1 | Does God test us? | James 1:13 | Gup20 | 229957
James says to count it all joy when you encounter various trials, knowing that the trying of your faith produces patience. (James 1:2-4). But James goes on to tell us that we shouldn't even say when we are tempted that we are being tempted by God, but that all of us are tempted when we are enticed by our own lust. However, James clearly states that God will reward those who resist temptation (so much so that James says to count it all joy when you encounter trials). Though God does not tempt us, He will reward us for maintaining our faith in the midst of temptation. |

2 | do hades occupants get a 2nd chance | Rom 5:13 | Gup20 | 229955
Romans 5:13 says sin is not imputed when there is no law. Until the time of Moses, the only law given was "do not eat of the tree of knowledge of good and evil". Romans 5 says that, although they were sinners, their sin was not imputed because there was no law to show them they were sinners. However, 430 years previous to the giving of the law to Moses, Abraham was declared righteous for his faith in the gospel of Jesus Christ. (Galatians 3:16-17) The Bible calls believers the sons of Abraham because he was the first to be made righteous by grace through faith in Jesus Christ (Romans 4, Galatians 3:6-9, John 8:56). John 8:24 Jesus says that if people do not believe in Him they will die in their sins (seeming to indicate we lose the ability to choose after death). Many people believe (and it is hotly debated) that 1 Peter 3:18-19 indicates that Jesus went and preached the gospel to those in hades or hell after his death before his resurrection. This seams supported by Ephesians 4:7-10 and Psalms 68:18. However, there is no indication that I can see that those currently in hell have another chance. It was a one-time chance for those who died prior to Jesus to believe that he was the promised messiah. |

4 | Define "call upon the name of the LORD." | Rom 10:13 | Gup20 | 229938
Doesn't it relate directly to Romans 10:9 and Romans 10:11? Aren't these statements all equal? You know -- if A equals C and B equals C then doesn't A equal B? The new information is that of Romans 10:12 stating that it doesn't just apply to the Jews but to "Whomever".
