1 | Do good deeds get you in heaven? | Rev 20:13 | Jesusfriend | 237053
Revelation 20:13 " And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works." This verse tells me that without good deeds we will not get to heaven. BUT! There are many verses that sound like we have to do nothing, and many take those verses out of context and falsely teach people that all you have to do is "call upon the name of the Lord and you are 'saved'". Sure that is a verse in the bible, but it is way out of context. We might not be "saved" by our works, but we sure could be lost without good works. Every man is judged according as his works shall be. |

2 | What about the promise? | Luke 12:24 | Jesusfriend | 237049
You might assume that personally, but if there are tribes of people, like say in Africa who depend on supplies of subsidized food from outside sources and warmongers intercept that food, why blame Jesus? Sin is still the culprit no matter how you slice it. look at how He fed Elijah in the wilderness, the ravens brought him food. I am sure that is not an isolated incident, many have similar stories to tell. Then again look at sodom and gomorrah. God sent fire and brimstone to kill all the inhabitants there so are all wars to be blamed on God? I believe that God will protect His own and supply their every need, BUT! when it comes to apostasy and outright immorality those people have changed masters and God will only protect those who seek Him or are heading that direction, only God knows. Christians are laid to rest while serving a purpose, AKA martyrdom. God will protect those who are doing His work, like Martin Luther, but others, who were martyred like John Hus did all they could and their death at that moment was more influential than the message he was giving. During those days when a Christian was martyred many joined the Christian ranks. God has plans that are so far above our reasoning. When God chooses to let people die, or even causes their death it is for His glory, not mine to speculate about. |

3 | Why does God allow world hunger? | Luke 12:24 | Jesusfriend | 237029
Your answer was the best that you could give on this subject. God has allowed satan to have power over man as a test, read Job. In Luke 10:18 we read: "And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven." and another verse in Revelation 12:7 "And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels,...12 Therefore rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time." Read the whole chapter of Revelation 12. The dragon is satan and the woman is the church good and bad. God cast satan to earth and gave him power as evidenced by the book of Job. Whether God "allows" world hunger is quite a stretch for me. He allowed the devil to come to earth to tempt man in order that man might be made stronger in Christ as we pray for strength to overcome the wiles of the foe. So I believe the devil is doing all he can to win souls for his kingdom too, including world hunger. AAMOF God doesn't allow these things, sin causes them. |

4 | Must a Christian attend church? | Heb 10:25 | Jesusfriend | 237019
Hebrews 10:25 tells us this, "Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching." Here is a good example of what Paul admonished the Hebrews to do, and although this includes attending church it also includes the fulfillment of Jesus promise found in Matthew 18:20 "For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them." Going to church is good and honorable, but when church tries to make the bible fit their denomination we need to find another church that makes the denomination fit the bible. Although personally I do not attend any formal worship service weekly, I assemble together having bible studies online, and whenever I get a chance any time any where. As for belonging to a denomination, the main focus should be "sola scriptura" the bible only. Any church tradition or dogma that twists God's word is something we should steer clear of. |

5 | Where dinosaurs before Biblical times? | Bible general Archive 4 | Jesusfriend | 237003
Through my studies of scripture and little knowledge of archeology I have reasoned through this using the 900 year life span principle. The earth before the flood was a wonder world. With the preflood fossils science has found that are quite larger than post flood fossils, one can only come to the conclusion that animals grew and grew for hundreds of years to amazing sizes. Even though Noah put two of every creature into the ark many of them were neuter young just to save space. After the flood many of the dinosaur species didn't grow as massive as they did preflood. The atmosphere was different, among many other factors involved. The bible does tell us that all living creatures were vegetarians before the flood. Genesis 1:29 "And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat. And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to every thing that creepeth upon the earth, wherein there is life, I have given every green herb for meat: and it was so." It was after the flood when God added animal flesh to the diet in Genesis 9:3 "Every moving thing that liveth shall be meat for you; even as the green herb have I given you all things." There is also leviathan and behemoth, found in the bible, which some consider to be dinosaurs. |
