199798
Greetings, Given that Joseph, the man who raised Jesus, was a carpenter, it would be safe to assume that Jesus was originally trained to be a carpenter. Given that Jesus often use construction terms in many of his messages, it can be safe to assume that Jesus at some point in his life relied on Carpentry as his occupation. Jesusman |

2 | Please help! | Exodus | Jesusman | 199785
Greetings, This commandment is referring to worshipping and praying to the images as if they were gods. Enjoying a computer game isn't the same. Now, if you worshipped World of Warcraft, and such, then yes it would be wrong. However, simply enjoying the game and playing it, is quite alright. I also enjoy playing WoW as well as Star Wars Galaxies and several other games. Its an enjoyable pass time. As long as it remains such, and doesn't become more important to you than God, then there shouldn't be any concerns. Jesusman |

3 | Dissapointment in this sites response... | Ps 16:11 | Jesusman | 199770
Greetings, Sex in any form is still sex. Be it for mating purposes, pleasure, anal sex, or oral sex. Sex is naturally intended for mating purposes as well as pleasure and intimacy between a husband and a wife. Your mouth was not intended to be an orifice for sexual gratification. It could be viewed as an unnatural use of the body. With that clarification in mind, Romans chapter one does provide the insight you might be searching for. It speaks about those who are sinful turning away from the natural uses of their body and began practicing sexual acts that were unnatural. This is specified as homosexuality and lesbianism, but could also include oral sex. Aside from that passage in Romans 1:18-32, I don't know about any other passage in the Bible that could be in reference to oral sex as being wrong or not. Even then, it would be dependant upon how you clarified oral sex. In anycase, sex in any form would be concidered immoral if it is with any partner that is not your spouse. Jesusman |

Greetings, The 144,000 that are described in Revelation are all jewish. 12,000 from each of the 12 tribes of Israel. It's clearly described by John as being Jews, not gentiles. Jesusman |

5 | Why are the lists of the 12 apostles dif | NT general | Jesusman | 199404
Greetings, This can be easily explained by the fact that not everyone will know a person by a single name. To my friends, I am Bruce. Online, I am Jesusman. To my dad, I am skipper. To my mom, I was Bo pat. To those I know only via business, I am Mr. Richards. Take Bartholemew for example. He was also called Nathaniel. Paul was also known as Saul. Peter was also known as Simon. So .. the differences in the listings are simply put that they are known by a different name. Jesusman |

6 | sharing our faith to unbelievers so hard | 1 Cor 1:18 | Jesusman | 199402
Greetings, It's ironic that someone posted this type of question. Cause I'm going to be giving a lesson on witnessing at a local Bible bookstore on friday. There are many mistakes that the average christian does while witnessing that will unknowingly push away a non-believer. The most common is simply not being able to answer their questions. I have come across alot of unbelievers who present these so called "contraditions", many of which can be explained by simply reading the context of the passage. The first thing every christian should learn to do, is not simply read the Bible, but to read and study in the context of scripture. Context is king. The second mistake often made is using what I call "churchese" language. The unbeliever won't understand "Take Jesus into your heart" or "Sinners will go to hell". Instead, try to filter out this form of speech and use secular terms where possible. The third common mistake is to assume that terms mean the same thing for everyone. Just because a person says they are a christian does not mean they have a saving faith in Christ, but rather they are not buddist, jewish, nor muslim. Going to a christian church no more makes you a christian than walking into a garage makes you a chevy. Finally, the average christian doesn't research biblical history. The Bible makes many bold claims of historical, and scientific importance that have been proven true over and over again. Knowing some of these will help shed doubt on the secular claims that the bible is nothing more than a book of myth. Supporting the idea that the Bible is true historically and scientifically will aid in supporting it spiritually. Jesusman |

9 | why do singles think they need a mate? | 1 Cor 7:32 | Jesusman | 199196
As a single man and preacher in search of a church, I have come across a misunderstanding that preachers must be the husband of one wife .. they can't be single, or remarried .. and if you are single, they try and marry you off. You find this a common thought in some small baptist churches. Jesusman |

10 | who is the angel in rev.10/1 | Revelation | Jesusman | 199181
Hmmm .. the strong angel? He's a 10/8 Silver brigade hero with the special ability of negating all special abilities on all nonwarrior class characters and nonweapon class enhancements. He was first released with the warriors set of Redemption and later with the Kings set of Redemption. Now .. as for this passage, he's prolly the same one Mentioned in Rev. 5:2. Jesusman |

11 | Why do people say this when in all actua | Bible general Archive 4 | Jesusman | 199118
How do you explain John chapter 3? The statement that Jesus was sent to preach the Word is self defeating. John chapter 1 tells us that the "Word" is Jesus himself. Are you saying that Jesus was sent to preach about himself? Also, what does the "Word" or the "Gospel" include? It includes the events leading up to and including the Death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ as well as the motivation behind it, hence for Jesus to die for our Sins. Now, back to my initial question. John chapter 3, specifically verses 16 - 18, comes right out and tells us that the purpose behind Jesus coming was to save the world. Now, for your last comment/question about God not truly sending anyone to die for our sins. I refer you to the Gospel according to Matthew, chapter 16, verses 21 - 23. Jesus foretells his death. Peter opens his mouth and says "God forbid it, Lord! This shall never happen to you!" Jesus replies back, and rebukes Peter by saying "Get behind me, Satan." Such talk about Jesus not coming from God, or coming to save our sins, but coming for other purposes are nothing more than Satan trying to decieve. In closing, I refer you to 1 John, chapter 4. To sum up this passage, Don't believe everything you come across, hear, or read, or are told by those claiming to be from God. Instead, John tells us to put those claims to the test. That test is to compare what they teach about Jesus to the written Word. If they confess Jesus as being sent from God, and sens to be the payment of our sins, then they are from God. Those sent by God will teach and live and work through Love, because God is the originator of Love. Jesus coming to us, in the flesh, was because of God's Love. Jesus Loves you. Jesusman |

12 | Why translations use LORD not Yahweh? | Ex 3:15 | Jesusman | 198608
Greetings, So far, the others who have answered have given you accurate information about YHVH being used with the vowels of Adonai and so forth. However, there is a part that they haven't really touched on. YHVH is the holy name of God in Jewish tradition. To even speak, write, or utter that holy name was seen as Blasphemous. So, the term "Adonai" was used. Even when transcribing the text onto new scrolls, Adonai was usually the chosen substatute. As a result of this, and the nature of the Jewish language, no one knows what the true vowels for YHVH should be. The vowels for Adonai that are attributed to YHVH grammarically don't fit. Now, because of the limitations of the English language, A distinction needed to be made between Adonai and YHVH, as well as other terms for God such as Elohim, El, and so forth. All of which can be translated as "lord". The Solution was to capitalize certain letters. So, that's why "LORD" is the english translation of YHVH, and "Lord" is the english translation of Adonai. Jesus Loves you. Jesusman |

13 | Do I still want to belong scripture back | 2 Tim 2:15 | Jesusman | 198450
There's an old preacher's story about turning the other cheek. A champion boxer once retired and became a minister. He worked for years in the church, helping peopl in his neighborhood, in his church, and spreading the word of God. Instead of the fierce boxer that he had been known for, this preacher had become known to be a gentle and compassionate man. One day he is walking home when two thugs stop him and try to mug him. One thug slugs the Preacher. He turns his head and offers them the other one, and the other thug slugs him there. This preacher then crackles his knuckles, doubles up his fists and speaks. "The Good Lord told us to turn the other cheek, but he didn't say to do it twice." While that may not be what you're wanting, it does convey what I'm trying to say. That is that turning the other cheek can only go so far before you have nothing more than sore cheeks. At some point, action needs to be taken. I would remind your friend of Paul's advice to Timothy. Be diligent .. other translations say "study". In other words, don't give up. Follow the Word of God, study it, and present yourself as one being true to it. You won't have to be ashamed of anything. Others will try to put you down, ridicule you, and push you away. Let them. The one you need to turn to is Christ. You only need his acceptance. Jesusman |

15 | death and spirits | Bible general Archive 4 | Jesusman | 196425
Greetings, The teaching of soul sleep, that the soul is asleep in the grave until the coming of the Christ cannot be fully supported by the Bible. It's only true support is Jesus's comments while resurrecting Lazarus. The counters to this is the parable of the Rich man and Lazarus, who are both to be dead at the time and both in their respective places of the afterlife. Also you have Jesus's comments to the thief on the cross. "Today, you will be with me in paradise." He didn't say that he'll be with Jesus in a few hundred centuries after sleeping in the grave. As for life after death appearences to loved ones, There is some biblical support, but not much. One that comes to mind is Samuel's spirit being summoned. Also the appearences of Jesus. However, it's a controversal point. My personal take is that I don't reject it, but I don't support it either. When I read and hear about such events, I don't try to argue over it. jesusman |

16 | Explain Godhead Trinity? | Luke 3:22 | Jesusman | 196291
There are several ways to explain the Trinity and each one fails to accurately explain it 100 percent. Each of the member of the Godhead shares the same knowledge, power, ability, and authority. However, each member has a different function. The Father is the creator, and the judge. The Son is the savior, and husband of the Church. The Holy Spirit is the comforter and counsellor. Now .. All three are the same God. We serve one single God, not 3 of them. How such a union works is honestly beyond human understanding. All three members of the Godhead are one single God, yet all three are distinct from one another. The Closest I have ever come to explaining this is via looking at a corporate head. At the head of a corporation, you have the Chairman of the board. He doesn't deal with the day to day workings of the Company, but he is in most respects the owner. You have the CEO. He runs the Company, makes the business decisions and so forth. You also have the Chief of Operations. He makes sure the operational proceedures are running as they should. Together, these three make up the head of the company. However, each one is a separate entity within the Company. Now, there are obvious inconsistancies between comparing God to a Corporate head. However, no one can understand the nature and relationship of the Godhead 100 percent. I hope this helps, Jesusman |

18 | Rev 20:10 | NT general | Jesusman | 195751
Greetings, One thing you seem to overlook is that God isn't the one doing it. There won't be God or one of his angels with a demented look of enjoyment on his face sticking the Devil with a hot poker over and over behind iron bars. Those who are sent to hell aren't dragged their by the hairs on the head. God has provided a choice. Those who refuse to obey and love God deserve this. These aren't the misunderstood innocents who have been convicted by mistake. Those cast into the lake of fire will be evil, sinful, and those who hate God. How can I enjoy heaven when there will be people in the lake of fire? I will enjoy heaven very much, because I will know that I am safe from the evil and wicked. I will enjoy heaven because I won't have to worry about the evil and wicked. I will enjoy heaven because I will be in the presence of God. Remember, God isn't torturing them. They are torturing themselves. They chose to be separated from God. God is giving them exactly what they asked for. Jesusman. |
