1 | Worship service or performance? | John 4:24 | ItsMe | 163261
Well you have stirred up some interersting comments. One girlfriend told me she agreed. They believe in quiet in worship. She's a Quaker. Another co-worker said they rarely applaud BUT they don't exhibit those emotions in other places either - because there is no "sanctuary" - except our bodies. In her church it is the auditorium. She attends a Church of Christ. My dear friend, from Jamaica said - (a very reserved person) - oh my goodness yes - clap - sing, shout joyfully when you worship Him. (I don't know her church affiliation). So - I'm thinking it is up to us to worship Him and that as long as it is worship - we can be moved in different ways. I agree that many churches seem to be doing anything and everything to get people inside. I saw on TV recently that one church actually had a Starbucks in the outside area before entering the sanctuary/auditorium. (we don't allow food or drink in our main area of worship). I think many are catering to the people not the Creator. His Sevant... |

2 | Worship service or performance? | John 4:24 | ItsMe | 163256
Hm-m-m...sometimes I feel moved to applaud. I don't always. Sometimes others applaud when I don't. Sometimes nobody has performed but someone feels moved and we applaud Him. I think we are to edify each other so applauding (showing appreciation) doesn't seem wrong. We have been known to applaud the collection too. I figure if I can applaud my favorite football team, I can surely applaud Him or someone singing for/to Him. I do feel uncomfortable when people sort of cheer. Applause used to make me uncomfortable. Oh - I remember, in Psalms - something like "clap your hands, all you people, shout onto God with a voice of...(praise? triumph?)" It's Psalms 47. And in Isaiah it said the trees would clap (I loved that as a child). So, I guess I have now convinced myself - that applause is OK! His Servant... |

3 | Jesus has two nature but yet he is one. | John 4:24 | ItsMe | 163245
Acts 20:28 Keep watch over yourselves and all the flock of which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers.Be shepherds of the church of God, which he bought with his own blood. This verse is referring to Jesus the Christ - that came and died. God has three natures or personas, Father, Son and Holy Ghost - and yet He is God - One God. Jesus' two natures of human and God, were separated - at the cross He left His humaness and again become God in His Spiritual form. |

4 | Jesus laying down of His powers | Luke 5:22 | ItsMe | 163244
Does this scripture relate to your question? I don't see the connection. I don't know where the powers would be listed and don't know that I have ever heard or seen that. When I have thought of Jesus laying down His powers (I think some sermons have used that phrase)- I think of His powers being limited to human form - as in, He could only be in one place at a time. I think His powers may have been limited by the human-ness that he took on. He said we would have greater power - and I think He meant because He would be in us, with His unlimited power. I hope that made some sense and helped somehow? |

5 | spirit or Holy Spirit? | Job 34:14 | ItsMe | 162845
I agree with the previous post (Mark). I think it means God can do what He wants to with us. Also, generally, in Bible translations, if they are referring to the Holy Spirit, even when it just says Spirit, it is capitalized, so that you know it means Holy Spirit. That's from theology class - and the prof seemed to know what he was teaching! So when reading scripture if it says Spirit (cap) consider it Holy Spirit. |

6 | Help!!! | 2 Sam 7:22 | ItsMe | 162810
I'm not sure how to answer your question. I too know a wonderful Muslim man. He is more Christ-like than many of my Christian friends. I do know that Allah is not the God of Creation, as our God is. Allah was the moon god. That's why the crescent moon is on their templs and on the flag of Turkey. I'm not worshipping the god of the moon. I personally know the God of all creation. If you read much of the Koran, there is much about dieing for Allah and killing for Allah. Our God doesn't promote killing. He tells us to love our enemy. (Matt 5:43-48) Read your Bible - Pray that you know the truth (know it so you can explain it) John 8:32 says you shall know the truth, and the truth shall set you free. Pray for your friend, pray for God's wisdom, pray for God to make you His instrument for this friend and God will give you wisdom you didn't know you could have. God bless you. - and now I reread and see that your friend wants to know Him - I'll pray to that end - and you too. Tell your friend if he seeks Him, asks Christ to make Himself known to Him, He will. I'm speaking from experience on that one!

9 | Violent men take it by force | Matt 11:12 | ItsMe | 161926
I beleive there has almost, if not always, been a battle for man's soul. I believe evil has been battling against the kingdom of heaven for thousands of years. Violent men are still trying to destroy all that is good and pure. As Ephesians 6 tells us - we should be dressed for battle. "Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace."
10 | What does? | Matt 11:12 | ItsMe | 161925
I take it that we are to constantly be in battle for Him. It is a fight against this world. Every day when we wake, we enter the battlefield. More and more, in this country, the Bible is being ignored, excuses made to go against it - by even our judges and politicians. We have to fight for the truth. That doesn't mean to always be doom and gloom - because the battle is already won, we know how it ends. And there is so much in this world that is wonderful and good - babies, children, music, nature. Praise Him, but always be ready and on your guard, to share Him, and to show He is real.
11 | who was elisha's servant? | 2 Kin 4:11 | ItsMe | 161923
2 Kings 4 and 5 discuss Elisha's servant - Gehazi was the name.
12 | who did peter deny jesus | Mark 14:66 | ItsMe | 161915
From the NIV - While Peter was below in the courtyard, one of the servant girls of the high priest came by. When she saw Peter warming himself, she looked closely at him. "You also were with that Nazarene, Jesus," she said. But he denied it. "I don't know or understand what you're talking about," he said, and went out into the entryway. |

13 | Need help with adultry and remarriage. | 1 Cor 7:11 | ItsMe | 161907
First, let me address the part "even if we ask for repentance..." - historically, and I think scripture backs it - divorce is the total disolving of the marriage. If one divorces on scriptural grounds, it is gone. You can remarry. Second, this does not give a free ride - but if you are a Christian, and your first marriage was before you were a Christian, you may not be bound by the same standards. We are held to higher standards than the world. I'm not really clear on what you are asking otherwise. Let me tell you this, if you are seeking His will, and are honest about it, He will show you what to do, in His timing. Also neither adultery nor divorce are unforgivable sins. Many people do it wrong. Marry wrong. Divorce wrong. Many people stay in marriages that they could get out of. Pray, read His word (it appears you are doing that), and honestly seek His will. Whatever you need revealed, will be revealed.
14 | Were do angels go when they die. | Matt 22:30 | ItsMe | 161695
Luke 20:36 - (similar to Matthew 2:30). "Neither can they die any more: for they are equal unto the angels; and are the children of God, being the children of the resurrection." - "Neither can they die...for they are equal to angels" - so, I believe angels don't die. |

15 | WHY ARE KIDS STILL BEING BORN | Gen 4:1 | ItsMe | 161694
Because He didn't say it would happen that way. The story, and the ending, have already been told. We live, learn, and, hopefully, share Him. I can't imagine an earth without the miracle of birth. "This" world is ending. Be ready! |

16 | Did Eve hope she would be Jesus mother ? | Gen 4:1 | ItsMe | 161693
I have never found anything that said Eve hoped to be the mother of Christ. I think when people say, every since Adam, people have been waiting for a saviour - they just mean that people have always been waiting for their savior - not literally that Adam and Eve were waiting. People waited for a Messiah a long time. I don't think that "messiah" is mentioned until Daniel. Often savior was used for God - to come save them from some thing or situation. OK - Did I get off track here? |

17 | God's Love | Eph 5:1 | ItsMe | 161262
If you pray, read His word, try to live like Christ, love starts coming quite naturally. I am surprised sometimes and how my feelings for certain people have changed - and I don't know when or why? I don't think we practice sacrificing for others. It just becomes a part of us. Someone told me once - remember JOY. Put Jesus (J) first, then others (O), and yourself (Y) last - and you will experience a joy you never thought possible. Pray each morning that God help you show His love that day. In no time at all you will realize He is answering that prayer.
18 | How do you forgive? | Prov 20:22 | ItsMe | 161260
First I've prayed for you. You have been hurt and by someone that should have been trusted. I've learned (I'm old so I've had lots of lessons in this life!) that forgiveness frees me, not the person that wronged me. The hurt is real. Pray for that person. Pray that God help you forgive them. Pray for God's release from this pain. I've had to walk up to a person, at one time and say, I forgive you. That shocked them. Like the other writers said, if Christ could go to that cross to forgive me, I will practice and work at forgiving others, until I die. As a human, you many never forget in this lifetime. When the memory comes to mind, sing a song of praise. Sometimes I have to sing out loud - Amazing Grace is good for me. It takes work to forgive. I'm praying you peace and strength.
19 | Freedom | 1 Cor 6:12 | ItsMe | 161259
My Freedom comes in my total commitment to Him. Doesn't that sound strange? Being totally bound to Him, gives me freedom? John 8:32 - You shall know the Truth, and the Truth shall set you free. (I capitalized). The more I know Him and about Him, the freer I am. I think there is no freedom in this world aside from this. We are always bound by others requirements, expectations, rules, laws, etc. When people say I am free can can do what I want - they are not free. And they aren't doing what they want. I've been there. I was following the way the world wanted me to be. Like the song says - "This is what it means to be free, this is what if feels to know that I am forgiven."
20 | is smoking a sin? | 1 Cor 6:12 | ItsMe | 161257
1 Corinthians 10:31 sums it up - "Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God." There are many verses about doing things that are harmful to our bodies (His temple). I can always go back to this one though - it's how I quit smoking. It wasn't hurting anybody but me - and then I realized - it did not glorify God, it took away from my witness. And bringing up the over eating issue - one wrong won't justify another. If I lie but I see my neighbor steal and I point that out - well, we are back to Matt 7:3 - Why do you see the splinter in your brothers eye but don't see the wooden beam in your own eye." If you have any concern over something you are doing - does it glorify God? Also, is the Holy Spirit trying to speak to you about the issue. I've found when I have asked - if it's wrong, let me know - I almost always feel His clarification quickly. Sometimes I almost hear Him say - "If you have to ask..." On the other hand, if you are asking about something being a sin, because someone else is doing it - remember the beam verse. Pray for them but don't point that finger. |
