2 | I just dont understand, | Luke 6:35 | InJesus | 230233
Hi James: One reason why for your first question is that God does. Jesus provides this reason immediately following His command in Luke 6:35: "But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return; and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High; for He Himself is kind to ungrateful and evil men." God's greatest commands flow directly from His character. God is love, for example, so He tells us to love. God is holy so He tells us to be holy. So loving is what we are to do because it is what God does, what He is. He made us in His image and wants to redeem and restore us to His image, ultimately conforming Christians to the image of Christ.
