1 | Zech. 5:9 refers to an angel as femine | 1 Cor 11:10 | GeneZ | 129694
Just because Zechariah was shown two women in a vision (which represented something) and was shown this by angels, themselves... It does not speak of female angels. Women have appeared in visions as representing something in other passages. Why would angels showing him something symbolic concerning women have to be angels? Is the Great Whore of Babylon and angel, too? She was shown in a vision, also! "The woman was dressed in purple and scarlet, and was glittering with gold, precious stones and pearls. She held a golden cup in her hand, filled with abominable things and the filth of her adulteries. This title was written on her forehead: MYSTERY BABYLON THE GREAT THE MOTHER OF PROSTITUTES AND OF THE ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH. I saw that the woman was drunk with the blood of the saints, the blood of those who bore testimony to Jesus." Revelation 17:4-6 niv Again, the word for angels always appears in the masuline gender. If the passage you quoted from showed the word for angel appearing in the feminine gender, then I would see your point. Grace and peace, GeneZ |

2 | Who determines our destiny? | NT general Archive 1 | GeneZ | 98328
John... You asked... "Who determines your destiny, God or yourself?" It is not so cut and dry... It is more like a double edged sword. We determine in which direction our destiny will take. God determines the results of our choices.God has destined for us to choose. God determines the consequences for our choices. "Gal 2:20 "I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me." That is only positional truth if the believer is carnal. God did not destine for them to be carnal. He destined for them the opportunity to choose for being spiritual. If you are not walking in the power of the Spirit, the truth read in Galatians 2:20 can not be experiential. Only those walking and being filled by the Spirit can say along with Paul that is their experience. Those living in rebellion against the cross will not be able to say that's their experience. Just the same, God sees the carnal believer from a judicial perspective, and it (Gal 2:20)is a matter of being a legal decree achieved by God's justice on the cross for all believers. "Heb 12:2 fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith." All believers have been DESTINED to decide to follow what that says. But many reject that call. God did not destine believers to rebel and reject truth. We determine our destinies. On the other side, God destines the testings and choices that come our way which we must decide upon that will determine the consequences that God puts into motion. There is a two fold destiny going on. Part we determine. Part, God determines. Grace and peace, Gene |

3 | Do altars belong in christian churches? | Ex 17:15 | GeneZ | 97879
On what basis should an altar be built? The altar was for OT sacrifices, not the church age. Today, if anything, our sacrifice should be to willingly take up our cross and deny self as the Word of God accurately taught transforms us into new thinking in Christ. I suppose our altar could be symbolized by our accepting truth and laying down our old way of thinking, accepting objectively sound doctrine when it comes our way. When its pertaining to the Church age, the word "altar" is never taken in a literal sense. It is always used figuratively like I just used it. Grace and peace, Gene
4 | Easy way to learn NT Greek? | 2 Tim 2:15 | GeneZ | 96831
How would you answer a French man who wanted to learn an easy way to learn English? Greek is even more complex than English. One word can be modified in many ways to change meaning and intent. Without taking class? Move to Greece. Yet, the Greek spoken today is not the same Greek spoken at the time of the writing of the NT. The Greek of the NT is primarily Koine, but other dialects do appear in the Scripture at times. From those who I learn the Bible translated from the original languages I have been told it takes years of serious study. Otherwise, a little self taught knowledge can be very dangerous. My pastor teaches Scripture from the Greek and Hebrew texts. Once you see how it is to be done the idea of being self taught quickly fades. Those who quote from concordances and word studies have a very limited scope of the nature of what the Greek and Hebrew texts can contain and convey. Grace and peace, Gene |

5 | Reconciling 1 Tim 2:4 with Rom 8:29 | 1 Tim 2:4 | GeneZ | 96609
If the verses you mentioned are speaking of predestination, then all men would get saved. " who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth." (1 Timothy 2:4) Its God's desire... All men at some point in their lives are given a chance(s) to know God. But God's desire can not over ride the volition of man. This glorifies God even when men reject him. For it reveals and proves that God created a creature (man) with free will. For if man did not have free will we would not be free to reject God's desire for all men to be saved. All men would be saved. "For those whom He foreknew, He also predestined to become conformed to the image of His Son, so that He would be the firstborn among many brethren..." (Romans 8:29) That means that he knows who will believe. And he has chosen from all who would believe, for us(Church age believers) to be in Christ. That is, chosen to be the Bride of Christ. We were chosen for this before the foundations of the world. Moses was not chosen to be in Christ, nor was David. We were. It was God's sovereign choice that we be born during the Church age, as to receive the particular blessings that accompany the salvation to be given during the Church age. The Church has been called to reign with Christ. David always looked forward to the day when the Messiah would reign *OVER* him, not with him. What we have been chosen for is a special position in eternity, not simply to get saved (as some mistaken the Scriptures to be saying). " From one man he made every nation of men, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he determined the times set for them and the exact places where they should live." (Acts 17:26 nivĀ®) God CHOSE you to be born now. He did not chose you to believe in Him. He knew you would choose to believe in him, but he did not make you believe in Him. Yet, He chose (predestined) that you would be in Christ when you would believe. For Acts 17:26, says, that he determined when and where you were to be born. In that way he chose you to be in Christ. You were born during the Church age. That was God's sovereign choice. We have received a special and different area of grace in our salvation(why we are not under Law) that the OT saints did not receive in their salvation. They were not chosen to be in Christ before the foundations of the world. " Concerning *this salvation*, the prophets, who spoke _*of the grace that was to come to you*_, searched intently and with the greatest care.." (1 Peter 1:10 nivĀ®) We have received a portion of grace that was not given to OT saints. We have been chosen to be a part of the Bride of Christ. The helpmate of Christ in his reign.
